Third Poseidon MRA Mk 1 delivered
ZP803 arrived last week, ZP804 to follow before the end of the year. When '805 arrives they will have as many P-8s as the original Nimrod MR1 squadrons.
Given the possible cuts to Wedgetail numbers can we count on all nine being delivered? I

I have a strong suspicion (but no evidence!) that the fourth may well be named after a VC winner.
ZP804 is named ‘Spirit of Reykjavik’ honouring the Icelandic WWll location of CXX Sqn and their contribution to the closing of the North Atlantic Air Gap to ‘U’ boat wolf packs leading to victory in Battle of the Atlantic. The aircraft is being delivered to Lossiemouth this afternoon.

Also a totally bullsh1t quote from someone who claimed to have spoken to a submariner. For those of us who do this type of thing for a living, whether dark or light blue, we all know the real deal and do not feel the need to either brag about or belittle our ASW comrades.

My guess is, they have to write something in the public spec sheet.
With alt and stand off of the P-8, it would make more sense, "if needed" to put MAD and a sniffer on a UAV. Heck there may even be a seat on the P-8 to control a few. The last time I heard hydrocarbons, he was complaining about ambient pollution.

The fifth Poseidon ZP805 aka Fulmar has arrived at the former HMS Fulmar. 55.56% delivered.
