Hi guys!

I applied to Emirates last week.

Just received a mail saying that they will contact me by phone for a 5-10 minutes call to discuss about my application.

Any info about that?
Kind of questions I can expect?

Thank you!!

EK Current Hiring Status

Hi,

Is anyone aware of the current hiring status at EK? I am an FO with a European airline approaching 2,000hrs A320 time considering applying to EK.

I recently heard a rumour that a friend of a friend in a similar situation applied, was put through the interview process (supposedly passed it?) and was then told he would go in the hold pool till he had 3,000hrs before they will consider him for type rating. Does anyone know how much truth there is to this?

It would seem strange for EK to put someone through a full interview process in DXB with the intention of putting them in a hold pool for 1+ years.

Any feedback would be much appreciated, thanks.

Many things are strange at EK, it’s a way of life here!
They can say one thing one day and change it the next! If they decide something will happen there’s nothing you can do about it!No protection here for you. You have to accept it during the application process as well.
taste of things to come at EK
“Keep discovering”
”Hello tomorrow”
both very apt!!!!!

What airline is not like that?

It's the 2 buckets theory (One you fill with satisfaction and the other you fill with.... Well you can fill in the blanks) when you come to any airline, you will be filling both buckets at every single job out there

I can't understand this. They do know you are approaching the full 2000hrs do they?

Hello there,

I was wondering if anybody would have rough numbers as to how many Australians are working either at Emirates, or at the ME3 in general.

Cheers!!

It's hard to say. You looking for Australian Australians, New Zealand Australians or South African Australians? If you are from the from the tax office I think it's none. If you just need the number for some quiz night, probably a couple of hundred at EK as pilots. More as cabin crew. A few engineers. There may have been a few in management, can't think of any in flight ops, but they would all be considered British now.

DropYourSocks 1st Nov 2019 18:46

Thanks for the reply Don. I'm just trying to get rough numbers of how many Aussie expat pilots are around the place for a little project I'm trying to put together. The tax orifice can go jump

I'm thinking of applying. I have about 3650 total time. Over 3000 turbine but it's all in King Airs. No jet time. Will that be a problem?

Hello friends,
I am from a flag carrier in Middle East and decided to join EK.
Currently holding 1000hrs A320, 600 hrs A330 of flight time. (plus a little TP)
I have read all the downsides (and trust me I know there's a lot) of coming to dubai and joining EK. However, I made my mind to come there and join, if possible, as it fits my goals in the bigger picture

Any advice on how to do this? What to study before coming? What aspects I should consider about the company or the country? What could give me an edge for hiring?

I want to make this happen, need advice.
Thanks

Hey all,
Does anyone know what "administrative" checks are conducted after you have passed the interview process?

I got through the interview and at the end got a 'congratulations, we just need to go through our checks and you should get the official letter withing 4 weeks' only to get an call 2 weeks later that I was unsuccessful with no additional information given. I don't have any negative records or history anywhere that I know of so I have no idea what it could be and it didn't get as far as contacting my referees.

Interestingly there were only 2 of us who got this far and the other guy got the same call on the same day.

Cheers

Hi guys,

Could someone who has been through the selection process recently please send me a PM, I would like to ask a fairly specific question regarding selection.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know whether its possible to move from Easyjet to Emirates, and how long this would take on average. Thanks

DuneMentat 12th Jan 2020 03:43

Provided you meet the requirements and make it through the recruitment process you can. I would say minimum 3 months for the selection and then 3 months notice period but it all depends whether you are the flavor they are looking for this month.

Deskjocky 16th Jan 2020 05:59

Heard that some assessments have been cancelled, seems they may have found enough crew.

Thanks, yes after all it's what they are looking for on the day, not just prior flying experience.

Interview

Guys i would to ask for those who attended the assessment how can I prepare for the ATPL exam there ? Other than the ace book . As what i have aeen from the comments on LPJ questions for the atpl was in accurate thanks
safe skies

whatsyourbeef 20th Jan 2020 23:38

Fawaz,

If you spend some time reading through all of the posts on the LPJ forum starting at the beginning then you should be able to collate around 80 questions based on feedback from recent assessments. The "Day 1 tech questions" pdf provided by LPJ is also an accurate reflection of the exam but you will need to check and confirm the accuracy of the answers for yourself as part of your preparation.

The exam is easy and I would suggest devoting a greater proportion of your study time to preparing for the simulator assessment, behavioural interview and maths test.

Cheers.

Recruitment Stop ?

Hey guys,

heard rumours about a recruitment stop. Does anyone know something about it ? I’ve had my assessment some weeks ago and I’m still waiting for a reply. (Boeing)

Emma Royds 28th Jan 2020 02:02

It looks like recruitment will predominately be for the A380 until crew start getting trained for the 77X but it would not surprise me if they pause 777 recruitment for a brief period. We were notified a few days ago that there will be no command courses on the 777 from March till July but they could extend this time period. Apologies if it has been explained beforehand but until the 77X arrives, the current 777 fleet will shrink slightly, as some older aircraft are removed from the fleet. This slight shrinkage in fleet size along with a lower level of attrition, means we have in every practical sense, a crew surplus on the 777. Further delays to the 77X entry into service, will only result in this surplus getting larger, providing there is not a marked increase in attrition and/or those aircraft that are due to leave the fleet soon, are retained for longer.

Anyone with a bit of spare time and willing to lend a helping hand inside EK shoot me a personal message. I am considering applying as an FO and any help is much appreciated.

You guys who've recently joined. What accommodation did you get? Rumours are going that the Meydan Villas (Heights and South) now are full and people are being given apartments again and even that the accommodation allowance is due to be put back on the table again. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Xavelha 10th Feb 2020 22:01

Recently been given Le Meridien Villas, although being shown Meydan South at the assessment and that ‘certainly’ we’d be staying there. Go figure

Meydan Heights/South are definitely NOT full. South alone would have 2-300 villas empty, they just opened the last section a week ago. From friends in Heights they have said there’s empty ones over there as well.

I don’t think the accommodation allowance for renting is ever coming back.
The only way you can get it is to buy or be forced to move from company accommodation (eg an apartment) and then have it offered.

May I ask if you opted for the furnished or unfurnished option?

Unfurnished

DuneMentat 11th Feb 2020 11:35

Latest rumor is no pilot has actually been given apartment in the last 3-4 months as they don't have any available and even single FO's who should only be entitled to a 2 bed apartment are being forced into a villa. How allocation is done is anybody's guess though and even people requesting MH/MS are being given a Jumeirah villa and told to apply via the normal process for internal moves. Also they have apparently stopped "agreed" take over of villas of someone leaving. Plus don't forget that what they show you during the tour is just an example of the accommodation and any "guarantee" you might get is only that they will put the request in but don't expect them to consider it if it doesn't suit them on the day.

fatbus 11th Feb 2020 18:16

In the long run any villa in jumeria is better than MS/MH , avoid the EK social experiment!
