Hi To All, I Have Received The Same Email That Invites Me For The Closest Recruitment Day On 21 Feb Or Other Days Till The Middle Of March.
The Problem Is That They Didn't Give Me Any Infos About The Type Of Contract, I Mean Permanent Or Not, And Then They Told Me That They Will Pay Me The Ticket Go/back, Does Someone Know If Is It True Or Not ? How Is Air Baltic Reliable ? Cause I Read Few Monts Ago That They Were Spending Not Good Time.
How Are The Prospects For Captain ?
Thanks

TruePilot,

Yeah after I sent them all the documents they requested, they replied to me saying I was in a stby. pool and that they would contact me when a Q400 FO position becomes available.
Then, about three weeks later they invited me to an assessment day.
They offered me loads of possible assessment dates, the closest is on 24/02, in March they mentioned 12 possible dates. I dunno if that means they have people scheduled for all those dates, if so, again, it's gonna be survival of the fittest!
Good luck to you.

Aquafina, if all those dates are being offered for assessment and they're filled... I really do not understand anything
The fact is that they are calling pilots from the pool, but not me or either other pilots that I personally know. Also It seems that there're pilots with part of the recruitment process unfinished like me I'm still missing the Psychological test, but every single time I called to Daiga and the emails that I received tell me that I'm in the pool awaiting for a vacant.

Does anyone have an idea about how many pilots are in the pool?

CHECHE,
I don't know if they have people scheduled for all of the listed dates they specified to me in the email.
Just to show you guys what it said exactly:

Dear Sir,

AIR BALTIC CORPORATION (airBaltic) is a joint stock company that was established in 1995. The airBaltic fleet consists of 34 aircrafts – six Boeing 737-500, eight Boeing 737-300, two Boeing 757-200, ten Fokker 50 airplanes and eight Bombardier Q400Next Gen. airBaltic received the title of Airline of the Year 2009/2010 (Gold Award) from the European Regions Airline Association. airBaltic is the winner of Air Transport World Phoenix Award 2010 – a global recognition of excellence in restructuring business. airBaltic was chosen for anna.aero ANNIES Award as Europe 's largest flag carrier by new routes.

Thank you for your kind interest in our company and sent documents.
We do believe your experience could be valuable to our company and together we could achieve good results!

Before we continue with detailed assessment information, we would like to explain our current recruitment conditions.
At the moment we are hiring either candidates with a Dash 8 Q400 Type Rating or non-rated candidates that agree to complete the type rating at a highly discounted price of 9000EUR per pilot.

Only candidates willing to accept these conditions should attend the one of the assessment dates shown below.

Closest date for assessment is 21 th of February.
Other possible dates are March 1/ 4/ 7/ 9/ 14/ 16/ 18/ 21/22/ 23/ 25/ 28
Please, inform about your availability to attend selection.

During assessment day you will have:
- Written tests
- Technical Interview and SIM test with Flight instructor
- HR interview
- Psychological tests. NB! You can take English dictionary with you in case you need it during psychological tests.

Tests will be held in Riga. Our office is located in Riga International Airport area, airBaltic Training center.

We will provide you with ID tickets on airBaltic direct flights.

Kind regards,

Kiorbis,

Yes they sent me my tickets already and I didn't have to pay for them, it's an airBaltic flight. I have no idea of the contract either, or the conditions there, my thinking is; go do the assessment and see how I get on then if I pass I can take a look at the contract/deal they offer and make up my mind.

TruePilot,

I know nothing of the assessment day itself, just what they sent me and what I've read here.

Whilst nobody want to pay for a TR, particularly when the salary at the end is. . . . how to be polite? not earth shattering, the Q400 is one of the few Turboprops that seem to feature frequently in overseas contract jobs via agencies. 9Grand isnt much for a new rating, short term, it gets you a job, medium to long term it could be your passport to other places should you desire.
Whilst I personally would not be overjoyed to shell out, at least the price is not bad. Of course airBaltic probably plan to finally get that Q400sim and do it in house, so it should indeed be offered at a reasonable price if not contracted out .
Or maybe they got a bunch of ratings thrown in with the airframes and it is cash in hand, does that really matter? no, what matters is what is best for your current and future prospects of course.

Has anyone with less than the quoted 1000 hours minimum been invited for assessment?

I received an email today from Daiga asking for all my documents and asking whether I would be interested in attending an assessment day in Riga.

I have 320 hours total with about 80 on the A320

She asked me to let her know if I was interested in attending an assessment and she would let me know the dates. Judging by what Aqua posted, they are conducting assessments every 3/4 days!

Well done on getting through, if you could kindly post what the day involved, that would be greatly appreciated

HI, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, FEW MONTHS AGO AIR BALTIC "WAS FLYING" IN BAD ECONOMICAL SITUATION.
INDEED, THEY ASKED ME TO SEND THEM SOME DOCS AND ONE DAY LATER THEY SENT ME A NEW EMAIL TELLING THAT THE RECRUITMENT WERE STOPPED.
DOES SOMEONE KNOW IF THEY ARE SOLVED THE ECONOMICAL PROBLEMS, OR THOSE 9000€ ARE A KIND OF A TRICK TO START TO "COME UP" ???

AB is looking for the cheapest solution to get their new Q400s crewed. If they can't get fully type rated guys. (looking in Greece and Austria) they will take non-TR guys. Seems that they can't find them yet. Anyone hear something about those guys from tyrolean? Getting a TR on a Q400 for 900 is a bargain. I wouldn't doubt it 1 sec. Seems that full selection is going on but being in the pool doesn't mean they are offering you a contract. The pool is just something for them, doesn't mean you are in, some people misread that information, me included.
good luck to you guys,
G

BT is forcing six (not confirmed) 737 CPTs back to the F50. Some certainly will hit the road now!
Don't know if any FOs are forced to leave the fleet too...

Hi guys,so I`ve attended the assessment with Air Baltic for 737 F/O position. It started in the morning at 9.00 We had to complete a form with psichological questions that you`ve had to respond with true or false(370 questions),than 3 pages with almost the same questions but you had to write down the answers. No time limit. Then followed an face to face interview with a lady from HR and an instructor.they presented the company asked you the frequent questions about you, reasons why you wanna join, what do you expect, then some light technical and operational quiz. After a break it followed some written tests,2 ATPL general(performance, meteo, navi) and one was 737 technical. After all these,it was the sim.737-classic,where you had a part as PF and as PM.Copenhagen vectors for departure, steep turns climbing and descending, localizer interception,ILS raw data,no FD,no AP,no A/T,a go-around followed by a flame-out,circuit and landing in single-engine.No big deal, but I`ve had a poor feedback from the simulator.I never flew classics, but it was ok.After that,no debriefing, just a handshake and we`ve been told to wait7-10 days for an answer. In case you`re succesful, you might get offered a temporary position(until oct) or just wait in the pool until they know exactly what available positions they will have.So good luck to everybody! Cheers!Oh,i forgot about the hotel.I`ve stayed in Hanza, they have a contract with Air Baltic, and for 35eur/day it`s really worth it.To bad it was so cold outside(-22).

Temporary positions?

Powerback//

Who told you there are only temporary positions available at the moment? Is that just a rumor or have they told you so during your assessment? Good luck by the way!
