It seems some people now are getting DOJs as DEC for both 777 and 787 for December and January.

A couple of questions for a new joiner:

Any idea how good/bad the Al Kaabi Complex is? I can't find any pictures/videos...

I heard there are only a couple B777 sims in Doha and for the initial training they send you somewhere else. Any idea where are they located?

Thanks!

gatbusdriver 9th Oct 2018 14:30

Normally Gatwick or Singapore.

Use Google Maps, there are plenty of pics and location of the “complex” there.

It's a brand new complex which opened some months ago. A lot of new joiners are being allocated there.
The complex is not bad (gym, swimmimg pool, sauna, tennis and squash courts) and flats and villas are very good. There's not much around the complex, but you can reach almost anywhere in the city within 15-25min by car.
There's a huge mall under construction just 10min walking distance. It should open by early 2019.

Can anyone at Qatar offer some insight on non-type rated F/O recruitment at the moment?

Saw the advertisement for various recruitment events next month, but they don’t specifically mention they are looking for Bus or Boeing rated people (whereas the Qatar Recruitment website very much does)

Are they likely to consider anyone else?

I have circa 2500TT with 1000 on the emb195.

thanks

Windshear... ratchet down the hostilities, and ratchet up level of professionalism,. You’ll garner respect from your peers by doing your homework before posting, or opining your views about other carriers (upgrade times at airlines).

You know Windshear, you can make your age, which may be your weakness, your ultimate strength..

Does anybody know if Qatar accept an application with 3000 total with 700 on the A320 without 1000 jet hours? The other ones was on the ATR72.

PennyJet 24th Oct 2018 09:07

Regarding Upcoming Road Shows....

Has there been any movement in Holding Pool for Airbus FO’s?
Any news or updates? I see Qatar still interviewing for TR Airbus FO’s. And now Road Show dates too.
Surely if Qatar doing Road Shows, those that have been waiting should be getting notifications....?
Any Senior Ranking know most popular in-take months? Following Financial Year End....
Cheers

737 Hours

Hi. Requirements for Boeing FO’s advises 500 hours on the 737NG. Does anyone have any idea as to if Qatar would accept hours on the 737 Classics?
Am really keen to apply to Qatar as soon as I have the 1000 hours Multi Crew, but this will be an issue if hours on the Classics are not acceptable.
Thanks.

Just for info, I went to the meeting yesterday, package seems great but the Airbus/Boeing rating is a hard requirement for F/Os at the moment 🤷

Unfortunately it must be NG hours for the 737, I had actually this issue a few years back and recently at the interview it was confirmed the classic is no good to them. Good luck!

Hello dear colleagues ,

Does anyone know, are there any restrictions for candidates from Russia? I have heard that QR doesn't accept pilots from my country.
Thank you for the coming reply.

Well to my understanding it was not only restrictions on pilots it was some issue with residency or immigration for Russians but now I see that they are hiring Russian cabin crew and we have a bunch or Russian pilots online.
So the only way to make sure is to apply and you will see .
best of luck ..

A320 career

Hello guys! Can anyone confirm please how should career look like for 320 rated FO from time of joining a company with around 2000h? And what are upgrade chances after several years in a company if someone wants to stay in same type (narrow body)? Also is it possible to get every month 6 days off in a row?

Thank you in advance!

Broda 28th Nov 2018 08:03

Hi guys,

I am flying the 737NG for approx. 1.000 hrs now and want to apply for QR. Can anyone give me information regarding the process and how long it takes approx. from applying until the DOJ? Does it still take more than a year? And is the process faster for guys with 1.000 hrs on Airbus?

Thank you in advance for your help! cheers

Hey guys, I’ll hopefully start 777 fleet on february. And I have some questions for the veterans :)

1- what is the minimum rest in doha or at the layovers? Do u usually have the minimum rest?
2- does f/os fly deadhead a lot? Do the company pay for deadhead flight? Does f/o fly generally economy or bussines when flyin deadhead?
3- how much does 777 f/os fly average in a month and in a year?
4- how long does an upgrade to captain take ?
5- which one is worse barwa or ain khaled?

thanks in advance! Safe flights

gatbusdriver 1st Dec 2018 14:23

1. length of preceding duty is min rest. Can reduce to 10hrs in hotel down route. Normal is just under 24hours although MNL, DPS and a couple of others have been 12-13 recently. You will get 8days off per month in Doha. When freighter in exceptional circumstances you get days off down route.
2. FO entitled to business when deadheading and use of bunk if in economy and on company business. Not much deadheading to begin with. IRP will deadhead more as will freighter pilots.....rumour is freighter will be guaranteed business soon.
3. Don’t know
4. Process is starting around 4 years, but who knows. Has slowed up again recently.
5. Only you can decide that. I would say Barwa, but I know some guys choose to live there.

4runner 1st Dec 2018 15:50

Oh for the love of God! You can’t count classic time, only NG time? That must be an Indian “consultant” or office bobble head at work. I’ve flown them both in the same day. If you can fly a classic, you’re probably a better pilot than an NG only astronaut.

big changes are a coming what with the introduction of EASA FTLs. Lots of gossip and speculation but seems to be: work harder and rest longer. A lot of 4 crew ops moves to 3 crew. Whether the comoany does its thing as stipulated by the "Operators responsibilities " is to be seen.
Like any airline Crewing management worth its salt, when the regs say minimum rest is X, they read it has target rest.

777 fly about 90-110 / mtg

people either love or hate Barwa/Ain Khalid.

good luck

It was July 2018

colofly72 3rd Dec 2018 01:12

to Serkan 107:

1. minimun rest is whatever your flight duty period is or 12 hours whichever is the greatest, normally 12 hours
2. Junior FO's deadhead a lot, up today company only pays deadhead for cargo runs, however only more senior guys do cargo takes up to 2 years to start flying cargo,
most likely you will become IRP and deadhead quite a lot
3. average flight time 85-98 hrs per month until you reach your quota then you will continue flying but deadheading mostly
4. It varies according to company necessity can go from 3 to 5 years not guaranteed
5. Barwa is far from everything bad for family people, AKG is crowded, depend on taste the apartments are badly illuminated, poor maintenance, but closer...

Serkan107 3rd Dec 2018 12:43

Thanks for the answers guys ! When will qatar start the FTL? And can you get your annual leave in the summer?

Can I expect a 3 bedroom accommodation (fo married with 1 daughter)?

Do you have more than 8 days off in the monthly roster often?
