China Southern
Gday all!
I have been considering applying to fly for China Southern West Australian Flying College. Anyone here worked for, is working for, or wants to work for them and if so, what have you heard? Is it good work? What are the living conditions like??
Cheeeeers big ears!

The press will love that flight board after the next incident/accident.
Easy access to the name of the student and instructor involved!
God forbid that someone is injured and the next of kin find out via the media who do their usual ringaround of all identical names in the phone book after any incident/accident.............

Ohboy,
Not sure at moment. They have hired quite a few in past. Heard there will be some movement with regards to positions vacant. Put your cv in and the worst they can say is... No. All you will have wasted is 45c for a stamp. They usually do hold all applications though and will contact in due course.
Cheers

They also pay for all Upgrades/Ratings and Renewals if they require you to hold them (if you go outside of the college, its at your expence).
You are also able to get discounted Airfares, Car Hire and Accomodation.
A senior Grade 3 would get you a job at the moment, but as some one else said, they will consider anyone.
The life style at MDN can get a little dull, but the flying out there is plentyful and enjoyable (and where welse does a grade 3/2 instuctor get that sort of money).
You may here some shocking stories about work conditions, but you must remember that alot of that is from nearly 3 years ago when a certain person was at the helm. It has improved tren fold since then.
Throw in a CV. Its not going to do any harm.

The company does take grade 3s, normally senior 3s. The number of grade 3s is capped due to the large amount of solo done, grade 3s are limited on what they can sign out, if you cannot sign flights out makes the other instructor workload increase. Also the direct supervision aspect comes into play.
At the moment we have a few too many grade 3's at the moment and need the ones here to get upgraded to grade 2's before we employ more. That does not take that long doing 60-80 hours a month.
I would strongly suggest to put some thought into puttng an application in. The person to contact is the ops manager - [email protected] ph 08 9417 4777
You will need to pull your finger out when you start, learn the standard operating procedures. Doing 30000+ hours a year of training every instructor needs to teach the same way.
Prefer people who can work as part of a team, and that have worked in the country before. If you can demostrate this include it in your application.
References/background WILL be checked, so do not B/S on your application.
If you get an interview, show some interest and drive out to Merredin and try and see whats it like during the day, and after work with the guys and gals.

The salary you stated is incorrect, grade 3 instructors employed by flight ops start with grade 2 pay which currently is over $32000.
Basic formula for the pay is GA pilots award plus 5% plus $2500 Merredin allowance. If you qualify to teach CIR sim (by holding or held a IFR rating and passed the company CIR sim standardisation) you will get the IFR allowance in the award which is about $3800.
Leave is as per the award, ie you get a leave loading (extra holiday spending money) on a portion of your leave.
Edited : sorry had the wrong email address for the ops manager

We have just finished putting a dozen new instructos on, and are looking around for more Grade 2 or Grade 1 instructors.......
If you are looking to join a good team of professional operators for a full time, above award position pay, good flying, and well maintained aircraft, heaps of flying, did I say heaps of flying both day and night give the operations manager a phone call or an email the ops manager with the contact details already listed here
