Lakerat

Hi!
Did you get an e-mail saying that you were shortlisted or you just got your status changed to "shortlisted" in the emirates careers website?

I'm asking this because I never got an e-mail saying that I was shortlisted. I simply noticed that my status changed to "shortlisted".

Thanks!

LakeRat 25th Jan 2013 01:32

I received an email stating I was shortlisted along with my status changed from under review to shortlisted.

flyzede 25th Jan 2013 07:59

Have you been shortlisted without receiving an e-mail?

Thanks LakeRat

To all of the others:
Am I the odd one here? Or any of you also got your status changed to "shortlisted" without receiving any e-mail stating that?

Thanks.

bluesaddict 26th Jan 2013 12:27

AFAIK when you log into EK web, you have to set it to receive an email.

I hope this helps.

falcon10 28th Jan 2013 23:06

What is the latest regarding interviews? Are they calling for Boeing-only or Airbus-only interviews or is the interview the same and fleet decided on when offer is presented?

Is it normal for an interview to be scheduled and then cancelled because their "Boeing interview slots" were already full and thought you had a Airbus rating?

Some things just dont add up in their latest round of interview invites...

bluesaddict 29th Jan 2013 06:11

Well, about interviews being cancelled because of not having the type rating it happened to me last march. So it's not new.

Good luck and tailwinds to all

fatbus 29th Jan 2013 07:04

There is no more full transitions onto the 330 , only 320 -330 CCQ due to the large number of 320 pilots applying. More than likely only airbus experience will get applicants on the 380 from the the street.

Just_landed 30th Jan 2013 14:44

I am shortlisted for over a year now, but never recieved a mail stating the same. :ugh:

donpizmeov 31st Jan 2013 09:46

I see IASCO are advertising for DEC A380 for Skymark Airlines. 1500 PIC on anything CRJ200 or bigger for the gig.
Pay would seem to be half what everyone would pay, but the sushi is fresh I guess. 20 days on 10 days off.
A good place to wait for your EK FO interview perhaps?

The Don

Mr Good Cat 31st Jan 2013 10:04

Well, sort of. They want non-rated Captains for the 737 with the chance to upgrade to the A380 if it eventually arrives as planned in 2014.

1500 hrs PIC on a RJ straight into the left seat of a 380? That's a huge step and I'm not sure I would be flying Skymark airlines during Typhoon season as a pax if that's the case.

And before anyone slates me I'm not questioning the abilities of RJ pilots or in fact anybody. I know all command time counts for something. Just having made the step-up from the LHS 737 to the LHS 777 I can say from experience that it's a huge learning curve.

Especially if you're doing it outside the US or Europe.

:ooh:

donpizmeov 31st Jan 2013 10:53

This place really does need a sarcasm button.

Hi Guys, just a little update, I was over in Dubai last month, and there were about 20 of us there, and apparently they had 20 the week before. Everyone was Airbus or Boeing rated, and I was told by one of the recruitment team that that wouldn't change for a long time as they have a huge amount of applications they can choose from. They seem to be quite selective too, as no one from the previous week made the grade, and only 8 of us made it through from our group, with 3 of those failing the medical. Seems like interviews are really ramping up now though, so a lot of you should hear something very soon. Good luck everyone.

Touch'n'oops 5th Feb 2013 11:35

To those who have their status as "Under Review", how long has it been for you?

Me its been nearly a month. I got to that within a week of applying. Guess there's a lot of guys to churn through.

Are you saying only 5 out of 40 made it through final selection in Dubai? Did you do the PSP1 before going out to Dubai. I had heard a 50% pass rate for PSP.

bluesaddict 5th Feb 2013 17:29

Did they tell you for how long were they going to take only Airbus or Boeing pilots?

Thanks,

Taiguin 12th Feb 2013 08:21

Anybody heard anything yet regarding interview dates? I've done part of the PSP in 2011 and just sitting tight wanting to carry on with the rest of the process!!

JPHIL68 19th Feb 2013 19:36

Stills no news from novembre for me , but really really want to leave my airline and my country

WJAPilot 21st Feb 2013 04:30

What are the latest upgrade times for new hire FO's.

WJP

DuneMentat 21st Feb 2013 05:06

It's hard to tell but the last upgrade joined in the middle of 2009 so about 3.5 years but it's hard to predict what happens in the future..

fatbus 21st Feb 2013 05:35

It's running @5 years due to the number of pilots that were by passes . Don't forget those that failed will get another chance. It's been written before 3600 pilots now 1800 Capts and 1800 FO's do the maths, next new hire is 3601. New hires do not have an AC to upgrade onto based on the current fleet plan. This year there might be more upgrades on the 330 this year, regardless of AC retirements .

