On the whole the most influential and dynamic PM the UK has seen since WW2 who did much to restore the confidence of the UK.
But there was a down side, please remember that her governments plans should have sold the Aircraft carriers and a lot of the RN's amphibious warfare ships had the Falklands crisis not erupted and saves them.
On the social front there are still mining community's in the north who have not recovered from the closures of the pits.
While not wishing to disrespect her resolve and achievements I think a little balance is required on this thread.

I fully agree with Wholigan that this thread is a pleasure to read. It slipped for a few posts, but remains a point for seeing just how to praise Margaret Thatcher as a prime minister who cared. There is another - Winston Churchill. They can both be said in the same breath. Churchill was my hero during the war and Margaret Thatcher my hero at the times she proved over and over again what a brilliant politician she was.
Seeing some photographs of layabouts, AND not a few students, dancing and drinking to her death, it leads one to ask what they think they know about the real Margaret Thatcher.
Love or hate her, she was probably the greatest leader in the world and gave the British the opportunity to hold their heads high. Faults and warts 'an all she was British through and through.

Touching the title of this thread, Margaret Thatcher was a tremendous blessing to Britain.
She was proud to be British and she was proud to be a Christian, both now rare qualities in our 21st century.
May she indeed rest in peace knowing that she gave it her all. Job well done Madam!

Mrs T only said that she didn't want a flypast for her funeral "because it would be a waste of money" and for no other reason. We should do one anyway, just to let the scumbags (Galloway, Kinnock, Livingstone, Adams, et al) know she had the respect of the RAF as well as the other Services.
Mrs T also looked after the police, improving their pay and conditions in the early 80's. The government then needed them regularly in the 80's and 90's and continued to stand by them. The current mob in power seem to be hell bent on destroying police moral and reducing them to the level of contractors with all the downsides of redundancy but without any protection or industrial rights. At the same time they pay lip service to the demands of the job whilst expecting us to be there to defend the status quo and themselves whenever they feel threatened.
A flypast by the last remaining VC10 CMk1 would be very appropriate - she was very fond of 10 Sqn and presented their new standard in 1988.

To ignore the more controversial decisions that are made by a person is to fail to understand the difficult, opposing factors that are involved in government and does little service to the character of the person making those decisions.

I echo virtually all that has been said above, but I have to voice my disgust at the actions of those who might not have agreed, or were adversely affected by her Government's policies, but in no circumstances is the disgusting "anti-Thatcher" behaviour seen in some places justified.
