I have submitted my online application but dont have any rotary/military jet time. It says then that my application is only 84% complete.. does that matter?

I meet all the other requirements, 4000+ / 30ton etc

skyvan 27th Jan 2012 04:40

Transport Jock, I seem to recall this came up before, and the answer then was that you cannot leave those fields blank (as one would expect) but rather you have to enter the number of hours that you have in that catergory i.e. "0".

Please let us know if this helps.

moneyhoon 27th Jan 2012 05:55

G'day Transport Jock, my application was also at 84% when submitted for the reasons you stated. I have an interview coming up shortly. As long as you got the 'Thank you for your recent application seeking employment with Emirates' email I think you're good.

transport jock 27th Jan 2012 06:35

kewl, thanks for the replies. I will wait for the invite then! ;-)

Whats the top limit of BMI ( body mass index) for the medical pre joining? Not that I'm bothered but Mrs Tightseat seems to think I should find out. Cheers.

safelife 27th Jan 2012 21:23

I thought it was 25 pre- and 30 post joining?

velemax 27th Jan 2012 21:41

I've joined with a BMI of 29.9:D

EK lists their BMI requirements as 18 to 25, but up to 30 as long as certain measurements are not exceeded(or something to that effect).

Shortlisted

I have been "Shortlisted" for a month. Thank you all for the info on this thread. Anyone else being invited for the selection?

Kenny 29th Jan 2012 01:30

Interview emails for March are going out. From what I've seen they tend to send them out about 1.5-2 mnths in advance.

lospilotos 31st Jan 2012 09:41

@Australianguy: EK seems fine to start you on the whole process as long as you are within 500 hours of the 2500 jet.

Amsterdam preselection

I hear EK are holding preselections in Amsterdam soon.
Anybody got any info ? I'm particularly interested in the type of sim they are using.
Could be useful to do a bit of prep.
Cheers,
btg

transport jock 31st Jan 2012 15:26

How much time to you actually need on a aircraft heavier than 30ton? At the roadshow they said just 1 hour is fine, but now i hear u need 2-300 hours?

GShocker 31st Jan 2012 21:21

At least in Europe they are using old style 737-400 sim at BA trainin center at Cranebank, London Heathrow.

belowtheglide 1st Feb 2012 21:00

Thanks GShocker, I appreciate the info.

I probably do have a low iq but at least I'm in the job you are wanting.

Well said! This Aussie wannabe sounds like a screw-ball:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I seem to remember there being LOADS of aussies in the UK in the '90s in flying positions that the unemployed Brits should have had... What goes around:D

falcon10 2nd Feb 2012 17:18

Got a few friends who will be out of a job soon and were wondering how long between applying and getting called to an interview assuming one was well-qualified?

It does not matter if it is US, Australia, UK or anywhere else foreigners should not be able to gain employment over a local applicant - even at EK, I don't think that too many people would have an issue with this. @WN, with regards to the 90s, I understand that most foreign pilots had the right of abode.

Ok. I know some of you guys stateside are illiterate, but to get Knight without the K when it's there in front of your face is just stupid:eek::ugh::E

As for a pony... Sorry chum, it'd be too small:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I can think of many Brits with right of abode in Oz who can't get jobs 'cos of local protectionism!!!

hi,

does anyone know where the a330 type ratings are done? i've been told that's probably what i'll be going onto.

also, are there many people being put directly onto a380? i've heard of a couple, not sure if that's just a rumour though.

many thanks,

b bear

atl sim in march

I just got my email confirmation from EK for my sim session in March in ATL. Unfortunately my schedule won't let me do PSP1. Besides the sim profile on page 144 (that took sometime to find seesshhh!) any other tips, profiles, websites (the one on page 145 is awesome) that any one can offer, or for those who have already accomplished the sim, is that profile still being used? PM me if you want. Thanks in advance, looking forward to the opportunity.

Cheers.
