Hasn't the state of MQs always been dire? in 1976 my then wife and I moved into a two bed MQ that was heated with single fireplace with hot water from a solid fuel boiler in the kitchen, that would boil the tank if used too enthusiastically. The place was a concrete prefab with zero insulation and metal crittal windows that were warped and twisted so none shut properly. Works and bricks had "fixed" some of the broken window frames by bolting them closed. Meant there was no opening window in one of the bedrooms at all. The lino tiles on the ground floor were lifting and warped, with the black gunge supposed to be holding them down coming out around the cracks and joins. The kitchen units (if they could be called that) were falling apart such that a couple of the drawers were unusable. The back door had been patched with a sheet of nailed on plywood as a temporary repair that had clearly been done years before, as the plywood was delaminating.

When I was at Saints in 76 a young girl was injured because the contractors had used normal glass in a door instead of safety glass, the young girl had ran down stairs and went straight through the glass door come screen resulting in horrific injuries.

When did the obsession with pointless mission statements morph into its current iteration? When they were invented I’m sure people obsessed over inventing a pithy statement to summarise their role. Nowadays it seems the aim is purely to come up with something that sounds cool but has zero relevance or credibility.

Here at Amey we are experts at turning taxpayers money into shareholder dividends and executive bonuses whilst ignoring the basic essentials of life for all those families who have sworn to serve their country.
They can have that for free. I won’t charge. I doubt there’s any money left in the budget anyway.
And please don’t get me started on the £144M to man the phones. I’m pretty sure a dozen of us with our iPhones could do a better job of call forwarding.

MoD’s “New Accommodation Offer” is about to be launch. While the changes are good for some, most married officers will have their housing entitlement cut by around 40%. This significant cut in conditions which will drive many officers out of the services.

Wow! Our last OMQ wasn't bad for a wg cdr/no kids!
Shameful
This is nothing but a cynical attempt to force people out onto the open market, be that rental or purchase. All in order to hide the fact that the housing stock is dilapidated and in short supply.
It will blow up in their faces but probably won’t be felt for 3 years or more. Thats handy for those that have implemented it.

Sorry, Bob ... just highlighting the difference between then and now, The new scales are seriously depressing.
So a future Stn Cdr without kids would only be entitled to a 2 bed house?

The one thing those charts show is the cuts stop at Brigadier or Colonel... strange that, no Air Commodores, AVM's, Generals or Admirals etc.. etc appear to be effected.

As migrants were mentioned, an interesting read on military bases for the use off.
Personally if they do not like what is offered, then they should be kicked out and on their own to fend for themselves. no second choices or chances.
