The yellow and black guarded switch, just above the ASI, is labelled "Pylon Stores Jettison". That probably points towards it been a Strikemaster I guess.

First try at posting a pic, so apologies in advance if it is a c**k-up!

As an aside, the pilot flying 642 in this photo is Al Brindle, who has featured on PPRune a few times, not least as one of the '22' in the Hunter Loop at F'boro. I took this in 1968.

Hi Fishtailed,
It was nice to see a picture of Percy on PPRuNe. I wish I had a £1 for every time I have sat in the cockpit of one of those writing down Torque ITT Ng Np and fuel flow at idle. Stans in winter was the coldest, Riyadh in summer with the ECS on full hot was the hottest. Ouarzazate was the most interesting, the only flight trial I have been on where the team mutinied aginst the leader. Brough and Warton were fairly mundane in comparison. :ok:

Yes it's a Strikemaster Mk 82.

I recognized Percy too. Flew her in 1999 prior to a five year stint in the sand box. I wonder where she is given all the training is done at KFAA now.

Great shot of the Vulcan tanking. I did it a few times during that brief period but never had the camera along with me.

Fox3WheresMyBanana 12th Nov 2012 19:42

There was a Lightning pilot nicknamed Spock, after a few AAR incidents where he kept f#cking Vulcans.

VinRouge 12th Nov 2012 20:18
