To be fair the bulk of the thanks must go to:
PtP
Farmboy
Moodybitch
Sven
DozyBint
Tigs2
P2
and a number of others who have been out delivering leaflets and persuading people to sign the petition. All I've done is write the leaflet script and do a bit of behind the scenes stuff.
Thanks also to you guys. I know "Betty's Flying Club" barely counts as HMF, but you do like to feel as if you belong to the armed forces, bless so it's nice to have the moral support if nothing else
Off back to where the big boys hang out.

I remember you well kbf1. A walking well, into which the beer can easily flow! Good nights them.
MDVC operate a webcam service so those interested in following the committee hearing can log on and observe, though I hear service is patchy and you need RealPlayer 8 to view.
Capt Peter Norton GC has agreed to speak on behalf of BlueTeam. I also heard a rumour that a certain Ghurka VC who was helped gain entry to the UK with the assistance of an ARRSE campaign may also try and attend, but this is just rumour thus far.
My initial advice on the matter was to try and get a public hearing. Planning cttees tend to try and steer out of contentious decisions by going to a public hearing then seeing who turns up on the day. Yes, the arguments have to be valid, but presenting over 200 letters of support from the Shadow Defence Minister and widow of Earl Mountbatten amongst others, as well as a petition with over 20,000 signatures is likely to "persuade" those councillors that it would not be "politik" to refuse unless there were solid grounds to do so, other than a flimsy reading of the local planning document. This is an argument a long way from won, but ARRSE HQ is planning a phase 2 counter-offensive should this prove necessary.

Not all the local residents are to$$ers. While out and about tabbing, we chatted at length with Jon Rutherford, and Trevor Macdonald and Linda Lusardi (I think!) were very friendly and supportive too. It was high summer and a couple of residents would chat and offer us cool drinks. There was none of this awful selfish attitude that these nouveau riche imbeciles seem to be infected with.
Pass on my very best to the troops kbf1, I think you're all doing an outstanding job. I have put the petition link onto about 15 messsageboards, and I'm pleased to say the response has been universal and supportive. What you guys are doing is appreciated out there in the real world, don't be in any doubt of that.

It really pisses me off to see my allies go from good treatment in Landstuhl (US Army Hospital), where their families were taken care of in the Fisher House(s), to a place in their home country that doesn't seem to welcome their presence at all.
Shameful

Star of stage, screen, internet and now the Daily Telegraph
Hey Tigs (and everyone else),
Vicki's brilliant article is on page 26 of the printed edition of today's Telegraph, bang opposite the Leader Page :-)
Rush out and buy your piece of history before they sell out!

I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could
Re the petition, got a round robin from the Colonel. I should have studied the distribution history, probably more addressees that the 'utterly utterly' email.

Now that my reading ability is unhampered by Deuchars and Scapa, well done! When do you do a deal with OK and Hello and show the Nation round your kitchen, you meeja star you!?
In future, on meeting the Tigs, should one kneel or merely kiss hands?

Re the Healey court Petition.
Well my flabber is gasted to coin a phrase. Since I left the RAF in 2001 after 42 years I have worked as a case worker for SSAFA Forces help. My "patch" includes Dalton barracks where most of the troops are in, or just going to either of the two fiasco's out east. The support, We, in SSAFA, get locally, is tremendous! Just where are these people in Surrey coming from. It strikes me as the same mentality as those idiots who have been P****ing in fresh water bowsers in the Tewksbury & Gloucester area. And then they wonder why the armed forces have a recruiting problem?
The petition is great but the results need to be announced in all the local papers down there and shame these people into withdrawing the objections.
I have dealt with some of the cases referred to Headley Court and believe you me, trying to find accommodation around there for families is hard work. The British Legion are great at supporting us financially to pay for B&B as are some of the Regimental Benevolent funds.
I know PPrune is doing a grand job at spreading the word so can we as individuals lobby our MP's and try to get more government support for this issue.
Many thanks for reading,
yours disgustedly

Excellent article by Vicki Woods in Saturday's Torygraph with a good tribute to Pprune and ARRSE. She obviously took some of it straight from ARRSE.

Ha! Andy Warhol promised it to us all!! Well thats me done ..bugger and I didnt even get my real name in I quite fancy the hands but only at weekends!
Anyway there must have been a dozen people today down in Ahstead talking to the locals and giving out leaflets (Sorry Pop didn't get time to call you). 98% of locals are on our side. Lots of old boys came out the woodwork today. Met one Matlot and one Royal Wesh Rifleman who were in Burma at the same time as Mr Pun VC. Moody Bitch on ARRSE had arranged to have a bicycle with a two sided advertising board to go round and round the village. On it was an awesome poster by Psywar on ARRSE of a picture of a soldier marching through green belt land with the strap line 'SHOT IN IRAQ' - 'STABBED IN THE BACK IN GREYS LANE'
The local Chelsea Tractors were slowing down and the occupants laughing - all on side. We only had one chap stop, get out of his car and rant and rave. The boys think it was the same guy I had the contact with mentioned in the Telegraph.
Cargosales took many photos which hopefully some may be uploaded later, but we did question him when we saw him taking pictures outside the 'Abbey National'. He says he was taking pictures of the above poster that they had put in their window, but it looked to us like he was photoing the cash machine, which he strongly denied. If you hear of a smash and grab on the Abbey tonight in Ashtead, remember where you heard it first!! Cargo where are you?
Thank you to all, and the boys and girls from ARRSE, we had all three services represented a truely purple affair.
