This is the life of a Russian air defense operator. If they turn on their radar, they are locked onto by an anti-radiation missile (HARM) from a Ukrainian plane. The HARM locks on and keep going to the site of the radar, even after they turn in off. Ukraine has eliminated so many Russian AD systems that their drones are now flying all over the Russian lines and beyond. [Also they likely recovered this tape when UA advanced to this location. Now I have no knowledge what type of blanks you are referring to, but the blanks I've worked with are 7,62x39 with a tip made of balsa wood. The BFA stops the balsa bullet, breaks it and guides the pieces sideways. Having a balsa bullet hitting you at 700m/s from 10 meters from the gun would certainly kill you, not to mention 5 to 10 rounds in a burst. And that is exactly how the blanks are treated, as lethal as any round.

We'll see how that works out. I have also read that they launch Sky Shadow as a package, the Sky Shadow itself, a decoy and an Anti Radar Missile, so if Russia attempts a lock on the Storm Shadow, the ARM takes out the radar. … |

They conveniently overlook mentioning the actual scale of allocated resources to keep that village, a crucial aspect surpassing the village's mere physicality on a map. I'll refrain from asserting that russian lines are on the brink of collapse and their forces defeated – it's unfortunate that their units successfully executed a tactical retreat, averting encirclement and potential neutralization. The effectiveness of minefields, fortifications, anti-tank trenches, and similar engineering obstacles becomes significant only when they are adequately manned and remain under fire control. Unfortunately, their retreat affords them the opportunity to maintain the presence of manned trenches and supervised minefields. However, the exact count and resource availability involved remains uncertain. Considering the available open-source loss data, it's apparent that Russian forces are experiencing a continued degradation of troops, potentially necessitating the deployment of supplementary troops to rectify the deteriorating situation. If russians were to pursue this as their next move, the remaining question pertains to whether Ukraine has the necessary forces to build upon the achieved success – a question to which I currently lack an answer. Nonetheless, this stands as an important development, and russia's attempt to undermine its significance only serves as evidence that things aren't so great as russians want to portray. |

Far more dangerous is the situation where someone fires live rounds. If the BFA is the type that screws into the flash eliminator, the first round will strip the threads and blow it off and then its just a normal gun. Not sure what happens with BFAs that grab the barrel externally but I doubt that they are designed to stop live rounds. |

In Ukraine, the closest to success is a continued guerrilla war, and that could result in a civil war being ignited, Medvedev & Co have facilitated the means ad justifications for a popular uprising against their own interests through their incompetence and brutality to their own population. Having selectively concentrated their abuse on the provinces, they have opened up lines of division which seems short sighted. Medvedev's comments further reinforce the real threat that remains beyond Ukraine to former CIS states, and to the former soviet block countries. If there is a threat to Russia, it is home grown. |
