Next XXX will be telling us he landed an A330 on 29R and pulled off by taxiway R1.

Well, it's not the only thing he's pulling off...

marcuste,

It might be a supp, the metros that used to operate into SY during curfew had an allowable tailwind component of 25kts I think... And if memory serves correctly that was limited by the groundspeed of the tyres.

Ando,

It may be bigger, but your stuff is certainly more 'exciting'... Well only for the next little bit :-)

BK isn't a scary place, it's different. The vast majority of the people in the area are just trying to get by and work hard. I know this as I spend quite a bit of time around the Bankstown/Bass Hill area.

Xxx,

I would imagine sleeping in one's car would get you noticed no matter where you are.

I had a really good experience last time I was at Bankstown. We flew in in two aircraft and wanted to head to the Cross for a night out. We walked out to the carpark to find a taxi and started talking to a bloke who seemed like he was waiting for someone. He then offered to give us a ride into the City. We made a suitable donation and enjoyed the night out. I can only assume he was a local pilot and wanted to help us out.

Give it a rest FTS, don't destroy the thread because you think we live in an ideal crime-free world. I'll send you the police report if you want.

I never mentioned anything about an ideal crime-free world. The only crime I mentioned was your BS that is continually spread on this forum. It's getting worse, I'm not the only one saying it. You don't have to comment on just about every topic, it gives you more opportunity to sound like an idiot (not that I'm calling you an idiot though). It's a shame because you have a world of knowledge, but how about 'picking your battles'.? I've said my bit, I'll leave you alone now.

Just wondering how they are 'approved' to land with a 20kt tailwind component?

AFM 10kts, sup 20kts with certain conditions meet.

Just wondering how they are 'approved' to land with a 20kt tailwind component? The AFM says max 10kt tailwind, at least in the -100 and -300 it does. Is there an AFM supplement they have? Or is this what you have heard on the grapevine?
No "grapevine stuff". I flew the thing for 12 years. EAA has an operational approval to do so, with certain constraints i.e. flaps 35, RWY 34L etc. Perfectly legal (and safe), if that's what you're asking.

I landed in those conditions maybe 3 times in 12 years. It was not something I did regularly

Can't remember much more, as it was 2 types ago CRAFT is catching up with me.

Cheers Hugh. Flying the dash also at the moment, early in my career though, on a few hundred on type so still learning lots. I wouldn't doubt it being safe. Interesting stuff.

hahaha the mentioning of drive by shootings as a security/saftey issue in bankstown or for that fact any other neighbourhood ....... You do realise they shoot at people/houses for a reason mostly drug money related???? They dont wait for pilots or pax to get off at YSBK and think lets go unleash a few rounds for the sake of it '
ps: from the northern beaches i have no reason to defend the west its jus common sense

Well I didn't even mention the other time I was sleeping in my hire car outside the Thrifty car rental building (waiting for it to open) just down the road from YSBK airport and the police questioned me because they believed I was pimping.