Assessment Preparation

Hi, Does anyone have a recommendation for preparation for compass testing? I have the Skytest for DLR, wandering if its worth downloading the latest Skytest for Middle East carriers? Can anyone who has recently completed the PSP in AMS elaborate on what the assessment consisted of, any variation from what used to happen in Dubai as previously mentioned? Thanks in advance, and good luck to those with upcoming assessments!

Taiguin 26th Feb 2013 10:09

Congratulations and good luck to those that have been called for interview!! Things appear to moving but slower than they have in the past.

A quick question for the guys attending the PSP NOT than the full interview...What hours/experience have you guys got?!

Still sitting tight here....;)

A320fanatic 26th Feb 2013 13:20

Hi all, I applied in March 2012, got shortlisted quickly, received an email in November again saying I was shortlisted for future A380 selections and asking for an update of my application, which I did... haven't heard anything from EK since then, now I am reading that guys having applied less than 2 months ago are getting called for interviews ...!!???

Anybody else in the same situation?

A320 5000hrs total, 4700 on type ...

lfrk 26th Feb 2013 14:14

We are way too many F/O on the mini airbus fleet, flying 40-50h/month in average (at least me and lot of my friends for the last 3-4months)

I guess they've postponed the DEFO 380 program until the have the correct figures of how many 380 ek will get in 2013. DEFO will happen but not right now, maybe 2d part of 2013 it's just my guest....

By the way there is also too many F/O on the 380 as well...be patient or ask for the 777

A320fanatic 26th Feb 2013 15:35

After 200 hours to be correct, Bus Driver Man also has the same figures..

I guess you're from the US, I did my flight training there and I know it was also shocking for our american instructors to hear we were already flying twinjets when they were still busting there asses instructing on PA28's to build some hours ... but that's the way it mostly goes in Europe, some lucky friends of mine even got to begin on 757 ...

Anyways, thanks lfrk...but I have been waiting for nearly a year and patience is not really my thing!

I would love to go on the 777 fleet, much more than on the Airbus actually, but I don't think the choice is in my hands ... ??

Also, a colleague of mine is starting at EK in less than a month as a DEFO 380 ...

I guess this just doesn't make sense:ugh:

just have to wait and see...inshallah!

spider_man 26th Feb 2013 21:57

I believe we will be there in early September, Inshallah!

Failure rate is massive, I was really impressed!
Where did most of the guys in your group fall down, in your opinion?

vfenext 27th Feb 2013 03:24

We were assessed for the A380 since the beginning.
I think you will find that you were assessed for wherever they want to put you! The assessment is the same for all fleets.

lfrk 27th Feb 2013 05:55

Directly from the A380 chief pilot last week meeting,
9 or maybe 11 new 380 in 2013, aircrafts leaving 4 A343 (2 gone already), 2 A345, 2 A332. He said now there are leaving for sure. but who knows...

That's why, with all the leaving aircrafts they have too many F/O, there is no need for DEFO380 now...

Terrain Noted 27th Feb 2013 20:19

And what about the 777 fleet, do they still need FO's or are there enough in the holding pool?
Does anybody know how many deliveries will there be this year?

PHANTOM II 3rd Mar 2013 16:41

Mine is under review from November 2012.
5100 TT
3100 A320.

flyer19832007 3rd Mar 2013 19:52

If rumours are true, with 2000 applications on file, and no doubt increasing, may I pose the question as to what selection criteria EK use with regard to calling for interview? If there is indeed one of course.

I have seen many posts of candidates which far exceed the minimum requirements for the positions for FO, yet some have been waiting longer than others for an assessment.

I only ask as when I do eventually apply, I will be a

"4000 hours of which 2000 shall be on a jet....candidate" Which is not a current EK type.

I expect it may be a bit of a wait for an assessment!

falcon10 3rd Mar 2013 20:25

I was contacted in December to interview in January. Dates were full so I was pushed off to February. Dates were full again and was told to expect March. Now I have been told my application was re-evaluated and I have been taken off the interview list and shortlisted again. What a crock! :=

fatbus 4th Mar 2013 03:48

Unfortunately it's supply and demand. Hugh increase in CV's from high time pilots.

falcon10 4th Mar 2013 03:56

Is 10k TT with 6k on the Boeing, among others, not high enough?

Despot75 4th Mar 2013 04:09

Obviously not!

falcon10 4th Mar 2013 04:14

To be uninvited to interview with double or triple the time of others that have been called makes little sense.

donpizmeov 4th Mar 2013 04:28

Is your time on a type comparable to the EK fleet? As they say all hours are equal but some are more equal than others.
At least you get to see what the company is like prior to start date.

The Don.

falcon10 4th Mar 2013 05:25

Last I checked a wide body Boeing was comparable to the ek fleet. Whatever.
