Good acurate post moster!!
FECA = not a bad place to work but with todays living costs in Dubai i'd only reccomend it as a suitable job for someone to build some hours and move on.. things in Dubai have changed alot.
You will only 'live for the job'
Dryer maker.. 'cheapest' way to buy a car in dubai would be to get a 2nd hand one ...something with Air con is a bonus.. should be able to find a run around for about ...? 8000dms?? its not hard to get a loan/ buy anything in dubai If u have a bit of cash u can take advantage of a new car with low/no tax etc.
Good luck

I know DXb well in's & out

Hi

The company is good to build hours, the money is ****, and they'll ask you to sign a 3 months notice when you want to leave. By UAE labour law 2 months is the enough.Tell them you'll only sign for 2 or even 45 days.
Try get more money out of the them, because they are so desperate for pilots, am sure they might give you more.
The planes look like a bag of ****, but a couple run ok.
I think one lost an engine the other day out of Barhain and one had a heavy landing, bent it to ****, but it actaully looks the same.
Also watch your duty hours, and know your legalitites, because they make you do **** that will get you into trouble.
There are a few good guys there, but i don't think they be around long, because everyone looking to move on, other companies offer more money, and it so expensive to live in dubai on a falcon salary. It's not like its used to be about 6 or 7 years ago. Everything in dubai as gone up apart from the salary. As long as the lebanese are running the company they will not be putting the salary up, if they do it'll be max 500-1000dhs. Which really isn't enough with the cost of living going up 14% evry year in dubai
Tight purse strings on them F:mad:kers. They pay on time and when you are away they out you up in nice hotels, which is a bounes. Also being in dubai has alot of opportunties to move on to different companies, corporate which pay the big bucks. So move on as soon as you can.

Apts nowadays varies.
4000-6000 for a small 1 bed, depending on where you live, International city is cheap. It gets more expensive the close you live in dubai. But you'll definitly need a car.
Alot of Falcon guys live in the big brother house, which is around 2500-3500 for a room which shares with about 12 others plus the extra phillipinos that sleep on the couch and floor. Best things is to find someone to share with, which happenes alot in dubai, check out Spinneys notice board for rooms to let, that can also be expensive.
If you look in Sharjah for a place to live, is a little cheaper, but they a jumping on the band wagon like dxb and the traffic from there is ridiculous.

If your looking for 1900 flying try Solenta out of SA, get good time and pay better.

sharksucker 9th Nov 2007 10:53

Ohshit got it very accurate!!

only thing to correct: to my knowledge the enginefailure out of Bahrain actually was a flameout on the ground in BAH, could'nt restart the engine after, got it swapped with another engine from a donor airframe in DXB (one which is sitting in the hangar for maintenance). The rest of the post: nothing to add, very accurate!
Salery: I know sthey will offer F/Os 34.000 USD a year and they will accept 36.000 for sure, try even higher, you might get it. Good Luck!

Coastrider26 11th Nov 2007 01:41

O**** the bend aircraft have you actually observed it had a hard landing because the only aircraft I know is/was bend was in a prior accident with it previous owner in the U.S.

MonsterC01 11th Nov 2007 23:13

Bent A/C

Coastrider, you'd better believe they bent a 1900 on a hard landing. I've seen the photos of the a/c in the hanger. They landed it so hard that the tail posn light shattered. There's a ripple in the alumin skin all the way around the nose just behind the nose gear, and rippling and popped rivits around the wing roots on both sides. I think it was A6-FCA, and i'd be surprised if it ever flies again. Good job by all consurned when you consider Falcon just spent approx $260 000 USD fitting T2CAS, EGPWS, and new paint. It just goes to show you pay peanuts, you get..............!!!!

Agent Mulder 11th Nov 2007 23:45

peanuts

pay peanuts u get an old fart that flares at 50 feet, and thinks this is the way u land a 1900.....u aint in NZ now buddy

ohshit 11th Nov 2007 23:58

Bent plane

Coastrider, the a/c you are talking about, is FCE which was bent before Falcoon recieved it, You can do a google on that, but the recent one was FCA, heard it was in the hanger for good, they should take the engine off FCA and replace them with FCE, as it's engine runs hotter than an arab nuts in a dish dash in mid summer.
I think FCA had trouble before with an heavy landing, bursted the engine mounts, and kept flying for a while before it was realised.
They have spent load of cash in spraying the planes, they should have spent just a little more so the paint actually stays on.

