The topic of the title is "Emirates Application."
However, it has always been turned into "Why you shouldn't join Emirates" by people who used to work at Emirates, resigned or are currently working. I think it is not right to talk behind the backs of some people from the administration by giving nationality and names here. I see that even the new pilots who join the company are criticized. It would be best if you did not forget that the people you criticize are your colleagues. I believe that new applicants to Emirates are not satisfied with such off-topic and gossipy correspondence. I wish every colleague a good weekend regardless of the flight time. Otherwise EK could have called every single pilot who has been laid off, back, but they did not response to the majority. |

For all those still in EK and come here on a regular basis to hate on the airline, you should really ask yourselves why you’re there!
My partner works in EK, the majority of pilots working in the company are content with life, there’s just a few miserable ones who are more than welcome to share their opinions but they want to attempt to represent a majority. And scare people from joining. |

Ladies and Gents, please don't trow any rocks here ;)
This is a honest question in the correct topic from someone going to Dubai for the Final 2 days Assessment. Providing all goes well, how many years is taking for the command upgrade on the Airbus Fleet please ? I heard and know completely different numbers. Some SFOs are apparently starting the command training after 5 years but during my online interview I was told 8-9 years by a non-technical person. I've been flying and living in the ME for 5 years now so please, I honestly don't need any lessons on how it is to live/fly in the region. Thank you in advance |

I've been reading a lot about this "desperate need of pilots" of Emirates.
But it's been 3 months that I've recorded the interview video, and not a single word since there... |

I made my online process through in august and september and my assessment was supposed to be in October. A day after they send my visa, hotel and ticket arrangements, I received an email telling that they have cancelled my assessment and would notify when it will be available again. It's been 3.5 month since then no updates yet. I have no idea what's going on.
Finally I got an email to perform some online assessment, after concluding, another one with dates to pick for assessment in Dubai. I picked March, let’s see how it will work. Some friends who did the online video on the same week I did, haven't heard from them yet.. |
Relevant info
If anyone makes it passed literally 29 pages of topic derailment, here is a detailed overview of the entire assessment process from someone who has done it recently as an A380 candidate:
Step 1 - Apply: Apply online from the latest position. If you're eligible based on the initial requirements they'll get back to you by email requesting more info and documents. Step 2 - Online Saville Test and Abstract Reasoning: If everything is fine with your documents they will email you with a small congratulations and ask you to book a time to do a Saville (Personality test) and Abstract reasoning test (Finding the next sequence of shapes). This is colloquially known as the psychometric test. All done online. Step 3 - Online HR interview: Should you pass step 2, they will again email you with a small congratulations and ask you to go online and book a slot for an online HR interview test online. It was done through Microsoft Teams with an HR rep and an interviewer who is technically proficient with aviation. Step 4 - 2 day assessment in Dubai: If everything is okay with your HR interview you will be emailed again with yet another congrats and an invitation to come to Dubai. From here you can negotiate a suitable time, tickets, visas and travel details - all through email.
You will then get an email asking for references, which has to be from your management or training department and a final security check. At this stage they are still evaluating everything. Step 6 - Final congrats, contract signage and advise to resign: Once everything has been checked they will now email you as to a good time to have a phone call. On the phone call you will receive a final congrats and negotiate potential starting dates. This is also where they may inform you that you haven't been successful. Once that's done you will receive an email to sign onto a portal and sign a contract digitally as well as all your pay breakdowns. Once that's done you will receive a final email stating it is safe to resign at the earliest. Since most of this info is common knowledge, I'll also include some commonly asked questions about the process: How long before x?: Everything happened extremely quickly between all the above steps - within days of each other. The only time it took a relatively long time was after coming home from the assessment in Dubai. Between step 4 and step 5 it took roughly a month and between step 5 and step 6 it took roughly 2 weeks. Please keep in mind things might have changed recently as recruitment may be slowing down. I've applied but not heard back: My advise would be to make sure your application is with the latest job offer and not an old one. If in doubt email [email protected] with your application number. They are extremely helpful and reply promptly. I was unsuccessful during x, how long before I can apply again?: 1 year, unless something has changed recently. Which fleet will I be assigned if successful?: Was told categorically from the recruitment team, Airbus goes to 380, Boeing goes to 777, unless something has changed recently. Hope this helps |
Hi TogaTaxi, thank you for sharing that! May I ask if Emirates asked you to submit any medical report from your AME ?

How long after completing step 6 was the start date?
|
Did anybody get an invite for the selection without having flown in the last year? Since the requirement for 150 hr in the last 12 months is removed.

Looks like they not only want you to be flying, but to be flying specific types recently.
