This is VERY sad news indeed. I know some of the serving guys on the Herc fleet (and some who have left the airforce now), my thaughts and prayers tonight will very much be with them all - as well as all of our guys and girls serving out in the middle east at the moment.

This is a nightmare come true for the 'Albert Family' but I implore everyone to let the families and Squadrons (along with Regiments/HM Ships) hear the sad news in private - with NO added speculation.

My most sincere condoloences to the bereaved families - I am heartbroken with you.

God Bless Them - Warriors All.

To everyone. PLEASE..........do NOT speculate. Do NOT name names. Do NOT name squadrons. That which is known and is in the public domain is for now is the only news that should be stated on here.

REMEMBER. There are those who sadly need solid news please don't make their lives any worse than it is now.

God bless all those involved.

Awful news; thoughts with the families and all at Lyneham. I was at Lyneham when 193 was lost - a terrible, sad time. Wishing also, all strength to the ex-colleagues who are having to console and comfort the families.

Deepest Condolence to the families of all involved.....RIP

I believe this is apt:

O ruler of the earth and sky,
Be with our airmen when they fly,
And keep them in thy loving air
From all the perils of the air:
O hear us when we cry to thee
From those who fly o'er land and sea

O Trinity of love and power
Our breathren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them whereso'er they go:
And ever let there rise to thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea

SAD DAY FOR Lyneham

This is very sad news for all stationed at Lyneham and elsewhere.
As an ex trukkie my thoughts and prayers go out to all.
Many of you will be waiting for news of what has happened. I can tell you that from a previous job after Lyneham no news will be released from MoD or Lyneham until all next of kin have been informed, so please, please do not post anything on pprune until the authorities have done their bit. I know how hard that may be but please have a thought for all those families and friends who have lost loved ones today.
