You guys think they will tel you what’s going on? Emirates didn’t even tell their own staff if they were coming back whilst they recruited new ones. It’s the Middle East, get used to it. Stop moaning and be patient, you’ll need to be if you are coming here.

It’s very naive for anyone to believe that all EK pilots laid off during COVID19 would be called back. The airline has the luxury of choosing who to be called back. Everyone has a record at these kind of airlines. More likely than not, there’s a good reason why someone wasn’t recalled. It could be due to a below standard training record, troubles down route, problems on the line etc.
Airlines used this opportunity to get rid of people (who were a nuisance to the company), as brutal as it sounds. Objectively, it doesn’t sound like it was fair for all pilots laid off but we don’t always know the full story. Even in the UK, look at BA. They didn’t call back everyone did they, under BALPAs watch? And they started external recruitment. |

I've been reading a lot about this "desperate need of pilots" of Emirates.
But it's been 3 months that I've recorded the interview video, and not a single word since there... Colleagues have been waiting months to have their applications processed for internal promotions, never mind external recruitment. I have said it many times and will repeat it again: HR has always been and is utterly disorganised. Now more than ever, given we still have 380s parked in storage that the airline could probably fill. |

EK FO Hiring
Hello Everyone.
I would like to know if EK is hiring FO’s now. I had applied on their website six months ago but the application status still shows “Registration Under Review” I have about 4200 hours total time. 2600 hours on Q400 1600 hours A320/321 (currently flying) |
Applied in December, and from less than a month ago my application shows "shortlisted". Similar total time as you.

Negative, as per their website this is what they require:
- Minimum of 2000 hours flying multi-engine, multi-crew, turboprop and/or jet aircraft with a MTOW ≥ 20T OR - Minimum of 3000 hours flying multi-engine, multi-crew, turboprop and/or jet aircraft with a MTOW between 10T & 20T; simulator time cannot be accepted Google for 210000JW and you will find this job position. Correct me if I am wrong. |
EC-KIY
You're wrong! Take a look at the Emirates Group Careers Website and you'll find your answer. And I quote..... "To qualify for this opportunity, you will need a minimum of 2000 hours on Airbus FBW or modern Boeing type" Don't be too quick to pull the trigger............... |
They have indeed changed the requirements. It seems quite a few turboproppers are failing the initial training. Too bad because there are some good pilots out there. That they decided to stop lowering the reqs means they know they are balancing on the edge here. Experience levels have sunk(en) to the bottom. What to do?

secondly EK does not have a training, and with low or nearly zero experience, as their is no real training, those pilots are meant to fail and that can happen to every inexperienced pilot with an ease no matter if he/she flew turbo prop or something else. why is that the same pilot falling EK makes a career anywhere else. still there are hundreds out there want to come back not being called. All of them have proofed they are capable to the „EK standards“ over years and years and now being reject over not fulfilling the requirements or did not get an answer to their rejoin application. EK management is just simply complete of the rails, and caught in arrogance. experience level have sunken because of Missmanagement, Missmanagements in the training department, and choosing the wrong people of being in charge of certain departments looking only after their own pocket getting filled as long it’s possible. An A380 is just another airplane the individual can learn to fly and manage, not a miracle. The rest is experience you build over time. each individual is only protecting him self being fired by AAR and his ridiculous management style, in the hope to be the next STC |

I would say that has nothing to do with turbopropers - some EK trainers are highly against turbopropers in the first place, therefore some don’t even have a chance to learn.

Maybe due to the pilot shortages.. |

I totally agree.
Must say that training seems a bit more relaxt. Maybe due to the pilot shortages.. my latest typrating I did was build on the fact it is a new Typ and made to fullfill the expectations at the end. A 180 degree approach to the training task. |
What a useless thread. Shouldnt this be about the assessment and NOT about why you shouldnt join Emirates?

EK is normal assessment as any other. 4-stages and that’s it. If you are so confident that is the right thing to do just go there pass the assessment and of you go. getting in is no miracle, staying there and surviving is a complete other story. |

The topic of the title is "Emirates Application."
However, it has always been turned into "Why you shouldn't join Emirates" by people who used to work at Emirates, resigned or are currently working. I think it is not right to talk behind the backs of some people from the administration by giving nationality and names here. I see that even the new pilots who join the company are criticized. It would be best if you did not forget that the people you criticize are your colleagues. I believe that new applicants to Emirates are not satisfied with such off-topic and gossipy correspondence. I wish every colleague a good weekend regardless of the flight time. |
