Suffice to say there was no sign of life on the airport, apart from a night shift in the Pac Av hangar. I didn't feel unsafe at any stage.

Another outstanding contribution there from XXX...
...a story that could have happened anywhere and is most likely highly embelished.
I'm not saying there isn't crime in western Sydney, but you white boys need to get over yourselves. Most of the "lebos" you speak of couldn't give two hoots about you.

I have been on the ground at Ysbk most fri and sat nights to about 2 am over the past few months, nothing going on here except the occasional police vehicle making sure we didn't have hookers in the building. Or in the carpark. Nothing to worry about.

Spent the last 29 years of my life living within spitting distant of ysbk, can tell you apart from the odd burnout after dark it is pretty darn quite out here most nights.
Bankstown train station can be another matter, and most of the drive by shootings are nowhere near the airport so generalisations only serve to discriminate and spread fear.
St George cabs are another that will serve the bankstown area, plus I reckon half the cab drivers in Sydney live out this way.
I think the biggest a/c I've seen at ysbk would have to be the HARS super Connie.

I would have thought the Super Connie was the biggest to go in to BK but I am sure a RAAF J model Herc has been in there and Wiki tells me it has a MTOW of 70,300kg as opposed to the Super Connie's 54,400kg.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "biggest" and how much you trust Wiki.
I know whcih one is prettier though

An RAAF Herc has been in there...I know, I walked around in it - Bankstown airshow back in Sept 2000 (I think it was). Old girl was showing her age.
But yes, Herc in YSBK and was gone the next day.

There's no stupidity, nkand if 2193's estimate was post-curfew. They would have planned either a downwind landing on 34L, or an alternate.
Qlink has operational approval to land after curfew on 34L. However, only with a maximum tailwind of 20kt.
I have had a similar experience. ETA SY of 2315 local. Arrive in the circuit just as the southerly comes through and have to bug out to BK due tailwind of 25+ kt
Just a bit of bad luck for me, my crew and our PAX. Try getting taxis to go to BK after dark.
Had 2193's estimate for SY been before curfew...........

And before you bite, not having a go, just genuinely curious.

Biggest thing I seen come into Bankstown is a Convair for turboprop aircraft and a Global Express 5000 which I must say seeing one of those takeoff on 11C at almost max power on the brakes with some more flap then usual was a sight to see!
As for subject of qlink 200, I have seen probs 2 of those in there over a 2 yr period and also the odd rex saab as well

I guess we often tend to associate the length of the runway with the size of the aircraft capable of landing on it so I guess by saying "What is the largest aircraft" is essentially irrelevant to an extend as it's more a matter of what the taxiways can handle. I know V discussed ATR's into Moorabbin but the taxiways probably weren't ready for them.
