Can anyone shed some light on what a pre selection day consists of, and what the requirements are? As in do you need an ATPL and be 500 hours short of min requirements?
Thanks. |

Hello all,
Quick question: At present, is EK giving any credit for military hours? I have just over 1800TT, majority on single seat jets, which obviously does not satisfy the FO min reqs stated on the website, but I have heard rumours/opinion that this may be factored in some way. Thanks in advance. |
No dont think so..but this might change, who knows?

You'll need some real time - forget single-seat jets:cool: |
Regarding flying hours.
Hello everyone,
Does EK accept a signed declaration from your airline regarding flying hours. My present airline won't stamp my logbook since it is not an official procedure here, but instead it does provide me with a stamped and signed declaration stating the number of hours I have flown. Thank you very much. |
Hy friend, i have the same question, since i have my hours in a declaration instead of a logbook.
|
hi everyone,
how long does it take from application to interview? received email to be shortlisted 2 weeks ago 10x! |
Would anyone who has done the sim assessment at heathrow recently care to elaborate? PM is fine if preferred!
Thanks. |
Study,study,study ! :ok:
|
My application went from "not shortlisted" to "under review" after I submitted my updates which include a B777 type rating with time on type. Should I expect to hear something soon? I am still less than 500 hours short of mins.
|
Anyone been to the sim at Cranebank yesterday have any feedback?? I have mine Friday
|
Does anyone have any experience with the interview prep by Elite Assessment?
I have seen something offered at Latestpilotjobs.com. Any recommendations? |
Same inquiry
:hmm::hmm the same question i posted a few weeks ago with no clear answer. Please if anyone has information or experience with the software, lets us know. Your information, comments, and/or advice may help to save a few bucks or to make more bucks :) thanks
|
Hi there, I think I have read it somewhere here, but I ask it anyhow. Does Emirates accepts the P2X rating?
If that is the case, they have opened the eyes of the Cathay cadets I think.. not? |
Selection Help
Heard really good things about elite. Suposed to help nail compas test and also interview prep. Not heard about the other one but the more stuff you have the better I guess.

First post here. Go easy on me.
Apparently all the Miami simulator slots for interviews in January have been assigned. With the need for 500 pilots next year, does anyone know if they are planning any other dates in the US or would they fly US applicants over to DXB for the full 4 day interview? What kind of capacity does the EK training college have to run new hire classes? How many at a time? Do they generally run big classes every few months, or small classes every few weeks? Thanks. |
Goldthrop,
New classes every week, normally 8-12 at a time. Good luck. |
Today we were around 20. Tomorrow more people will be having the chance.
By the way! I passed the first tests and Sim!! Let's go for the next step!:ok::ok: |
what really amazes me...
..is too see all this people now so excited about joining and in 12 months time the same people bitching on this very same forum... ah ah ah!!:ugh:
Ek is so desperate would hire blind pilots.... Keep discovering..well.. recovering. |
I can't speak for all the applicants, but for some of us, Emirates would be a step up/improvement from what we are doing right now. At least during the interview process we would get a better feel for whether it would be anyway. Timing is all relative. It sounds like (from reading this and other forums) EK used to treat their pilots better than they do now. If it's worse compared to other places that you've worked before, or even worse than when you started at EK, that's one side of the coin. The other is for many of us currently working at jobs that are already worse than EK has become.
I come here to gain valuable knowledge about what I might be getting myself in to. I also realize that in life, people generally find it easier to rant about the bad than the good. Do you think airlines get more letters of thanks or more complaints? We all know the answer. I'm still keeping an open mind, and will use all the information I can gather up until the point EK either says "no thanks" or "yes please." |
Goldthop, that is a very mature and balanced outlook...... something of a rarity on this forum.
Jetaim, you may be interested to know that the approximate 2 year average success rate at EK selection is less than 40%. Hardly reeks of the desperation which you quote now does it? Now I'm hazarding a guess here, but are you one of the 60%??:hmm: |
I have asked it already, but didn't get an answer.
So another try: I think I have read somewhere here on PPRune that EK accepts the P2X rating, is this correct? If it is, I think they have an eye on the cadets from Cathay, not? Thanks anyway.. |
Your assumptions are wrong my dear. The worst unfortunate event of my life was actually being part of that 40% ( even less back then actually ) some times ago and having the chance to experience on my own skin the level of imbecility, and arrogance behind that operation.
|
hi, when is your interview date? i have one too from the 5-8 dec. Heard they using 777 sim for the assessment. For the test the faa atpl green book is quiet good otherwise "Ace the pilot interview" thats another one u can read.
|
In reference that they'll hire just about anyone...
But will they raise the age limits? :8 I'm an experienced B777 FO but too old at 54... |
Heathrow sim
Hi,
Has anyone attended the sim assessment in Heathrow recently? Am a few days away and was wondering if some information is sent before the day...I have quite a lot feedback, but am talking about Emirates reading material, unless they expect you to simply turn up and get all the info you need during the briefing which is ok I guess. Thanks jj |
Questions about the pilot assessment tests. Are the questions multiple choice? Do they let you at least use scratch paper to sort out the math?
|
I have looked all though the EK website and I cannot find where the 30ton rule is. Is it internal or did they lift it?
|

Stud....that was also something I wondered whenever I read the requirements but was clearer upon filling in my details as Flyer has mentioned.
One thing I'm still unsure about though is whether you have to have a certain number of hours over 30tons...or do you meet the requirements the moment you log even 1 hour? :} .......does anybody have any idea? |
Well for me I fly both the CRJ200 and 900. I only have about 700 hours on the 900 out of my 2600 hours on jets. I am on my way to DXB tonight for my assessment on Monday. So I would think anyway time over 30 tons could work. Anyway seems to be the case for me.
|
Yes, as long as you have other jet hours in a commercial airline setting, just a couple hours on a greater than 30 tons will work. I have over 4000 total time, and all my jet time on a CRJ-200, and at the EK roadshow I was told if I had just 50 hours on a CRJ-700/900 then I would be called. I think you could be called with even less. All they are really looking for is the fact that you select in your application at least one airplane more than 30 tons from that drop-down menu in flight experience on your application.
|
Guys , been shortlisted for 8 weeks, but no interview invitation....is that normal?
|
Join the club.
I see that they are doing a lot of roadshows these days, so maybe they are out of the office. |

Hello everybody!
Am shortlisted for the past few weeks without a call. My total time on modern jet is 2200h. My question, now when I am shortlisted, should I continue to update my profile at EK with hours or just leave it like this. Thanks for any info, Jack |
Hi,
I was interviewed, passed the sim and compass tests, but failed later. :( What is the reapplying period in this situation? 2 years as they've adviced or shorter as I've heard gossip? |
