Tinpis,
First job in the ag flying industry was driving a loader for Gerry Kluck, he was driving an FU24 in those days.

This mountain is in SA.
What is it called?
No-one got this photo. Must be because no-one gets out there very much, or reads any Len Beadell books.
It is Mt Kintore.

185, if it makes you feel any better - I read Len Beadell's "Too long in the Bush" in 1966 - but I can't say I remember the pic !!!

Reckon I'd be needing my arse booted if I didn't recognise it!

That's an old shot FTDK, any idea when it was shot? I'm thinking probably somewhere around the late 70's to mid 80's? Unusual angle of photography too Climbing out for the Adelaide/Eastern Passes?

KB, the pic was taken in November 1985 from a Queenstown Aeroclub PA28 on arrival from Queenstown over the top at about 7000' while contemplating a descent plan. Probably THE most spectacular bit of flying I have done - scenery wise!

Mrs FTDK is spring cleaning and pulled out an old photo album. I thought it was an interesting pic.

Was back there in 2006 - seems to have changed a bit in 20 yrs.

J, angle of bank? You think I was looking at the AH? Can't have been too steep - had an 7 mth preg Mrs FTDK in the right-hand seat and a sprog in the back.

Dr

Ouch! that's gotta hurt! (mainly the wallet) Makes you realise that if it was on fire there's no hope in hell of getting out alive.

I sit here looking at that photo and find myself pondering their only means of escape...when the crowd lifts the aircraft up enough to open that silly forward hinged canopy...imagine it happening at some of the remoter places in Oz...they'd find two skeletons a year or 6 later.

I also find myself pondering the thoughts of those proponents of putting the gear down when, in a retract aircraft, you're faced with the prospect of a forced landing on an unknown surface, especially when pondering the first link above showing them on their way over

I also find myself experiencing a warm fuzzy glow thinking about the two escape hatches built into my 38 year old Bo...the exact design of which has been on every Bo since the first in 1947.

Wouldn't have happened on a taildragger either...tricycle undercarriage being the ONLY design fault my Bo posseses

I just LOVE 'old' technology.
