A semi submerged hit pontoon bridge is finally removed from the war effort.

Welcome home “ hero,” this is what Russia is going to suffer more and more when troops start to return home, especially ex convicts. And I cannot see how they will keep a lid on it all.

Russian sabotage their own infrastructure as opposed to demonstrations

Well, this is a new one, drones collecting weapons off the dead, beware images of a corpse.

So it is difficult to understand where the £162M is being spent - presumably there is a lot of other kit being included in the total.

Excerpt from .gov website: "This is also the first contract approved under Task Force Hirst, a MOD initiative created to ramp up defence industrial capacity and capability, laying the foundation for larger sustained supply of missiles and other key capabilities to Ukraine and, in the longer term, enable industrial cooperation between our two countries."

...and from the mod.uk website posted 24 July: "DE&S has ordered a significant number of Thales UK’s Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM) for UK Armed Forces.
The order, worth £176 million, will equip current and future short-range air defence capabilities including the British Army’s Stormer combat vehicles and Royal Navy’s Martlet maritime anti-surface missile system, deployed from Wildcat helicopters."

So it seems the £162m not only covers the tranche of 650 missiles for direct supply to Ukraine by the end of this year, but also expanding the Thales Belfast production capability and securing the supply chain for key components if that was not already covered by the UK destined procurement contract.
It may also be used for additional training, additional launchers, adapting for carrying and launching from drones, fast surface boats etc.. These weapons are highly portable and have been used extensively to great effect in bringing down Orlan, Lancet and Shahed drones.
Specifically designed for use in the urban environment and man portable. The principle here should be not to compare the cost of each missile vs each drone taken down, but the cost of not taking the drone swarm down.

Odd use of a drone, Russia running out of AK's seems to be a novel concept.

This video looks like the guy with the gun used it last to shoot himself, might just be a quirk of physics, but the rifle is suspiciously arranged for a self capping, which is consistent with the Russian form of first aid.

Good principle for the missile maker, but who will pay them once the attacker with unlimited supply of cheap drones wins?

Troop rotation on the Russian front lines.

ORAC 7th September 2024 22:29

ISW:

Russian forces are increasingly executing surrendering Ukrainian soldiers throughout the frontline likely in part because Russian commanders appear to be endorsing the proliferation of such war crimes.

ISW has extensively reported on previous footage and reports of Russian servicemembers executing Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) and observed a wider trend of prolific Russian abuses against Ukrainian POWs across various sectors of the front that appeared to be enabled, if not explicitly endorsed, by individual Russian commanders and upheld by Russian field commanders.

More on the Ukrainian designed cruise missile under going testing, it looks like it’s part an upgrade to soviet unguided munitions and also has similarities to the French Hammer.
They are also to receive a lot of unarmed rockets from Canada that they have been seeking for months, which they intend to modify. I take it these are similar if not the same as snebs? See the bottom of the page.

more re the new weapon in the link below.

Now Ukraine is preparing to fight back—with its own glide bombs. A recent video shot by the crew of a Ukrainian air force Sukhoi Su-27 fighter depicts an air force Sukhoi Su-24 bomber carrying a prototype gliding munition under its wing.

Not content to lob American-made JDAM-ER and French-made Hammer glide bombs, the Ukrainians clearly intend to arm their jets with locally made bombs, as well. Air force brigadier general Serhii Holubotsov announced back in June that the service was developing a new glide and guidance kit to transform Soviet-vintage unguided bombs into precision munitions. The test flight on that Su-24 was an important step in the new weapon’s development.
With its wings and tail-mounted rocket booster, the presumably GPS-guided bomb looks a lot like a Hammer. It’s possible the Ukrainians actually copied the French weapon. A quick boost from a solid-fueled rocket is how a 550-pound Hammer ranges as far as 40 miles.

re the 80,000 rockets from Canada, these were life ex and they were building a plant in Canada to dispose of them, obviously that has now changed and with Ukraines engineering skills I can see them being put to good use. Though there are reports concerning the stability of the rockets. More below

There is something fishy with this video. The camera is obviously "fixed" to the gun barrel, except, when the gun is firing. Or maybe, I should say, both camera and gun barrel are fixed to the drone frame, except, when the gun is firing. Given the lightweight (and low rotational inertia) of the drone itself, compared to the expected gun reaction forces, it's very strange to see the gun barrel "just" move back to its original position after each shot fired, without the camera moving anything, let alone effects of the gun recoil itself.

Where we see operational videos of the early deployment of the thermite drones, we see none of these of the machine gun drones. i'd say the machine gun drone is still games level animation (which can be looking very real, just check out on YT).

Looks that much devastated to me, that I have my doubts, whether the fuel was the primary source of destruction force, or for example, a S300/S400 storage and subsequently the fuel nicely burning down the environment at a large scale.

Actually, I got that same impression, when seeing that Russian elephant bridgehead reaching for Pakrovsk. Just let the Russians go "far" and than cut-off the head, entrap the whole, let them ammo starve and take the whole as prisoners (in the mean time getting a huge amount of WWII equipment "for free").

Counteroffensive may gain momentum as if Russian attacks went beyond a point when they still had enough reserves.

Centre and south part of Selydove was recaptured by ZSU.