In regards to employing, they have resorted to employing guys from third world countries who think that what they offer is lots of money over where they come from, but in dxb it's nearly as bad as someone who works at the the Irish village. At least they get accommodation.

hey dude!
plz dont call the canuks & the kiwis that!

Coastrider26 12th Nov 2007 15:40

FCE was running hot two summers ago to the point we turned off the bleed of the hotest engine climbing out at 300 ft/min... Not sure what they did back then but appearantly the problem is back..

Atleast FCC is still running and I'm sure it's still the fastest jet of them all

Hi strobe

Last time heard there requirements, where low, as they hired someguys straight out from cpl with 200 hrs but the type rating. 2 dutch guys, i believe they have recently hired a cap from Germany, as one flip flop got sack for failing his PPC.
THe only trouble with FECA F27, is that it's always broken, I heard it got damage recently by a b747 jet blast, not to sure ifthats right. So plan to sit on your ass, the pay is better than on the B190. I think you get the same as a B190 Cap.
Not sure what else you need.

ohshit 14th Nov 2007 01:33

Inverter

I have nothing against these guys, as Agent Mulder says you pay peanuts, look what you get. I just feel sorry for the guy next to him.
Apparently there are a load of good guys at falcon.
But that doesn't mean the standard should drop.
Cheers

Oh****, thanks for the information..
Is FECA really desperate for pilots now?
Is an FAA licence valid in Dubai? What´s required for conversion?
Any info most welcome!!
Thanks,
Strobe

Flying Mechanic 14th Nov 2007 13:51

you can validate an FAA lic easily in dubai.
conversion is an air law exam, and usually a checkride in the aircraft in Dubai.
You logbooks/licenses will be given to DGCA for validation.
While your license is being issued, u can fly on a validation up to 3 months.

ODGUY 15th Nov 2007 02:35

who are the Lebanese that run feca?

Hypocrites

Reading these threads just reveal how many hypocrites there are out there. I mean, a minority of you guys milk every little advantage from the companies you use as stepping stones throughout your career progression and then stab them in the back by posting how bad the company is. Every company, no matter how big or small have their problems.

There are always fingers being pointed at others, however you never notice how many of the 5 are pointing back at you...... I guess refraining from these pointless lines of grumbling would be the best option. It does bring out the best of the worst of the individual though.....

"....when you are away they out you up in nice hotels, which is a bounes."

"...Salery"

"....had trouble before with an heavy landing, bursted the engine mounts"

"....know your legalitites"

"....In regards to employing, they have resorted to employing guys from third world countries who think that what they offer is lots of money over where they come from"

"....I have nothing against these guys"

Looks like you have a lot against these guys.....

I doubt it's only third world individuals coming here because they are getting more money, I think that's why you came here in the first place, especially considering that you are an individual from a developed country ! I guess your standards are peanuts as well since you are here too.

I wonder if it's guys like you that empty the mini-bar in those fancy hotels and then expect the company to pay for it ! Plenty of peanuts there !! :}

You may be from a developed country (maybe your passport is !), however the english portrayed above seems to negate that fact.
The fact that you know so much about the Spinneys notice boards reveals a lot.... Regardless of nationality, individuals that sleep on the floor have straighter backs unlike the spineless individuals that sleep on beds to support them.

"....as it's engine runs hotter than an arab nuts in a dish dash in mid summer"

I wonder how you know that !!

I understand that these threads are meant for rumours, jokes, enlightening information etc. We can all do without the crap, so watch the racism, bitching and moaning... !

Raptor8 :ok:

Note: For any moderators reading this..... it's not the job of thread readers that have to highlight the "quoted" nonsense like the above, and then get banned ! :=

"employing guys from third world "

Raptor,

I agree with you 100%.

I am shocked at the comments these so called first worlders have stated on this thread.

What I find very annoying is these are the same people who come from their firstworld countries begging for jobs in the 3rrrrrrrrrd world mostly to gain experience as no one will employ them in their 1st world with their petty hours that they are so proud of. and and willingly learn from the 3rrrdd world pilots ! have seen this time and time again. !

I think guys need to grow up and act like professionals that they think they are !
