Norse has hired many Narrow body pilots. Nice company doing well.

Of course, it's not about the size. On average, and for most, working on a wide-body allows you to have a much better work life balance.


I should have added in my previous post that "for some groups of pilots, this is the only company."
Not everyone has the right to work in European companies.
For me personally, the situation is even worse, since there are very few companies that are willing to hire a pilot with a passport from one ****ty country that has been canceled in the developed world. So Emirates becomes almost the best company in these circumstances

as in some part I agree with you when it comes to ****ty countries, having said that you can get easily a visa and work permit in Europe once you have a job offer so that’s not really a barrier to apply

I would in no way, shape or form, call it 'easy', but I'm more than willing to be proven wrong - how long would the process take? Would a European carrier be willing to wait while I complete this process? Logically, the required licence would have also had to have been obtained (also, in my book at least, not 'easy' by any stretch, and certainly not cheap either).

Genuinely curious exactly how 'easy' this would be (it's a subjective word of course).

the reason is simpl - authorities don’t want you on the social security receiving end. Times are good now once you come with a secure job and you contribute to the system, and pay your self for your life

The only one I can think of is perhaps Ryanair going to Brazil and South Africa. That's only 2 countries in the world though and they only take captains.

Pretty much every job ad states the requirement to be able to live and work in the EU, or UK for UK Airlines

Hello fellow aviators I hope everyone is having a good day. I am curious if anyone has been recently invited for an assessment even though the careers page says Registration - First Officer A380 & B777. What is the timeline like for the assessment invitations recently? I have met all of the requirements recently for an FO position but it seems Emirates is too slow to give an invitation for an assessment. Anyone went through this phase recently can kindly share their experience would be highly appreciated.

Exactly my experience, ticking the South African and Captain box, hence my curiosity about the 'easy' access to the EU - and I agree with what I think you're saying, one company certainly does not make it 'easy' - in fact, my experience of my colleagues going to Ryanair was that without the right to work in the EU, they were limited to Irish (not even sure about that now!) or UK bases, and could not work in EU bases. That may be different now, I don't know.

Quite possibly the case, lots of SA guys in Dublin. A lot of the Brazilians I've flown with also had EU citizenship before coming to Europe via grandparents. If true it highlights how it's nearly impossible to get into the EU/UK for work for most of the world.

Hello all. A quick question for all current/or past EK employees. I have an offer which will likely see me leave LHS in a national airline, money will be better, cost of living lower and we think lifestyle more exciting. We have a young baby and I'm curious if anyone can perhaps point me in the direction of or DM me regarding life for the significant others who move down. Is there a social scene, easy to make friends etc? All help much appreciated.

Yes. They put you in a villa in Meydan with hundreds of other pilots, most of whom are married, many with families. You'll have a ready made social circle.

Within a week or maybe never. It all depends on if you hit the profile they are looking for that week…. and what the CVs of the other applicants looks like!

Thank you for a quick reply, I reapplied 2 days back since they changed their hiring criteria. Earlier it said Registration for an FO position now it has changed to FO position meaning it's a proper hiring ad now so I assume they now need pilots that's why it has changed. So on that case applicants should expect a callup soon I assume isn't that the case?

Again that depends on your CV. Meeting the minimum requirements does not entitle you to get called. It all depends on your experience compared to the others who have applied!
