I think I hear crickets (or Gryllidae for the pedantic).

Taiguin 7th Mar 2013 09:28

Last report of an invitation for interview we have was for early April I think...

Anybody been invited for assessment end of April onwards?!

HellIamHere 14th Mar 2013 17:48

Compass test

Hey guys, I'm new here in the forum. I applied to EK in January and I will be in Dubai in April for the selection program.

I already started my preparation and bought the Skytest, that I find well done.
I was just wondering about the real composition of the compass test in EK, since it seems to be a bit easier than the Skytest.

I mostly refer to math. Problems are not difficult but, since they are generated with random values to keep up the training, I often get into decimal values. That is ok but, since all the calculations are mentally done with just paper and pencil, they make you lose some time. Do you guys know if it applies to the EK tests, too?

Any other suggestion for the kind of psychometric tests I can refer in Skytest to better calibrate my preparation?

Thanks in advance for those who already passed the selection and want to share their experience!

H.I.H.

Don't know what to think

I applied back in Feb 2012 for FO, was shortlisted, then got email saying I qualify for DEC, asked to apply, so I did, also shortlisted. Then Capt window closed, now shortlisted for FO, but nothing yet.
12000hrs plus TTL, 5000hrs on A321/320/319 (3500 as PIC/1500 as SIC).
No idea if they will even ever call me, i wonder even why they tell me to apply as DEC, even if I met their minimum, when they knew they weren't even going to call me, i should have left my app as FO only....
Now I can't even remove my DEC app from their database, I think they keep bypassing me until their DEC reopens again.....I don't know...
Any ideas anyone?

HellIamHere 20th Mar 2013 18:58

Why don't you rmail them asking about your status?

PAMPA2000 22nd Mar 2013 07:40

^^ desperation, that's why.

Scanwing 24th Mar 2013 10:28

I know that in the past you could apply with less then the minimum hours provided you had it at time of joining. Has anyone recently applied and been offered interview with less than the required hours?

Cheers

Taiguin 24th Mar 2013 13:50

I think early last year when recruitment was in overdrive that was most certainly the case. I myself attended the pre-selection before I had their minimum requirements. Back then it was even on the website that you could apply 500hrs short of the requirement.

At the moment however recruitment is much slower and with a pool of applicants with much more than the required minimum hours I'm not sure you'd hear anything from them if you apply now.

It is worth a try though but if I were you i'd expect to have to wait a while for interview even when you meet the minimum hours. Most of us have the minimum hours and have been waiting for a while for a call to finish the rest of the process.

Hang in there!! :ok:

PW2040 2nd Apr 2013 15:10

Hi all.

I applied oct 5 2012 and was shortlisted oct 7 2012, Call for interview jan 16 2013, but I had to decline because things has changed in my life.

4100 TT , 330 hr B727, 650 hr B757 and 1950 hr B767 , 1900 hr PIC B767

Regards,
PW2040

Pampa,

Keep trying until you get a response. I'm guessing your email hasn't reached the right person or else they were flooded with emails and passed over yours. If I had your qualifications I'm not sure I would want to spend 7 years or so in the right seat at EK. Think hard about that one. Dubai is getting more expensive by the day and EK knows how to get every ounce of productivity out of their employees.

PW2040 2nd Apr 2013 17:22

Good luck for everybody still on shortlist :ok:

MXB737 5th Apr 2013 06:43

HELLO EVERYBODY,

I havenīt apply yet, I have 4900TT (1700-E145 F/O, 2000-E190 F/O, 1000-737NG F/O) should you guys think thats enough or I should wait a little bit more.
What Iīve been reading is that people called for the interviews are pilots higher rated, I would appreciate your advices.

PSI. In a general way what do you think about SKY TEST softwares?

THANKS, FROM MEXICO.

Taiguin 10th Apr 2013 15:03

I would submit your application now. I'm not sure how your hours compare to the rest of the shortlister's but you've got to be "in it to win it" as they say.

If you do have to wait for an interview at least when the time comes you will have shown your patient and demonstrated your longer term interest in EK.

Anybody heard anything more about interviews in May/June etc or has it gone all quiet!?

Capt. Flamingo 11th Apr 2013 05:10

Que onda MXB737?

You have the minimum hours so you don't loose anything with applying.

p.s. no dejes aeromexico por venirte aqui.

Saludos

Any idea what a change from shortlisted to SHORTLISTED signifies?

EK interview shortlist for FO'S

How many hours do you have Avro? On which type?

GetOffMyBack 15th Apr 2013 07:03

Any idea what sim they are using at the moment for interviews?

Taiguin 15th Apr 2013 08:47

Hey Lakunas,

Congratulations on being invited. For those of us waiting for the call can I ask:-

When did you get the call / when is your assessment / how many hours do you have?!

There is plenty of info on PPrune about the assessment centre if you trawl a bit.

Good luck! :ok:

groundtoflightdeck 15th Apr 2013 10:43

When I went through Boeing people used the 777 and Airbus people used the A330 and A380. So its just a spin of the wheel.

Good Luck!

AvroRider 15th Apr 2013 10:54

nrn : How many hours do you have Avro? On which type?
Hello nrn,

I have 4000h+ TT and 700h+ Airbus A32F. The rest is mainly on the Avro RJ.

EDIT : BTW congrats for entering the shortlisted pool ! :ok:

lakunas 15th Apr 2013 13:58

Total time 10500 with 4500 jet PIC 737 and A319/320. I never got the call. I was shortlisted for about 2 mths and few days ago I received an e-mail with the offer for an interview in May. Will see. Since I'm flying in May and my schedule has been already made ( no chance to swap), I'll have to get another date. Will see.
Looking for any info on how to prepare for an interview.

Cheers

smiler68 15th Apr 2013 16:40

Reliable source tells me interviews on hold for boeing guys while priorities shift to Direct entry 380 FO's. Sit tight.

safelife 15th Apr 2013 17:13

A330 FO, just got shortlisted. Was in the queue since quite some time, but refused to be interviewed once before as I couldn't get any days off to match their interviews.
They asked my to update my application which had very limited A330 hours on by then, but shortlisted me before I was even able to update it.

A320_jockey 15th Apr 2013 18:36

Applied 2 weeks ago, shortlisted few days later.

TT 3000
A320 2500+

It seems they invite now guys with much higher experience, so we may wait some time...

enthusiast 15th Apr 2013 18:58

applied approximately a year ago, have been shortlisted for 5 months.

3000+ TT, 2800+ A320 family.

hope to be invited in the first half of this year.

Is it important what airlines I work for, as well as 55 tons experience?
or just rely on jet time and the type of fleet?

nrn 16th Apr 2013 15:32

Hello all,

I've just purchased skytest (middle east edition).

What parts are relevant?
I know compass is important but how much physics and how much of the psychometric test is usefull?

Many thanks

EK interview shortlist for FO'S

Are you refering to the shortlisted SHORTLISTED question?

023DRIVER 29th Apr 2013 21:58

shortlisted to SHORTLISTED

yes. SHORTLISTED in capital letters means that,

tonker 29th Apr 2013 22:00

Are you saying there is lowercase 2nd fifteen type of short list, and then there is a capitals SHORTLIST, start packing the sun cream type of list?

Jumbito 30th Apr 2013 12:54

I went from "shortlisted" to "under review" to "SHORTLISTED" in capitals. Applied around Sept 2012 3800TT / 3300 A320. Still waiting for the magic call :)

flyboyike 30th Apr 2013 13:06

Applied August of 2012, checked my application yesterday and saw that I was shortlisted. No idea how long that's been the case. 5024TT, around 4000Jet, no Boeing or Airbus time at all.
