Few crew agencies work with Qatar Airways.

I already applied online on the QR website. Still no news.

If I applied thru one of these agencies, would that change anything as far as waiting?

Thx

ironbutt57 7th Jun 2012 03:32

DX man, don't apply through an agency if you are direct entry FO or Capt...apply online as you did, give it plenty of time...they have 50billion USD of aircraft on order, and have taken around 4 airplanes since April, and it's non-stop..from internal sources there, they are rather busy, so apply and keep it updated, emails and attempted phone calls are not appreciated, as it interrupts their work, patience is a key to joining any airline here, QR is no exception, be patient, it will come....if you got the online completed and received a reference number, then wait it out.....advice given me by a person in "the department" there...good luck to all...

casablanca 7th Jun 2012 06:43

I applied through an agency(paramount) but often wondered if that would be a hindrance or a help. I honestly don't know but I seem to be proceeding through the process like everyone else. They are still advertising for positions on their website.

Hasibt 7th Jun 2012 07:31

Any chance

Hi everybody
I m 40 and have 4000 hr no jet over 1000 hr on atr72 as FO, 1000 hr BE1900 and plenty of small ac, any chance for SO fast track? :confused:Thanks for the info.

Jansy 7th Jun 2012 10:40

Hi guys!

I did the selections early February (ab-initio, NTSO, 200hrs FT). It has been almost 4 months now, and still waiting for any feedback (positive or negative)...

Any of you guys experienced the same amount of waiting time?

Cheers!

ironbutt57 7th Jun 2012 11:20

@Casablanca, how exactly is/was the agency involved?

casablanca 7th Jun 2012 16:34

RE: Agency
I saw an ad on paramountarg.com advertising for 777 captains for a 5 star airline.
I applied, and it merely redirected me to application for Qatar.
I had applied directly with Qatar previously about a year prior and never heard anything.
I honestly don't know what is the connection with the agency... They seem to be in touch with someone there as my recruiter called me day before the interview invite to give me a heads up.
I assume they get a finders fee or something.

ITO 7th Jun 2012 19:30

Hi guys,

QR is game over for me.Unfortunately. I still can`t believe what happened but it is unfortunately real.I think we have been around this thread for sometime and most of us almost knowwhich position we applied for, and somost of you know that I applied for NTSO. I have been waiting for the past 5months as a crazy, every single day, for any single feedback. Managed to knowlater on that I did pass the Interview. Tried to call HR every day to find outwhere I was standing, if there was something about to happen, a nerve wrecking stressfulsituation, to end up with what? They called me two days ago announcing me thatI was about to turn 31 in 5 days and that I am not fulfilling anymore the agerequirement for joining as NTSO and as a result, they are canceling myapplication. I was left with no voice.

I can`t describe now how disappointedI am, especially that because of this waiting…etc I lost 2 other firm joboffers that were initially my plan to reach the FTSO. At the end of the day, Ifind myself with absolutely nothing in my hands. It`s harsh, it`s really harsh.
Most of you do not know, but Iworked previously with QR as a cabin crew, and when I was about to turn 28years old, I had also the same thing…had tried everything…etc to be told 1month before turning 28 SORRY..TOO late. Still, resigned from the company, undergonea Flight Instructor course to pursu that dream of being with the company, todo something that will get my experience going on toward FTSO. Have beenworking for the past almost two years and a half as a full time FI with nearly2000H, doing all sort of training, all focused and determined to get back tothe company, and yet, the same thing happens in an even worse situation, afterpassing the interview this time.

It just cracked me. I am disgusted. Why waiting 5 months to just then realize ohh…****..the guy is about to reachthe age limit -which I had NO CLUE about it at all- lets call him and announce himthe very nice news !
I can`t describe how hard it isnor how I feel. I am in the middle of nowhere now with all doors shut andlocked.

Stick35 7th Jun 2012 19:59

Ito, my condolences. This is really sh@t what happened to you. Somehow it shows that QR is still full of surprises. There is still a live without QR. You can compare it with a girl who is rejecting you. First you die but later on you realize there are more girls outthere. Same here. One day you will find a better outfit than thisone. I wish you all the best. You'll get there. Thats for sure.:ok:

RK303 7th Jun 2012 20:08

And may I ask what's the age limit is?? 31?

bond737 7th Jun 2012 21:42

ITO,

I feel for you man. It's a total mess up.

Sincere condolences. :oh:

Give the chief pilot a call. Tell him that you already passed the assessments and you used to be QR cabin crew etc. You have nothing to lose by doing this.

future-pilot 7th Jun 2012 23:31

Hi everyone,
I've read that qatar airways and CTC aviation have an agreement for low-hour pilots supply. Does anyone know anything about it ( contract salary and terms)?
Thanks

Check Airman 8th Jun 2012 02:09

ITO

Truly sorry to hear what has happened to you. Most unfortunate. I wasn't even aware there was an age limit for the SO.

casablanca 8th Jun 2012 06:46

Sorry.. Maybe a thread drift but had a surprise visit of a b-787 doing touch and goes at KBIL-Billings, Mt. I look forward to seeing it in Qatar colors! Anyone know if it is still on schedule for June?

