Critics were virtually unanimous in their praise for the 2002 Turner Prize entrant by the Russian artist known only as Fulcrum. The sole dissenting voice was that of Brian Sewell, who wrote a coruscating critique of installation art in his Evening Standard column. He stated that Fulcrum's work was "simply ghastly; fraudulent, tendentious, specious and showy".

His "mime trapped in a box" party piece wasn't as funny as it had been in the Mess. Either it was the limited space, or it was because the audience for this performance had spent 12 hours without alcohol.
