Shots of the approach to Tapini in what was then TPNG - 1970.

and the "Go round obstacle" at the end of the strip.



After 40 years they've probably flattened out the strip, built up the approach and moved the mountain at the end.

And when ever you see this line up of a/c, there will be a wealthy publican in close range........40 deg at 5pm!

Nice Vid Jaba, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of when I was a kid, riding my bike down to the airport at Rotto (we lived there) so I could watch the aircraft from the side of the strip.

The 185 sounds great.

I prefer to characterise it as 'Who transported the future prospects for the Dr's family name, the very fruit of his loins, to the chosen venue with the maturity and gravity such an august task demands'
