That's right. Candidates rated on the 777/787 or A330 are waiting just a couple of months for a DOJ whereas B737/A320 rated candidates are waiting at least a year.

my God, at least 1 year for me. That’s a lot. In one year lot of things can happened Due to the blockade in June last year QR expansion plans were severely affected, which consequently affected the talent pool wait period. Now that the company have adjusted their business plan to the current reality I believe the influx of pilots should start heating up again, so I don't think the wait period will remain as long as 18months as it is now. This is just my point of view. It's all a guess game. |

Curious, why so many wanna go QR? I read and heard lot of negative things from past employees. On the other hand, its the best time to go Emirates now with their pilot shortage!
Actually getting your 42 days of annual leave with ability to bid for block off's before/after Proper swapping/bidding system Much better rosters Much less fatigue Shorter time to upgrade No 35 year limit for upgrade Better staff travel benefits Etc |
Hi,
I have applied for a 777 Captain position and I am now "swimming" in the QR Holding pool. I read that not rated people may wait between 12 and 18 months. Any idea how long is it going to be for rated 777 DECs? Thanks in advance |
It is rumored that DEC recrtuitment is going to stop soon (though I personally think it unlikely) to prioritize internal commands to FOs. Also heard no more 737 guys into the T7. But then again this is PPRUNE. OW |
@FlyingOW
Thank you very much for your info. Do you think they will still hire (rated) people who are in the holding pool? I understand that FOs cannot be happy about DECs though (I wasn't happy when the same happened to me). Let's wait and see. |
Rumor says
that qatar wont be hiring untill next year april earliest, anybody heard something different? Time to dust of the cv’s I guess 😁😁 |

I believe that they are definitely hiring, albeit at slower rate than before. I have heard 777 fo's are in high demand.
|
We are hiring on triple 7, just FOs for the last couple of months and at a much slower pace than in the past. 787 recruitment even slower. Pretty stagnant on Boeing for the time being. We do however have some outstanding 777F deliveries so there is some light at the end of the tunnel :-) OW |

There are 3 more 300ERs and 1 777F in the production line. I hope they will start hiring DECs soon. :ok: |
Guys, I don’t understand. I have the Assestment next June 4 and 5. If I pass I would have to wait another year at least. FO Boeing pilots seems to be full so I don’t understand why they continue calling people for the assessments. |
Hey Guys,
So I have an offer but somewhere it says about reference from current and previous employer (4 years ago). Current employer is not an issue but previous employer never gave us anything when few of us left so I am not sure if they will withdraw the offer based on this. Has anyone else had similar situation? Is it mandatory to have a reference from a previous employer 4 years ago? |
We have 2 destinations for the triple on hold (SFO & LAS) due to the blockade. 4 more T7 freighters coming. Once it ends it will be all systems go again. It is sensible to have a pool of suitable candidates for when we ramp up recruitment again and to cover internal promotions and natural attrition. OW |
Congrats, enjoy 👍, how many time did you stay in the pool ? When you did your assess?

Any feedback on DEC for Airbus? In particular the A330?

A lot of old colleagues are getting joining dates now during 2018, mainly on the 777. Hang in there!
|
When did they start receiving offers? Recently? Are they (rated) FOs or Captains? Thanks |
I am in the pool for almost 1 year and still no DOJ. It doesn't make any sense. If you have so much pilots in the pool why you are still doing recruitment. Many guys in the pool for a year and they won't wait forever and most probably they won't apply QR again in the future. QR just wasting the pilot source. If you decided to go middle east QR is not the only choice.
|
Are you rated on any QR aircraft? |
You applied for F/O or CAPT ? Regards
Cheers been swimming since December applied last year around August.[/QUOTE] |
No, I am a 737NG first officer. If you are rated then it will be faster of course but if you not then don't waste your time with QR.

I am sure you will receive a DOJ soon though. Good Luck! |

I understand your frustration but I think the blockade has really slowed down QR expansion plan. I am 777 rated but I doubt I will receive an email soon. It seems they don't need many DECs for the time being. I hope to be wrong! ;)

We have had applicants typed on 767/787/777/747 from the likes of Turkish, EK, EY, Avianca, LAN, Cathay, Korean, CargoLux Italy, etc. It’s really very competitive for an FO position, and we need about 100 for the T7 in the coming year. Hang in there, be patient. Good things come to those that wait. OW |

Thanks a lot but I am not waiting only QR anymore. If I get an offer from another company then I will go there. So I suggest to non type applicants don't waste your time with only QR because it's really unpredictable.
I was once given this advice many years ago when I was trying to get my first flying job. "until you arrive on day one, you have no job and until you have line checked, you're on probation" keep looking and applying as you never know, you may get offered a job you'll consider sooner. |

Some movement on 777 FO recruitment from pool that is 12 months plus, but no DEC on the horizon.. no immediate requirements.

A collegue is going for the assessment in doha in a few days. DEC A320. If they are not taking DEC what is the point in invite them for the assessment?

I have been in the pool as non tr DEC Boeing for over a year 2 friends of mine even longer now. Many guys are working on our plan B’s. If you are rated then you might get the call anytime. My 2 cents if you are non rated and are in the pool for 6 monts or so don't bother waiting and take other opportunities because you can’t plan on anything with Qatar Airways. good luck cheers |
I believe non type rated DECs won't get anything in the foreseeable future. The airline is prioritizing promoting its own FOs rather than hiring DECs. QR have already sent emails to candidates in this situation saying they have nothing in the forecast for them, so maybe thinking a plan B is a good idea.
For FOs, things are starting to move again. I believe the wait period in the talent pool is going to slowly start reducing from the current 15-18 months timeframe to the 6-12 months timeframe, like it used to be before the blockade. |
There are sufficient type rated and experienced Boeing DEC available to cover requirements until mid 2019, these supplemented by internal upgrades should cover the needs on the Boeing Fleets. No idea on Bus..IF you are swimming for the NTR DEC I would get a life jacket
