Applied for Captain and my status is "screened"

Apart from the obvious, what does that mean for Qatar?

Thanks in advance

May I ask, when did you apply and when was your interview? I am trying to plan things a little with my current employer. I would appreciate your information. Congrats by the way.

Thank you for the reply. It seems a long time but for me this is actually an advantage.

PayJay 4th Apr 2017 14:51

Failed interview

Does anybody knows that, if after he fails the interview (after the tech test passed) and re-aplies after 6 months,he gets hired in the rebound? Just wondered.

Mgggpilot 4th Apr 2017 21:54

I know of a guy who failed his simulator last year June. Re applied this year did his interview in March and passed now in the talent pool.

I have mine in less than a month, and I'm still worry to get ready.
Thanks in advance.

Tests were generally average. I focused on aviation exam on iphone.

omerta 5th Apr 2017 13:30

Hi Everybody,

Since all of you guys have been to the presentation, could you give me a few info :

- What is the updated entry salary for TR A320 FO ?
- What is the internal policy regarding the upgrade or fleet change (A320 to wide body)?

Thanks and good luck to all of you ;-)

striker26 5th Apr 2017 14:17

Adding to the above post, can someone please elaborate on the current schedule (turnarounds, flight hours per mo, days off per mo.) and the type/location of accommodation for FO?

Thanks in advance!

Black Pudding 5th Apr 2017 23:14

After DOJ

Hi everyone, I just got my day of join, swimming for 4m.
Anyone has any idea about the progress after that? And stuff to prepare before I really come to Doha? Anything other than the license, like marriage certificate, diver license...
THX in advance, safe flight

TOGA16 7th Apr 2017 00:02

Congrats MJthebest, as far as I know you must present initially a Police Certificate or something like that where it says you do not have criminal records ..... What fleet did you get????? What is your experience, just to have an idea.... I had my assestment in january, Airbus 320 rated..... Good luck in DOH...... When is you DOJ????

Black Pudding 7th Apr 2017 11:15

MJthebest

I tried to message you but you're not allowing PMs for some reason

Congrats on the start date

Hello and congrats on getting a DOJ.

First thing, as the colleague above said, is getting a police clearance certificate in English. If you have more than one citizenship, you'll have to get it from both countries.

Other documents are copies of pilot License, passport, medical certificate, ATPL or frozen ATPL passes, English level, LPC, last logbook pages signed/stamped etc.

They'll send you some forms to fill in order to validate your foreign licença to QCAA and also a medical form. If you have any health issue, you should provide the correspondent medical documents.

And some weeks before your DOJ, you'll have to provide your release letter from current/former employer.

Global_Global 7th Apr 2017 19:31

Congrats!

Make sure you have the Qatar specific health checks done in your home country before resigning from your current job. HR at QR probably told you the same and it is best to have them done as a pre check before getting over here rather than finding out in Doha that you cannot get a RP. :8

APU_inop 7th Apr 2017 21:36

The RP is basically a bloodtest and an x-ray of the chest.

You have to do a complete new initial medical class 1 either there or in the UK I think. If you have problems from before, I would spend the time and money to get everything sorted out in advance before heading to Doha. Sorting those things out after joining is not a big issue but it takes time and is a source of great frustration since so much is on stake for us careerwise.

Good luck to everyone and enjoy!

Rigid Body 7th Apr 2017 23:40

I'm also standing by for my "offer of employment". Could you guys point out what sort of info is included in this? I.e.

-course start date?
-accommodation details?
-entry visas for self+family?
-relocation tickets/ air cargo?

Just curious since it's taken a bit of time to get it.

GCA104 9th Apr 2017 10:58

Commuting to europe

Guys what are the chances of keeping the family in the EU while working as FO 777 (7on 5 off kinda deal)?

APU_inop 9th Apr 2017 16:50

Very difficult I would say, 1 week every 2 months for annual vacation and another 4 days per month as guaranteed consecutive off days. Other than that, there are no guarantees.

Silver68 9th Apr 2017 17:20

Can anyone help. I have an interview with Qatar for DEC 787. I'm led to believe that I could expect 6 days off in a row p/m. I understand that this is subject to rostering requirements, but is it usually achievable or just a recruitment carrot?

Also, any kind soul prepared to say how the 787 rosters are. Any help would be really appreciated.

I've applied for the same type of job Silver68, and am showing "screened". Any idea what this means? I've got a friend there on the 787, I'll see if he can email a roster.

Tried to PM you to no avail.

Regards Tonker

Silver68 10th Apr 2017 10:16

If its any consolation, i don't even show screened. Once i did the online application etc, I was offered an interview date.

tonker 10th Apr 2017 11:28

Well that doesn't fill me with any more hope unfortunately. Screened could mean Jason Bourne is filled in to do my interview or something !!!!!

It's a fairly quiet roster on the 787 from the brief conversations I've had with folk there. Relatively quiet I should have said.

Silver68 10th Apr 2017 11:39

It's not so much that I need a quiet roster, in fact i've never had one, but I would like to get home more than once every 3 months. If the possibility of 6 days off per month is a real one, then I'm happy.

Whats your experience/ background?

Obbie 10th Apr 2017 11:43

Fairly quiet ?????

787 Captains are doing 85 to 90 hours a month minimum.
You can expect 4 days off in a row maximum, thats all.

Fairly quiet he says, hahaha.

Silver68 10th Apr 2017 11:51

Obbie, thanks for the input. So the 6 days off mentioned is not really on offer, shame.

Would you be prepared to offer any more insight to the Qatar 787 gig?

tonker 10th Apr 2017 11:51

Relatively......

Special Captain...... Please elaborate.....

Special Captian - a fictitious term, used in a post, in an attempt to create the
illusion of accuracy or truth, when in fact neither are present.

Obbie 11th Apr 2017 16:57

What were his various time limit windows at ?
What was his satisfaction ranking for the last three months ?
Did he have training scheduled in the next 90 days ?
Did he have leave in the previous 30 or next 30 days ?

A lot more than simply what you bid goes into roster building.
There are no "Special Captains"
There are only Captains who think they are special.

APU_inop 12th Apr 2017 23:51

Depends on the aircraft type.
Another company in the region is going to start offering commuting contracts, 4w on 2w off or something like that and QR will have to follow in the near future.
Other than that, it is a non commuting gig, don't let anyone make you believe anything else or you might end up being unhappy.

casablanca 13th Apr 2017 02:38

I agree....depending on fleet the schedule can be quite nice and you may get home often.
That being said it is not a commuting contract so if you come expecting that you will become very frustrated

QR Rosters

Hi all,

Looking for any info on the A330 roster at QR. Recently offered a position and struggling to find current roster info. If anyone can maybe share a typical roster, block hours, destinations, pax/freight etc. Anything would be appreciated.

Cheers

Same here, but to B787. Have seen some rosters of the T7, but none of Dreamliner. Any heads up would be appreciated.