RK303 8th Jun 2012 06:48

Sorry for you ITO, I tried to warn you as much as I can.

Even if today, it's still hard for me to understand how you managed to refuse 2 firm jobs opportunities knowing you are reaching 31 years old soon and no congratulation email from QR...

Good luck for your recovery.

bond737 8th Jun 2012 08:06

casablanca,

More like July-August.

ironbutt57 8th Jun 2012 08:12

KBIL-Billings, Mt.

Wow, that's a "happening place" :}:}

Well, they expecting to show off their first 787 piece at the Farnborough airshow.

RK303 9th Jun 2012 11:32

Dear all,

Following this tread since I’ve been interviewed last Dec as a NTSO, I’ve seen how QR is an “hazardous” airline regarding his hiring process damaging some people. Having recently learnt from the very bad experience of ITO the age limit of 31 for NTSO, I also managed to know that I passed the interview but in few months, I will have one year remaining before being “erased” by the HR like ITO were.

There are dark clouds over SO’s heads and it seems that it may not happen this year. So I have questions regarding a job opportunity that could open up very soon for me.

First of all, thanks god I’m not jobless and to be sincere, it doesn’t worth it for me if I don’t reach a major airline like QR at the end, so I’m not desperate and I was looking to be trained right from the beginning at this company standards but of course, life’s not so sweet:rolleyes: . The time is being short for me to decide whether or not I’ll tried to enter this dying pilot market and this job may give me the famous experience required to do it but I’ll be bonded for 3 years.

Please does someone know something about those two Questions:
1) If QR eventually call me as a NTSO and I decide to break the bond, what’s happened if I’m already type rated with no sufficient hours on type to reach the FTSO requirements, disqualified?
2) If I reach the FTSO requirements when called by QR as a NTSO, will I need to reapply and wait to be invited again for an interview like it never already happened?

Thank you

Black Pudding 9th Jun 2012 14:07

@ITO

E-mail or call the Chief

Explain everything

supersonic75 9th Jun 2012 14:43

QR Bond ( copy/paste from QR email i received )

@RK303 : im sorry i dont know about your two questions , my advice for you is to call them better than getting maybe wrong info from someone else !! ( try calling around 8:00 am qatar local time GMT+3) . i would change the way i ask the first question if i were you and keep the second one as it is ;) as for what you said about NTSO being bonded for 3 years ?? this is a copy/paste from what i received from them 3 weeks ago , hope its usefull for you or anybody else as some guys were talking about rumours regarding a new bond ? as i said i received this about 3 weeks ago :

Training Bond:

All Aircraft Type-Rating courses including full and shortened transition courses. The bond is USD 50000 for Captains, First Officers and Fast Track Second Officers. It is USD 75000 for Ab Initio/ Second Officers.

The Bond amount will be deducted from the pilot’s monthly salary starting from the date of joining the Company at the rate equal to the Bond Amount divided by 36. Deductions shall continue for a total of 18 monthly deductions. Upon completion of 36 months (3 years) following the date of joining, the total amount actually deducted from the pilot’s salary will be refunded back to the pilot.

Fast Track Second Officers. The bond will start on completion of Final Line Check, not date of joining.

Second Officer/ Ab initio training courses will attract a five year bond of which will start on completion of Final Line Check.

Ab initio training courses will attract a five year bond

Frozen ATPL

First Officers joining with a Frozen ATPL must have a full ATPL within the first 3 years of their employment with Qatar Airways

This information is accurate as of November 1, 2011. Subject to change at any time .

Iver 9th Jun 2012 15:19

This line from the above email regarding training bonds is particularly interesting:

All Aircraft Type-Rating courses including full and shortened transition courses. The bond is USD 50000 for Captains, First Officers and Fast Track Second Officers. It is USD 75000 for Ab Initio/ Second Officers.

I presume this could be the reason why several current QR 777 drivers have been "unwilling" to move to the 787 - they don't want the type rating bond held over their heads... At least that is what I have heard. I guess if you are a current QR A320 pilot and you want off that tiring schedule, getting typed and bonded on the 787 might be considered OK by some. Although I bet the 787 rosters will eventually be just as exhausting - just different scenary. :}

RK303 9th Jun 2012 15:30

Sorry if I wasn't clear Supersonic. The job opportunity I'm talking about is with an another airline, not QR, but it requires me to be bonded for 3 years.

I'm asking those questions because I'm trying to see if I will be able to join QR after being engaged with an other airline without cancelling my current possible rank or application in the QR system as I have been already interviewed as a NTSO.

I would like to be able to break the bond at anytime to join QR even being type rated with few hours.

I just hope that they won't cancel anything and ask me to reapply again or something else as I am not matching the NTSO requirements anymore. Their interview process is way too long, I would like to avoid to do it again...

