Oooops. Misunderstanding.
Just one more question I must ask...What can I expect from the interview?
Is it similar to the filter interview at AFCO but with current affairs added on?

NCA at OASC
hi guys
gonna get straight to the point , are applicants for NCA treated differently at OASC.
what i mean is are they expected to know as much as an aspiring officer. ( of course its in each indaviduals best interest to gather as much info as poss and do stacks of research to give them selfs the best chance at success )
Is le-way given to NCA applicants in say the interview, planning ex and leadership tasks.
or at the risk of answering my own question , is everybody treaded as potential pilots. in the event that a NCA applicant ( or any applicant who might be applying for a different branch ) has the aptitude and quallities of a future pilot.

Everyone is treated the same no matter what branch you are going for. As you know, the entry qulas for NCA are lower and you have to pass different aptitude tests and the medical standards required may differ from pilot slightly.
With the interview and exercises, they'll ask you about your branch choice. Your overall score may look different to an officer candidate's but the scoring method is the same as some candidates apply for NCA and officer at the same time.
Don't think about leeway- just do your absolute best and put 100% in all the time. Some NCA candidates score more highly than officer candidates...

It's been known for NCA applicants to go to OASC and get offered commissions. True story.

All treated the same
From my time at OASC as a Boarding Officer, I can say that everyone is treated the same until the final stage when the Boarding Officers along with the Board Presidents look at the scores. There were different bands in the scoring relating to Officer entry and NCA. The scores required for NCA were marginally lower. But that was just the summation of all the scores at the end. In the interview all candidates were scored against the same criteria however on making a recommendation on someone's suitability then you did consider where you thought their particular skills lay.

Good evening folks,
I am up at OASC on the 2nd September with the hope of joing the RAF as a pilot.
Obviously i am currently deep into revision. I feel that i have done well so far. I am just looking for any possible advice with regards to things i maybe asked whilst at OASC. I have a good background knowledge of the RAF.
Im am now up to date with all current affairs, pilot training processes, IOT process, Nato and UN.
If anybody has any other ideas as to what i maybe tested on, please let me know.
Regards, Ollie

Recruiting Q&A's - E-Goat :: The Totally Unofficial Royal Air Force Rumour Network forums Lots of info about OASC there.
Armed Forces - The Student Room Lots of upto date information from people in your position who have just been to OASC.
Good luck.

Can you fly with the UAS with the intention on joing the Royal Navy afterwards or are there different Naval Squadrons?
The OC and other QFIs did occasionally try to suggest to me that I would find the flying more varied and satisfying if I joined the RAF, but other than that there was no adverse effect on my time with the UAS at all (and what a great time that was!).
I would suggest you are really up front about it at interview - but make sure you have some very good reasons why you wish to fly in the RN rather than the RAF.
Have to be undergraduate with at least 3 semesters of study remaining and under 23.
EDIT: unless a medical student with a cadetship.

Any tips or facts about becoming an RAF pilot?
Hi,
I was wondering if there are any pilots out there that are already in the RAF that would be able to give me any hints or tips that would give me the best possible chance of becoming a pilot in the RAF.
This has been a dream ever since i was little but am now 21. I didn't know what i wanted to do when i went to college although i always had a love for the Tornado and the RAF (as my grandad was a navigator in the war). I really feel that this is what i want now and was hoping that people could give me advice on what to do.
I have rung for my first appointment with the AFCO but was wondering if there were any special qualifications that would be needed.
The app says that you have to have 5 GCSE's which i have and 2 A-Levels (I have obtained a BTEC which is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels). From that i should be able to apply no problem, however, the BTEC i have is nothing technical, in fact it is a media BTEC. Would this stand me in a lesser light to others? Also, once i have spoken to them and if i get offered an interview, what would you reccommend that i research for the interview?
I really want this job, it is my version of a dream job. To be a pilot in the RAF would be unbelieveable and more over to be a fighter pilot in the RAF would be a dream come true! If anyone could give me advice i would be extremely grateful.
Thanks,
Tony

My tip top tip would be to read the sticky thread at the top titled " OASC 'CANDIDATES' and WANNABES, PLEASE READ THIS THREAD FIRST!"
You don't need two A-levels as such, I believe. You need 140 UCAS points, and so long as your course has a UCAS points rating, and it's worth 140 or more, then you should be OK, but you will need to confirm this with the AFCO.
