They would say that, wouldn’t they. Let’s wait for BDR and any indications of radioactive fallout.

Fordow not seriously damaged, Iranian official says

Iranian officials have disputed Trump’s claim that their nuclear facilities were “obliterated”.

Mohammad Manan Raisi, a lawmaker for Qom, near Fordow, told the semi-official Fars news agency the facility had not been seriously damaged.

Iranian media quoted Iran’s nuclear body as saying there were no signs of contamination after the attacks, and no danger to residents living nearby.

Hassan Abedini, deputy political head of Iran’s state broadcaster, said Iran had evacuated the three sites some time ago.

“The enriched uranium reserves had been transferred from the nuclear centres and there are no materials left there that, if targeted, would cause radiation and be harmful to our compatriots,” he told the channel.

Not Fornow.

And there you have it. Giant ego time. Iran officials have just stuck out their collective chin and said, "That didn't hurt! What else you got?"

Asking for it, or what? Are there no diplomats on either side? By such verbal utterances, war is ever thus propagated.

Will the US take the bait and go in again? Will Iran seek to nail one of the B2s this time?

What does a B-2 cost? I see about $2 billion each....

This will not end well for anyone. By striking a nuclear facility, it also signals to Russia that it is acceptable.

Six US B-2 stealth bombers dropped a dozen GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators on Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility overnight, according to US officials cited by CNN. Two additional MOPs were used against the Natanz site.

Responses:

I do wonder if any of the Russians were killed in the strikes.

Iran has launched the Kheibar missile at Israel for the first time. The Kheibar, or Khorramshahr-4, is a medium-range ballistic missile with a 2,000 km range and high maneuverability. Known for its heavy warhead and interception evasion, it's a major asset in Iran’s

US and UK News channels are reporting 3 x B-2s, and 6 x GBU-57s.
We won't know the exact details for a while.

I somehow think that this will not happen, he has just opened up a can of worms for Americans the world over.

Trump: “The thug must make peace.” He warned Iran of further strikes after declaring the US attacks on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan a complete military success. “Iran’s nuclear sites are destroyed. Tehran is now forced to seek peace,” he said.

But the Russians have been attacking civil nuclear infrastructure in Ukraine, so they do not need any message.

NutLoose 22nd June 2025 09:28

Not in the context of aiming to destroy it though, more as a bargaining threat in that they can hit them. They never seriously hit one where it was likely to be destroyed.

The Houthi’s have declared war on the US, I wonder how many other Arab states will also join in. If Iran starts targeting American bases in the area, will that escalate as other Arab nations respond to Irans attacks on their countries?
Oil prices are likely to rise over this, and that helps the Russian cause, Europe has already delayed the cut in prices to affect Russia due to the ongoing issues in the Middle East.

Yemeni Houthi's have officially declared its intent to enter the war. The country's military says it is ready to target US ships in its territorial waters. This follows earlier warnings from the Houthis in case of American strikes on Iran.

ORAC.you have got to admit that compared to Trump the Iranians are the paragons of truth.

In a way Trump brought this about by cancelling the Obama Iran nuclear agreement in 2018

The U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in 2018, has had significant and multifaceted impacts. These include the reimposition of U.S. sanctions on Iran, which has affected various sectors of the Iranian economy and limited international business with Iran. Additionally, Iran has, in response, reduced its commitments to the JCPOA, increasing its uranium enrichment levels and stockpiles. The situation has also led to heightened tensions in the region and strained diplomatic relations, particularly between the U.S. and Iran, as well as with other JCPOA signatories.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Reinstatement of U.S. Sanctions:
  • The U.S. withdrawal paved the way for the reimposition of sanctions that had been lifted under the JCPOA.
  • These sanctions targeted various sectors of the Iranian economy, including oil, banking, shipping, and automotive.
  • The sanctions also targeted non-U.S. companies doing business with Iran, creating a challenging situation for international businesses.
  • The U.S. government has also revoked general licenses and authorizations for certain activities involving Iran.

2. Iran's Response and Reduced JCPOA Commitments:
  • In response to the U.S. withdrawal and reinstated sanctions, Iran began to reduce its compliance with the JCPOA.
  • Iran has increased its uranium enrichment levels beyond the limits set by the JCPOA.
  • Iran has also increased its stockpile of enriched uranium.
  • Despite these actions, Iran has maintained cooperation with the IAEA and allows inspectors access to its nuclear facilities.

3. Regional Tensions and Diplomatic Fallout:
  • The U.S. withdrawal and Iran's actions have heightened tensions in the Middle East.
  • Diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Iran, as well as with other JCPOA signatories, have been strained.
  • The situation has raised concerns about the potential for escalation and conflict.
  • There are ongoing efforts by other JCPOA signatories, such as the E3 (France, Germany, and the UK), to preserve the deal and salvage what remains of it.

4. Economic Consequences:
  • The reimposition of U.S. sanctions has had a significant impact on the Iranian economy, limiting its access to global markets and financial systems.
  • Businesses have faced challenges in continuing or initiating trade with Iran due to the risk of U.S. sanctions.
  • The withdrawal has also impacted the ability of European and other international companies to do business with Iran.
  • There has been an effort to create a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) to facilitate transactions that would otherwise be subject to U.S. sanctions.

5. Ongoing Efforts to Revive the Deal:
  • Despite the challenges, efforts continue to find a way to revive the JCPOA or negotiate a new agreement.
  • However, the prospects for a successful revival of the deal remain uncertain.
  • The JCPOA itself does not expire until October 2025.

Oh, the irony!

Nutlose seems to be worried about opening a can of worms. But which can of worms, the one over there, or the one over.....there. I think the world has been paralised about opening any can of worms. I think we should really just suck it up and open all the cans, let the worms fall where they will and deal with it. Even a bad plan is better than no plan. The world can step up quickly to get the job done, it did it in 1939 and it can be done again.

Russia is being belted around the ears by the Ukrainians, Iran has just been taken care of. It's now time to look towards China and say, "you're next, if you misbehave ......... punk".
