Just wondering how they are 'approved' to land with a 20kt tailwind component? The AFM says max 10kt tailwind, at least in the -100 and -300 it does. Is there an AFM supplement they have? Or is this what you have heard on the grapevine?
No "grapevine stuff". I flew the thing for 12 years. EAA has an
operational approval to do so, with certain constraints i.e. flaps 35, RWY 34L etc. Perfectly legal (and safe), if that's what you're asking.
I landed in those conditions maybe 3 times in 12 years. It was not something I did regularly
Can't remember much more, as it was 2 types ago
CRAFT is catching up with me.
