The Gap-Filler Option

if you're ready for short term approaches you can submit your willingness for any date even with minimum forerun. You're going to be handled as "Gap-Filler" for other applicants who cancel their dates even short.

trick works somtimes:ugh:

Standbylist with anytime readyness works sometimes. Maybe an option to pep your application to get over the wall. I visited Dubai this weekend for some assessment preparation but for Fly Dubai and enjoyed the beautiful area.

Maybe in May or June I'm going to turn back for the next course to prepare Emirates-Selections. Flights are cheap, Hotel BB only GBP 85/night :-) So why not enjoy the sun in Dubai for weekend and combine it with your career.

Course in Dubai?

Any courses on behalf of Flydubai or Emirates in Dubai? sounds cryptic

pemac 30th Apr 2013 08:37

not on behalf of Emirates or Fly Dubai

... it was not on behalf of Emirates or Fly Dubai it was an ATTC-Course. Actually it was a preparation for Saudia Pilots but contents of so called Pilapt-Test seems very close to the Fly Dubai assessment. Same Team-Exercises, Multitasking etc. A friend of mine failed the test with CTC for Fly Dubai in early April. So good preparation for the test might be essential. As mentioned before, nice weekend with some effective training. But (no joke!) rain in Dubai on Saturday!

Emirates selection is different from Fly Dubai, that's why I'm going to repeat it in May or June.

ATTC with Skytest?

Ah ok I know these preparations, it's ATTC with Skytest, didn't know that they are also in UAE. you only mentioned the cheap flights and hotels, probably the course was completely free of charge ;)

Application Status???

G'day all.

I'm less than 100 hours now off the min requirements for EK employement (2000 TTL FO Jet is what's restricting me only).

My Application status was showing in Grey "Under Review" however after submitting an update it has now changed in grey to "Applied".

Any insight into the update status meanings & what to expect, how it works would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers

Interview prep

Hi there, can anyone give me some advise on what's the best materials to go through when preparing for the EK interview...(books, websites, tips, etc) will be appreciated..!

How good are the books "ACE The technical Pilot interview" or "The Complete Airline pilot interview" ...the titles seem good but what about the content!? Is it worth the $25 or so...surely they are cheaper than paying more money on some websites out there...I guess what i want to know is if they are really helpful and close to reality..!!!!?

How are you preparing for the big day!?

Thanks for your replies!

hamd 30th Jun 2013 04:00

ACE

Rgjr,
ACE is probably one of the best materials to help you prepare for the Emirates interview.
A little vast but still the best.
Know it backwards.
And forwards please...;)

There's a, if I may, a 'new vacancy'

Exceptional Opportunities For First Officers Direct To The A380

It's been out just a few days....

IndoLion 8th Jul 2013 04:35

500 hour short consideration

To join Emirates, candidates must have a minimum of 4000 total and 2000 multi-engine jet hours; or a total of 2500 hours on a modern, commercial multi-engine, multi-crew jet aircraft (please note we do not accept simulator time for flying hours calculation), ICAO ATPL and ICAO English level (4 or above). To be invited to the Selection Programme in Dubai, we will consider candidates who are short up to 500 hours of the above requirements

This 500 HOUR short consideration is no longer on the website. Can anyone tell me if it is still valid or if anyone has been invited to the interview with 500 Hours short of the minimum 2500 hour condition.

DEFO A380 vacancie Off the website...any ideas, comments??!

Playmates for Emirates assessment preparation in London

Yesterday I had a phone call with ATTC London, they're going to conduct next Emirates preparation from 07/31 at STN, it lasts 3 days, with the option of free of charge repetition close to the actual test date. I used a similar course April in Dubai. They pledged some discounts for group registrations from at least 3. Don't know wether some mates are already registered or intend to register soon, but if a few get together prices could become more suitable for poor pilots

vinayak 12th Jul 2013 01:01

DEFO 380 vacancy now stands closed. The 500 hour thing's been off for a while...

Good luck to all the guys going in this monday! Ramadan Karim to you'll :)

flyer19832007 14th Jul 2013 17:43

DEFO A380 closed? Still on the website as far as far as I can see.

