Hi! I've applied with the 2500 jet (A320) and according to my status I've been shortlisted. Now lets see for how long I'll be waiting for the call...

Take care!

ItsAllUpInTheAir 2nd Dec 2012 14:10

Things do seem to be moving once again, got an email asking me to attend in December, hope the rest of you hear soon!

McNulty 2nd Dec 2012 21:10

thats good news, congrats....when did you apply/what experience you have?

ItsAllUpInTheAir 3rd Dec 2012 10:55

3200 hrs 737, applied last year and done pre selection already, from what i hear full assessments starting in January, but you know what the rumour mill is like, so not sure if thats true or not!

McNulty 3rd Dec 2012 13:35

Cool, I have a friend who was called who had also done the pre selection....good luck with it.

pilot3103 6th Dec 2012 00:18

Anyone heard anything or any news please? Ta

groundtoflightdeck 6th Dec 2012 11:02

FO interviews are beibg scheduled again. Courses filled till April 2013. Now recruiting directly to the A380. Still hiring on the Boeing 777... thats the long and short of it. ..

McBruce 6th Dec 2012 12:46

Are there any additional requirements for new applicants to be selected for the A380?

flyzede 6th Dec 2012 13:23

DEFO A380

On the 24th of November someone posted on this thread that the requirement to be selected directly into the A380 is 3000 hours on Airbus (fly-by-wire).

McNulty 6th Dec 2012 13:25

Anyone know if EK try to keep people with boeing backgrounds on the 777 fleet and people with airbus backgrounds on the airbus fleets?

groundtoflightdeck 6th Dec 2012 13:53

I'm an Airbus guy with Boeing on my email so... no.

McBruce 6th Dec 2012 14:14

Ah well I have several thousand on the Boeing so no DE onto the A380!

safelife 6th Dec 2012 14:23

1000 h on A330 and another 1500 hrs on A320ies. Any chance of A380 DFO for me at this time?

fatbus 7th Dec 2012 04:34

DEFO 380 start date not confirmed yet so interviewing for that might not have started yet, it is going to happen. A boeing pilot that scores well on the interview would be considered for the 380/330, a high score puts you at the top and than it can ve what ever course needs to be filled first.Funny how only a few months ago everyone one was saying delay until they offer you 777 .

donpizmeov 7th Dec 2012 09:16

Word on the street is 3000hrs of which 1500hrs are FBW Bus required for DEFO 380. 1st course is planned for Apr..ish. Hold pool is emptied to all bar 60 I believe. Some of those will be invited back to re-interview.

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 09:49

So The Don, do you have any idea on when will they start calling the shortlisted?

Thanks.

enthusiast 7th Dec 2012 12:22

2500 hrs on a minibus only. A few weeks ago, I got a call for phone interview. After few questions, the recruiter said we will call you in feb or mar. Then my application status was changed from "Under review" to "shortlisted". I hope to be interviewed asap.......

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 12:27

Sounds good, I got that phone call in April but the recruiter didn't give me a date......I guess CRJ 900/1000 time is not good enough.

donpizmeov 7th Dec 2012 14:38

Bluey,

I think they are already calling people for interviews.

the Don

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 14:42

Thanks, I've read somewhere else that priority is given to Airbus and Boeing rated pilots.
I was given a slot for Madrid PSP but then I was put in standby......I hope they still give me a chance.....

goooselio 7th Dec 2012 14:46

Is that true that priority is given to Airbus or Boeing rated guys who are shortlisted?
Can't find the info on the website....
Thanks for the reply

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 14:49

Requirements: For the position of First Officer (prior to joining):
  • A minimum of 4000 hours total flying time (may include 25% P3 or FEO time to a max of 500 hr).
  • A minimum of 2000 hours multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft. (P3 time cannot be used for this requirement).
    OR
  • A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time on a modern commercial multi-engine, multi-crew aircraft jet. (P3 time cannot be used for this requirement)
  • Must hold a valid ICAO ATPL
  • English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension); ICAO English level (4 or above)
  • Type rated would be advantageous
From EK web,

goooselio 7th Dec 2012 14:52

yeah thanks but it is advantageous not mandatory.
Anyway, i'm on the RJ. Hope they will give us our chance soon.....

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 14:54

I hope so. Let's see if EK people can shed some light.

goooselio 7th Dec 2012 14:58

Are you also flying on the RJ blues?

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 15:00

Yep, flying CRJs

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 19:03

I got invited for the PSP a month after applying, I was given a date, but then a few days before the tests I got uninvited.....It seems that they got a lot of CVs from people flying "common cockpit" and they neede my slot.
A month later I got a phone call from EK and my application went from "under review" to "shortlisted" again. And that's all I know until now....

McNulty 7th Dec 2012 20:14

Boeing....shortlisted for 9 months....only received standard emails, never a phone call....would it kill them to give a very quick, basic, courtesy call once every 9 months to let me know i havent been forgotten....considering i'm trying to plan the next 3-10 years of my life with them....whinge....

bluesaddict 7th Dec 2012 20:21

I agree with you.....

Wizofoz 8th Dec 2012 05:37

Is it true there's now a second payscale?
No, it isn't.

triple7BR 10th Dec 2012 19:44

Shortlisted since Jan/12, invited to the PSP in ATLANTA but received an e-mail stating there was no more availability 15 days after responding with my possible dates.. Got a call last week from an international dialer at 08h00UTC but couldnt answer it.(never received one in this number before). Someone else got a call ? Think they might be starting to call for interview in Dubai again this month, maybe it was really from them.

falcon10 12th Dec 2012 05:33

Appears invites are going out for January interviews according to some friends of mine who have been shortlisted since April 2012.

Curiously, what is the usual time frame from interview to class date now that the backlog/pool has been drained somewhat? Also, are new hires really going into the 380?

a318319320 12th Dec 2012 10:36

From interview to class usually is 2, 3 months. It also depends on how much time you have to give to your present company.
I confirm new hires are going to the A380.

archer_737 12th Dec 2012 11:42

From interview to class 2 or 3 months... :ugh:
Interviewed May 2012, still waiting for course :=

fringhtok 12th Dec 2012 12:04

2 or 3 months from interview to starting is the 'normal' timeframe. It's changed now due to the DEC hiring, which led to the pool many of you are in. The pool is Darwinian in nature. You're selected out of the pool in order of your relative desirability, as assessed in the interview. Those who scored the highest have started or will soon start, lower scores are still waiting. The good news is that the lower scores are still good enough and it should only be a matter of time. I can also confirm new hires can go to the 380. Initially, only those with extensive airbus time, but I expect that will change soon enough. Good luck.

fatbus 12th Dec 2012 13:10

DEFO 380 most likely not until Jul. I don't think any of that is confirmed .

groundtoflightdeck 12th Dec 2012 16:48

The only specific confirmation is that the invite email says they are recruiting for A380 and 777. It could be the case that there is no plans to schedule courses until summer still.

bluesaddict 12th Dec 2012 16:52

But for now only for type-rated people, right? A colleague, who seems to know some pilots in EK has told me that invitations for Non typed pilots will start in March, do you know anything?

Thanks guys!
