Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

"We've been through everything to do with 3,4,5 triangles and even Pythagoras Sir but we still can't find out what it's got to do with the 'angle of attack'!"

An early flight simulator was good at holding the aircraft in all kinds of attitudes, but rather slow at responding to movements of the controls.

Extract from the Report of PIlot Officer Pprune:

"I made a normal landing and while on the roll-out I moved the stick gently forward to bring the nosewheel into contact with the ground.

"Unfortunately there was a defect on this aircraft in that the nosewheel had been re-fitted at the back.

"I suggest the following addition to the Pilot's Notes : 'Check to ensure that all wheels have been properly located. Adding extra wheels after an incident is not to be regarded as satisfactory.' "

Hoskins, it is a generally well understood principle that the left turn onto final is conducted prior to landing.
