RIP Wiz of Oz, to all those that knew him, he is no longer with us and was killed with others yesterday in Milne Bay.

The Wizard of Auz last PPRuNe post was at 8:01 am AEST yesterday.

Wiz registered with PPRuNe on 12 July 2000 and accumulated 2,898 posts. It was a pleasure to have him post in our Dunnunda Forums.

He will be a sad loss to this PNG thread.

Bamahuta Col Bubner!!

Bamahuta Col Bubner!! I remember Col when he owned Kimbe Electrics, prior to the Air Link days, and I was based in the roundhouses at Hoskins flying for Talair. Many memorable evenings at San Remo's Club.... never a shortage of SP Brown and lovely nubile Tolai maidens if memory serves correct. . RIP wantok!!

Menyamya? I may have a photo somewhere.

Anyone remember a homebuilt, P2-JEF, a Barracuda..any info?
Built by Reg Mason who was Chief Engineer of Douglas airways at the time. It was subject to dispute between Reg and Bikkies over the ownership of the engine and Bikkies wouldn't allow it to be taken out of the hangar. It was cut up & taken to the tip around the demise of Douglas. Reg did a beautiful job on it and I believe it only flew once. His son's name was Jeff.

Hadda look at the ANG website; though I never worked for them and thus can't catch up at the reunion, the many pix of old mates brought memories of PNG aviation days flooding back - Thanks Hanoi

Thanks for the info on P2-JEF, Mendi63. Now, here is another one, Pitts Special, P2-ART, registered around March 1979, with CofR # 337 and., according to the 'net' was first flown by USA pilot Art Schroeder (hence the reg), what happened to this one ?

Pretty sure that the Pitts was owned by Rob Wood (Diwai), ex PX, but vaguely remember it being in Hagen as well. Perhaps there were 2 of them........?

Also vaguely recall that Tony Schwerdt (brother of Mr 10%) was ferrying a Pitts to Australia in early '86 (or thereabouts) when it suffered a long silence and ended up in the trees. Could this be the same one/

P2 Pitts

Yes, two of them, P2-ROB was Rob Wood, 1982 to 1991, to VH-LRQ. P2-ART, I have a name listed as Graham Weir (unsure of correct spelling)