Thanks

FL123 9th Jun 2012 16:10

@RK303

I just hope that they won't cancel anything and ask me to reapply again or something else as I am not matching the NTSO requirements anymore.
as in you have reached the FTSO requirement?

RK303 9th Jun 2012 17:06

Yes FL123, for exemple what will happened if i reached the FTSO requirements, will I need to reapply again?

or simply imagine they call me earlier and I do not have enough hours required for the FTSO but already type rated on the 320? will it change anything?

FL123 9th Jun 2012 17:27

@RK303

Yes FL123, for exemple what will happened if i reached the FTSO requirements, will I need to reapply again?
Considering this is QR--- honestly speaking man, if you reach the FTSO requirement and they unfortunately happen to look at your file and come to the conclusion that you have reached the FTSO requirement. Then straight away you will be asked to re-apply again as a FTSO. I don't think they will change your file to FTSO. But if you have people in then that might take turn in your favor.

or simply imagine they call me earlier and I do not have enough hours required for the FTSO but already type rated on the 320? will it change anything?
This is not an issue at all. I know an individual who was an NTSO and was type rated on 320. He got in but was asked to do type rating again with QR.

captain.weird 9th Jun 2012 18:09

Does somebody inside QR know if the airline is going to open an international cadet programme?

Cheers.

RK303 9th Jun 2012 19:03

Thank you very much FL123.

From what you said here, I'll have to think carefully on what I am doing cause I don't want to let my slot with QR to go away for sure. The NTSO programme is an incredible shortcut to reach the final goal.

The deductions from salary are refund after 3 years:ok: this is the cheapest way too...

The problem is, when will they start to call the holding pool...hopefully one year should be enough to see this happen.

FL123 9th Jun 2012 21:32

@RK303

Trust me, hopefully you will be in by this year IA!!!!! :ok: ((according to current scenario))

supersonic75 9th Jun 2012 22:25

flying and reaching higher rank minimums while waiting for QR email !!

@RK303 : try to pm a guy called ( gdukkoq ) !! he was talking about him being a FTSO waiting for the (contract/fleet email ) and getting close to reach the F.O minimums while he was waiting . he was told by the chief that he will join as an F.O if they call him by then !! and not starting over again !! go to page ( 196 ) and read his post and see , pm him and ask for more details just to be sure , i hope that helps .
another thing i want you to be aware of : after i received my ( contract/fleet allocation email ) i asked my joining coordinator about delaying my joining date as much as possible , she told me -you must join before and no more than 12 months from your interview date-
so before you decide to start your plan ( if you would ) just make sure you ask and verify with QR this -time limit- just to plan your type rate and flying with the other airline early enough so that you can be ready for QR and not exceeding your 12 months limit in case they call you and maybe you've just started your type rate and not done yet by then !!
and finaly one last thing to think about : QR will ask for :
A copy of resignation/release letter from current/former employer and, if under a training bond, a repayment/ clearance letter to be submitted before joining.
so make sure you can get this letter from that other airline you want to ( join , break bond and leave ) !! or you will lose everything :{
i hope all the best for you , just think it all over before you do it. its not an easy thing to do .

RK303 10th Jun 2012 01:11

A very informative post Supersonic.Thank you for this.;)

Too risky and there is absolutely no reason for me to consider this job opportunity if I can’t join QR at the right time if they call me. Plus it can cost me a lot…

Let’s stay tuned on QR, and see what will happen this year.
I followed the gdukkoq story. He suffered a bit but it was finally an happy end.

groundtoflightdeck 10th Jun 2012 01:32

Just curious... What do they care about your bond? I've never had a bond before but Seem like that's your problem to deal with... Unless its an industry courtesy to your former employer...

Iver 10th Jun 2012 13:32

I realise that waiting for any information, pre or post interview, seems like an eternity - which, in my view, is very unprofessional (but nothing you can do about it if you really want to work for QR).

For those of you who have interviewed, what have they told you about response time? Do they admit that you might not hear from them for 2-3 months????? :ugh::eek::mad:

Tritzo 10th Jun 2012 14:31

"hello again everybody.

anyone here interviewed 2nd or 3rd week of may & received reply? positive or negative.

nothing yet for me. http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/wbored.gif "
you mean last year or this year :E

rather wait for another 3 months to know :D

twapilot1971 10th Jun 2012 16:08

I applied 2nd week of Feb. 2012, received the interview invitation April 1st 2012. Interviewed for DEC the first week of May and was told 4 to 6 weeks. It has been 5 weeks, so I am waiting patiently.

upwhereIbelong 10th Jun 2012 23:34

...

as been said before ....patience is the Key .
Normally (say this carefully after ITO´s experience),no News good News.

I waited 4,5 Months for good news ,then 4 weeks later Offer of Employment ,now wait since 3 weeks for DOJ.

So be patient ,continue flying and soon or later it will come .
I know its hard but there around ,I would imagine ,200 right now waiting for join date .
