After having been contacted by phone early last week with an offer (737 by the way - not Junglejet as I was half expecting), at the time was advised to expect stuff in the mail by the end of the week. When nothing had arrived by yesterday, I thought I'd call to confirm. Response from HR was that they were just waiting for management to sign off on a few things before they could send it out. Maybe this could be the salary sacrifice issue in question?

Bearing in mind they asked if I could commit to a course starting mid November, it would be nice to get some kind of heads-up before the 11th hour as to where I stand on the issue. As someone said earlier in the thread, would not be impressed to be the last to pay for an endorsement, only to find the next batch were given an alternative option.

Salary Sacrifice Endorsement

Why dont you ring AFAP; they might know what is going on?

They sent out a memo recently saying that they had received a draft letter from the company and the final letter would be available soon.

Yeh I heard similar. Apparently they have changed their procedure. Instead of you trying to fit into a slot at Alteon or Qantas et al , the companies have given their slots to VB and let them place the candidates.
The latest Alteon scheme involes a Classic endorsment at Ansett in MEL with a differences course in BNE.
I believe the letter has been drafted and just needs to be signed off by management. It shoudl be a "tick the box" exersize where you agree either to paying up front and thereby getting full salary straight away or salary sacrifice over 12 months.
This is what I've heard!!! Nothing in writing so far!!!

Received paperwork today from Alteon. As "Mention1" said above, 737 Classic course at Ansett sims in Melbourne, followed by NG diffs training in Brisbane. Approx $27K all up, with no mention anywhere of salary sacrifice option. Can't say I'm thrilled - especially when my last jet endorsement was paid for by my previous employer.

All for the sake of a home basing. Hmmm...

Well its official, Salary Sacrifice has been approved. Got the letter in my hand. Can either pay up front or sacrifice over 12 months the thirty grand.

Good luck to everyone on which ever company you choose. I sit back and watch the flood gates open now.