Otherwise the shortest recruitment drive in the world!

Why the new requirements? From whats seen on here plenty of Bus guys out there with the minimum hours, and more for the position.

atpcliff 14th Jul 2013 19:43

lots more far east carriers lookinf for airbus guys....pay is really high for captains.

RjAgCR 15th Jul 2013 01:11

found it...they just removed the separate ref. number they had for the position a few days ago...

pemac 15th Jul 2013 05:13

less minimum TT but ...

lots more far east carriers lookinf for airbus guys....pay is really high for captains.
yes, and they don't need that high TT's used in middle east, but culturally more difficult obviously. Often you've to start as FO for a while (6 month or more) even if your position/contract is planned as a left hand seat officially. Cpt. sides are vigorously defended by native guys :=

vinayak 15th Jul 2013 08:39

@flyer19832007

That's what I can see off their website. It's showing my application as shortlisted but application closed.

Tried applying for the DEFO a380 for a friend but couldn't find it... Not sure why the new requirement...

EK DEFO A380..! guys I have 6200 TTL with over 2700 hrs on A320 FO and currently flying the E190 as PIC with over 1200 hrs (PIC Time)....do you think they will look at me for the A380 DEFO position eventhough I am not current!?? I meet their min requirement except that I am not current on the Airbus....Just trying to figure what my options are on my application...

donpizmeov 21st Jul 2013 03:20

RjAgCR,

You don't make the Mins as you are not current. There are current Bus drivers everywhere at the moment.
Have you applied to EY? Probably quicker command there to now.

Assessment Day or Open Day?

Hello everyone! I would like to ask for your opinion. I am very interested in joining Emirates. I am from the Philippines. According to Emirate's website, the only open days available in Asia are in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India. But I am not qualified to join the said open days because they require certain language speakers (like Mandarin, Vietnamese speakers). 80% of the Open Day locations are in Europe, which is very impractical for me to attend.

The good thing is that there is an Assessment Day in Ho Chi Min, Vietnam next month and it did not specify that I should be a Vietnamese speaker, etc.

My problem is, is it advisable for me to register on the Vietnam Assessment Day? I have researched a lot and I have never heard someone who applied online and was invited to an assessment day right away. All of them joined an Open Day. Can someone assure me that the HR of Emirates will check my application online and I somehow have a chance that they will invite me to an Assessment Day?

Please help! It has been years since Emirates conducted an Open Day in my country and I cannot afford to waste another 6 months (if ever I get rejected) for an Open Day which always happen outside Asia. Thank you very much and I really appreciate all your help.

Orangewing 21st Jul 2013 11:55

2 things, sweet cheeks.

1) You will have more luck on the hostie forum, mainly pilots here.

2) I don't think it will do you any good going to a foreign roadshow. If they wanted cabin crew from your country, they would have a roadshow there. Simple as that. Emirates try not to have too many of one nationality I think, and we have a lot from the Philippines...

Good luck

I recently applied and got put into a shortlist pool, is this normal? I was a bit surprised as I thought they were hiring as we speak so I half expected to get offered an interview. Does anyone know how long in average one has to wait in the pool? Thanks in advance.

Buys Ballot 22nd Jul 2013 13:40

EK Road Show Gatwick Saturday 27th

---> visited the event at Gatwick last Saturday, interesting so far. 2 officals from EK: Capt. Martin Stephens and Mandy Kelly both are part of the recruiting staff. All applications are checked by Stephens and he outlined very clear, that if the requirements fit, you may be invited to the pre selection phase in Amsterdam very quick. Main focus and selective during PSP1 is the sim session, but pass rate for the capacity part (Compass) approx. more than 80%. If you‘ve got not the 3.000TT-Minimum but you‘re close to it, let‘s say 2.900, he‘d accept the application as well, as the crew demand at EK seems to be extremely high over the next years.

Fubaliera 30th Jul 2013 17:39

Pemac did they say you need 80 percent to pass the compass or that 80 percent pass that part thanks in advance

transport jock 30th Jul 2013 21:03

pity they still sticking to the over 30tonne rule though... You could have 10000hours as a PIC on CRJ's but be overlooked for someone who has 3000 tt on a boeing..
