Time for our RN colleagues to re-embelish their flag :E

Time for the RN to put a few more Argie ships on the bottom
of the ocean as artificial reefs ! And then she can have another photo op of welcoming the crew back to port, sans ship !!! |
500N, not a bad idea, in terms of sending a message.
|
500N, not a lot of targets:
4 destroyers 9 corvettes 3 submarines 1 amphibious cargo ship 1 amphibious command ship 6 patrol boats 2 fast attack craft 16 auxiliary ship |
PN
You only need one :O And wouldn't it be a lot safer to do it via Submarine that any other way ? Plus of course the added benefit of some crew getting live fire experience with Torpedo's which is probably severely lacking (and of course being able to fly the Jolly Roger on return to base just to create a bit more controversy ?:O). |
I was just suggesting that it would be a non-target-rich environment but a limpet mine attack might be necessary:)
|
PN
How about the Klepper Canoes get broken out of storage and a new version of Cockleshell Heroes is made :O or Operation Rimau :O A few limpet mines going off in the harbour would certainly concentrate her mind on what is important ! |
if we're looking at gratuitous sabre rattling, why not send a pair of Typhoons to meet CFK's aircraft when she leaves on her tour of LatAm, Europe and the ME - you know, to 'wish her well', and 'make sure she's safe'...
how many people concurrently voiding their bowls does it take to overwhelm the air-conditioning system of a passenger aircraft these days? |
cokecan
Now that would be funny and probably cause her to have a fit :O |
500N, the Americans wouldn't like it. Brazil would take action.
Certainly you would have to convince all it's you that are the good guys, defending something, down there in the South Atlantic. |
keesje, stick, end, wrong. Read the post properly.

I don't think the UK Gov't would really give a toss what the US thinks. Brazil ? Take action ? I doubt it. We, as in the UK, don't need to convince anyone, we are defending our citizens, it was only 30+ years ago that we proved it. I would say that it is up to Argie to prove they own it and the Islanders want the Argies - ie fat chance :O I would still like to see her wet her pants when she saw a Typhoon out of her window, I reckon that would be so funny. |

Just about sums up the President of Argentina and all the sniffing Presidents of other South American countries that think they might get a bit :O |
Do in the three Subs....and that leaves them well screwed for going up against the RN......there still is a surface flotilla in the RN isn't there......hard to call it a Fleet anymore.
|
We'll need something to detect the 3 subs ... sad we don't have any Nimrod aircraft to do the job :{
So that will need to be a preemptive by a few SEALS in the harbour at Mar del Plata then :E |
SEALS? are we borrowing them from the USA. Much better idea to let the SBS boys have some fun:E
Their SSKs are all getting on a bit, the design dates back to the 70s. |
they're still Boxhead designs, and they know about Submarines!
i thought that only one Sub was actually complete, and that the other two were still in crates requiring assembly - and had, to some extent been canibalised to keep the one in service - or have i mesed up my figures? |
Apparently, like the rest of the Argentine military, their subs are in rag order and during 2012 the entire submarine force combined spent less than 20 hours submerged.
I probably spent more time under water whilst taking baths during 2012! |
