Possibly a false flag to justify other Russian actions? Ukraine of course denies it, they must have seen the no flying drones sign and realised they would be liable for a fine..

Ref, footage on BBC news web site. Strange that 2 people are walking up the dome steps at the same time, and some one happens to be videoing it.
I call maskirovka. Is this going to be an excuse to bomb Zelensky's palace, or even his person? Hoperfully other footage will come out from security cameras that can clarify the flightline of the drone and whether it was actually heading towards the Kremlin and this video isn't a cleverly set up angle to make it appear so. |
Footage of the first strike:

How do both drones manage to catch the identical "support wire" for the "proper" flag, both exploding some two or more meters past the "proper" flag pole, 2 hours apart. Nope, its all faked.

Perfectly captured from every angle, and with the detonation of a small firework. Hardly an assassination attempt (if it was - poor effort and must try harder). I am smelling something and it is not sheep or cows...
Could somebody zoom in on the flag and see if has "FALSE" emblazoned upon it. |
Medvedev's take:
1. If Russia were capable of assassinating Zelensky, they would have done it already 2. The drone could only be considered an assassination attempt if the person flying it genuinely thought that Putin spends his nights sitting on the roof |
I seem to remember they tried that several times before.

Now the propagandists blame us as the reason behind all the expelled Diplomats across the world, just as well they couldn’t invade us without the help of China

So there were to climbers on the Kremlin dome, they were on the way up after the first strike and were seen as the second one hit.
The first drone hit from the opposite direction, film here. https://twitter.com/kromark |

Very pleased my country is considered to be foe number one. Had a bad moment when I couldn't advance past page 15 but deleting cookies fixed it. Keep up the great work Nutloose, ORAC and others. Thanks.

Definitely something odd about those drone strikes. Are we expected to believe that a couple of slow flying drones travelled around 300 miles across Russia from the Ukrainian border without being detected?
Someone smarter than me could work out the speed from the video frame rate. My guess is no more than 100kts from just eyeballing it. They look to be flying very slowly. Perhaps Russia might want to explain how their state of the art air defence systems failed to detect these drones for the three hours or so they were flying over Russian territory. |
a. Sun Tzu would probably advocate the strategy of taking out the enemy king/leader in order to end a war.
b. Clausewitz would (perhaps) identify Putin as a center of gravity (strategic CoG in any case) worth targeting with the aim of ending the war by removing the center of gravity. From the perspective of an objective analysis (if indeed Ukraine sent in a few drones to try and take out the head of government) this was an attempt at a decapitation strike that was worth trying if you are Ukraine.
