The level of incompetence and lack of judgement is very Russian.

I've seen messages, the dartboard got turned/tilted, right at the moment the bullet started its journey, otherwise, it would have been a (bad luck ?) bulls eye hit.

Not sure what this means in terms of the Montreux Convention. Ukraine decides to open Black Sea to permanent presence of NATO ships

President Zelenskyy has approved the country's maritime security strategy, which provides for cooperation with NATO and the permanent presence of the alliance's ships in the Black Sea.

The decree was published on the website of the head of state.

Last I checked, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania have naval assets in the Black Sea.
They are all in NATO. As regards Montreaux Convention: Turkey has a role to play if others wish to move naval assets into the Black Sea.
Not sure what Zelenskyy is playing at here.
Give this 48 hours, some amplifying info may be forthcoming.

Russians nearly take out one of their own helicopters.

ORAC 20th July 2024 06:47

Video. Early this morning, Ukrainian attack drones struck Millerovo Airfield in Rostov Oblast, a major forward airbase near the Ukrainian border used by Russian strike aircraft.

The airbase is currently burning, with multiple massive fires along the flightline.

NASA's FIRMS confirms the massive blaze.

And, is this a real photo, or another AI fantasy ?

That opened cockpit canopy looks a bit strange in this composition. The left vertical fin looks to be higher than the nearer right one. Also, the fire pattern is more for a piece of wood in a campfire than the way, I'd expect a military aircraft to be on fire. Many oddities .....

sycamore 20th July 2024 12:38

WS,that is the airbrake on top of the fuselage; the Su34 has clamshell canopy,as it`s side-by-side...as the aircraft is on-fire,then maybe the hydraulics have heated-up,expanded ,opened the a/b,maybe blown an oleo/tyre...

Are you sure ? All SU-34 pictures/videos I checked for an airbrake don't show that (it does have a chute though), nor is there an airbrake silhouette/outline visible on top view photo's. Its smaller predecessor SU-27 does have an airbrake, though the shape of that is different from what the burning image shows.

My first impression was, there is another aircraft behind the one in front pointing 180 reversed), the back one being heavily on fire (majority of the hefty visible flames in the burning photo is obviously behind the SU-34 in front and not the SU-34 in the front itself).

So, yeah, again my remark, this might be an AI rendered/generated photo.

Another strange thing with this photo is it's taken from quite close to the fire: Who's there to just take a picture, during or shortly after a pretty hefty attack ????) as well, there are no humans visible, trying to do some firefighting. All pretty strange for a real photo.

Also the color/sharpness of the photo is pretty good, for a night-time photo under stress circumstances. It just does not match up.

I hope we're not posting fake feel-good propoganda pictures here. That's very much a Russian thing to do...

Propaganda from the good guys. Surely not.

It would only be propaganda if Russian aircraft had not in fact been destroyed in attacks, and there is much evidence that they have. If no actual pictures of the event are available I have no problem with an artistic illustration of it, and it is quite well done. Illustrations of military engagements are commonplace - have you never seen an Airfix box top?

I don't mind a bit of artistic illustration at all. It's a good fake pic, but I think it should be made clear to people whether a post is "creative" or not. Otherwise we just become a self-licking, feel good propoganda channel. And thats a strategy thankfully owned by the Russians!

By the way, just so you hear the other side, the Russians admitted the attack, but their line was that no aircraft were destroyed, as they had all fled the base...but they would say that wouldn't they!
