You will never get 5 days off in a row on the 330. (Even 4 days is a rarity).

You will get more than 8 days off a month on average on the 330.

Yes, (it counts for time you need for command on an EK type)currently even you have been an FO on the 330/340 for 3 years and then transfer to the 380, you have to get 2500 hours on the 380 to be eligible for command on the the 380.

If you are a captain on the 330/340, you need 3000 command hours with EK to transfer to the 380 as a captain.

Eric, I have known many pilots at EK over the past several years while I can not speak for them I can tell you what they have told me. Currently, (this will most likely change) the plan appears to have all 340's retired around the end of 2015. The 330 fleet will continue to shrink and be gone sometime around 2017-18. Again, this changes every few months, and you will get 7 different answers if you ask 7 different people. I can tell you two of my friends waited for 777 classes, showed up for a 777 class and were switched to the 330. They then volunteered to go to 380 with the promise from EK of returning them to the 330 two years later for their command. 6 months after joining the 380 they were told they could not go back and needed 2500 hours on the 380 to upgrade. They have been there over six years and still sitting right seat. While their old 777 class mates upgraded 3 years ago. My point is 2 fold. Firstly, rules at EK and what is truth changes daily and without warning. Second, trying to make a decision on what the rules are today may get you screwed tomorrow. As far as schedules go these appear to be consistent. Meaning, consistently getting worse. I would expect the trend to continue. Also, there are very few overnights on the 330, most go to training so you will fly months of nothing but turns. But again, ask Don.

11 Flights operate through 2 am - 6 am time period.
Now imagine doing this month after month and trying to interact on your days off with your family. And BTW you do not have any vacation for the next 10 months to get a reprieve, because of forced leave.
Before I get comments about not bidding correctly, I checked other schedules around my seniority and the schedules were almost identical.
The schedule on the previous page was a 777, and most likely top bid month.

Saying never is simply not true. They usually don't allow more than 7 (but it does happen on occasion). Despite all the negativity, it is possible to work the system in your favour.

Never had more than 3 days off in a row in the past 3 years. Half of my off days are single days. And the months I had with 3 days off in a row I can count on one hand.

I have 2 lots of 5 days off in a row this month, and bottom bid (777). July had 6 days in a row, and a string of 5 (also 10days of leave )

Quick question about EK assessment: (esp. for airbus guys)

- which altitude for circuit height is best? And if for example it's 2000' AGL, what's recommended for Thr. reduction & Acc. Alt? 1500'/1500'?

- And RH or LH circuit is better? Because left is sharjah apt and right is obstacle 2790' (LIDO). Which is in jeppesen 1170', strange...

Btw, does EK use jepp or LIDO? Thanks guys

My advice: do your circuits right hand at 1500 AGL if you do them from the RHS. The Burj Khalifa is not a problem (it is far). 45 sec outbound after abeam threshold and you will be turning just past the coast onto 12L.

My other advice: think carefully before joining. You looking at:

- 10 years for Command (this is a fact, do your maths!)
- Continuous remuneration package erosion due very high inflation
- Culture of "reporting" and "blame". Prehistoric management model. You are a number, and those above you they will have zero respect for you most of the times.

Kernow101 - The 777 roster is VEEEEERY different to the 330-340 roster. So if you budding EK recruits are planning on joining the 330 - I can categorically say you will not get more than 4 days off in a row.

Btw does anybody know if simulator hours (with MTOW 55+ tonnes) are permitted in the requirement limitations? On the EK website it says only the following:
