If I understood it correctly the Russians are claimimg to be destroying the Ukranian "drones" in most of these attacks. Perhaps what they are not saying is that putting a large ship in the way so the "drones" self destruct is not a cost effective solution.

Ukraine has received industrial printers from the USA to print spares on the battlefield.

I have no idea why they are doing this unless it is to remove a tourist attraction or it Is a demolition exercise.

I don’t know who I am more disgusted with, the Russian (probably drunk) that ran him over or those that ignored it.

Was that really Russian artillery shooting their own? The accuracy of the explosion, a single one, seems to suggest maybe something buried in the ground, rather than an artillery shot. Just a thought....

Looks like the truck pulled over & possibly the driver went back, but totally agree about everyone ignoring him.

It's heart breaking to see these 'Liberated villages', that are now really just houses with no roofs and basically piles of rubble...!

Sorry, replied to the wrong post; meant to reply to post #5066 above.
I would imagine Russia has the exact coordinates of their positions in case they are over run by Ukraine and also to avoid hitting them when firing in support.

It can be standard practice for any large ship to request a tug if the Captain needs it especially if the waterway is narrow or the Captain not familiar with the area. It's more an `Espirit de corps` thing for the Captain of a naval ship to not be `towed` into harbour.
Of course it also happens when a ship is damaged.
Take your pick.

Very common for military ships to use tugs. My local port insists that any vessel of low manuverabilty ie no bow thrusters must take assistance from tugs. For example the canberra class LPD have both bow thrusters and azipods so a very manuverable ship. When he docks she always has a couple of tugs tied up just incase

“Assuming zero corruption and money laundering”

Big ask, but it’s a starting point….

Russia has spent $25.6 billion on compensation to families of deceased soldiers and $21 billion on compensation to the wounded.

Putin has previously signed a decree earlier in the year ordering the payout of $68,800 to the families of deceased and $41,300 to soldiers that are wounded. Using this we can get a glance at potential Russian casualties assuming zero corruption and money laundering…….

According to Russian expenditures, Russian casualties in the past 18 months are as follows:

KIA: 372,093
WIA: 508,474
Total Casualties: 880,567

Now this, if Blinken didn’t misspeak, is a major, major, policy change from the USA.

Their previous position was US provided arms/equipment could only be used in Ukraine (including Crimea). It now looks like Russia is fair game….

BREAKING: The U.S. says that it does not "encourage or enable" Ukraine to use American weapons outside its borders but the ultimate decision is Ukraine's.

This statement from Antony Blinken challenges the prevailing view that Ukraine has been effectively mandated by NATO allies not to use specific weapons systems against Russia

A crucial policy clarification as the US edges closer to giving Ukraine ATACMS

Over the past 4 days Ukrainian forces has continued to take positions south of Robotyne.

Tokmak is preparing to become the backbone of Russia's second main line of defense. Roadblocks and anti-tank fortifications are being installed around the settlement.

The reason the advance is slow is they are now fighting uphill to capture the high ground with the artillery positions to dominate Tokmak and the railway and roads in the valley below.

What do people eat in the Ukrainian military?

I visited a brigade last week to learn about officers’ training. But I can’t talk about that

I was most fascinated by cooking. Imagine you have to feed 1000 people 3 times every day in the woods w/o electricity and fridges 1/
