If you hold a ICAO class 1 medical, you require an "extended ICAO renewal". Cost GBP 258.00
Thanks for the clarification - heres one other point - a CASA medical is NOT an ICAO class 1 as the colour blindness tests are not ICAO compliant - therefore you're up for the whole cost (nb this info is 18 months old though....)

Over and out,

I strongly suggest that you read LASORS. I am not sure about the CPL route as I held a full Aus ATPL and did that conversion. I had to do elements of the CPL test in my Shorts 330 LST (for the IR) whereas my husband who was doing the same conversion only did a 737 LST in the sim, no CPL elements. I don't think there's much flying involved with the CPL conversion. Others may have factual info on that.

douguie,

You'll need a visa or an EU passport. Unless you have some skills that are highly desirable, such as TRE etc, then it's unlikely a company will sponsor your residency. You can always ask.

9Ws,

If you have +3000 hours with +1500 hours in command on +30 tonne aircraft in primarily international or equivalent operations then you can apply for a JAA UK CAA ATPL. You only need to do 2 exams and the LST in sim (on the aircraft you have 500 hours on). Note, this will only let you fly G-reg aircraft, if you want to fly other reg, you'll need to do the other 12 subjects.

Again, this info is in LASORS which can be found on the CAA SRG website. Please cross reference every thing you see here with that info. It's not easy but it's essential.

The requirement to qualify for an extended ICAO renewal is "to hold a national class one from any ICAO state AND holds a valid CPL/ATPL"

Full initial class one not required. I booked mine about 4 weeks ago and this was confirmed by the CAA.

According to the paperwork I have just received, the extended renewal consists of:
Audiogram
Peak Flow (if required)
Eyesight or extended Ophthalmology (if required)...etc.

This may be where your commment applies where the ICAO class 1 is not JAA compliant. This is included in the GBP 258.00. You do not need the full initial as you have stated.
See;

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/49/SRG_MED...CPL_Feb-05.pdf

As redsnail has said, read LASORs for all the requirements.

For ATPL:

http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?ca...90&pageid=4462

If you dont qualify for an ATPL,its the CPL and abbreviated IR.

Reddo,

I'm doing the Observed LST in Feb (converting my ATPL to JAA ATPL IAW LASORS G1.5) with GECAT. Are there any differences from a normal ATPL/Multi Pilot Skill test?

The Hedge,

According my husband who did one, no. It was a bog standard LST. Make sure who ever you're doing the practice with is familiar with what the CAA are looking for. Hammer the UK approach speeds (fdifferent to ICAO) etc, make sure you have the facts with respect to who's SOPs you'll be using and make sure it's a "friendly" CAA inspector. Some aren't...

cheers

Thanks Reddo.

I have been scrolling through the UK AIP and JAR OPS-1 for this info. Unlike the Aussie one the ENR section has very little in regards to IAL procedures, speeds etc. I assume that they are all in the JEPPS. Any other source you can recommend?

Post Regarding WAAC

Guys, just to make a few things clear here..
WAAC is doing modular courses in YPJT, as well as the integrated.
If anyone is interested just give them a ring or PM me, I can give out more info.
Hedge mentioned earlier the cost of the resits or sitting an exam apart from the group..Just a minor correction there, it is $500 only if you are sitting the exam on your own, for the first time. If it is a resit you only pay $150 if you are on your own, if you join a group it is only $50. And this is money that goes to Murdoch uni for renting out the classroom, it has nothing to do with WAAC.
Cheers!

The Hedge,

I am afraid I can't answer that one right now, perhaps the Jepps? When I get home I'll ask Checkers, he'll know as it affected him. When I flew the Shed it didn't get fast enough for the differences to matter.

Hi Hedge,

Asked the bloke, his reply, it's in the UK AIP. He reckons it's online but that's all I could get out of him. Sorry 'bout that.

Thanks Reddo.

I have been scrolling through it online and all I found was a small section on circling areas and Vat for Cat a/b/c etc but nothing more.

Will keep looking

Thanks for trying
