Pilotcbp....

I did my SIM eval in ATL as well and haven't heard back from them yet. They said one to two weeks for them to get back to us. Im going on one week since the eval.

Good luck.

They want good pilots in therm of flying the plane.
They want pilots who take their time to study any situation (incident) before making a decision. The decision making and the ability to work with others are important.

Hi!

Is the BAe 146 considered modern commercial jet aircraft? I would like to know if I could include it in the "2500 hours on a modern commercial jet aircraft" requirement.

Thanks!

For anyone who interviewed recently and made it through the complete selection program, how long did it take for them to contact you and let you know if you made it or not?

References contacted after a few days and got the email with job offer about 1 week later. Depends on how quick your ref's are in returning their forms I guess.

Good luck!

I made it through the selection process on 8th November (for a job flying a desk). I was told I should expect to hear from them by the end of the month. I'm on the edge of my seat!

i have heard that emirates will, when supply and demand dictate, drop both the minimum tonnage and minimum jet time requirements in order to meet the demands of the airline which at this time is surely quite high.
i have 16-1700 heavy jet hours and am more interested in whether or not there is any truth that emirates will interview you with 1500 jet hours or more provided you meet all their other requirements-on a similar vein i also believe that thet still wont offer a course start date until such time as you have your 2k- can anyone shed any light on this?

Halas, maybe you're right. I wish there was some way of knowing. I'm very open to improving faults that I harbor. Onward and upwards though - can't cry over spilt milk. Though I do wish they drop the 24 month requirement to reapply to something more like 12 months.

pfm, they will also drop your pay, T&Cs, days off, vacation and your general quality of life for the same reasons. I seriously can't understand guys lining up for 8 days off and more fatigue than you can imagine. I know, we all came from places that made us tired, but I'm warning you, this is an entirely different level of fatigue with few days off to recover. Yeah, I'm here now, but if they had told me it would get like this, my decision may have been different.

I have to agree with MosEisley on this....

What are you people doing coming over to this slave labor camp they call Emirates??? Especially the priveleged who come from North America. You gents will not understand that EK "CAN", "WILL" and "DOES" change the T&C's at their will without your go ahead. A contract you sign will essentially be meaningless.

DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THIS SIMPLE CONCEPT HERE?

If you understand what you're really reading here on this forum, it should be enough for you to "get it" as to what's being said. It's cryptic for a reason...

Only come here if you're out on the street looking for work.

Devil Rose coloured Ray Bans

Guys, just remember that the roadshows are nothing more than an elaborate sales pitch for both the country and the company.

An increasing percentage of pilots here are trying to leave!!

Should tell you all something about working life here!!

Due diligence required!!!!!!!

Dear Oblaaspop,
when you write the cull- rate is 65%, do you mean, they accept 65% of all applicants or do you mean they accept 35%?

65% Failure rate.

Statistically, it's always been about the same over the last decade or more.... To put it another way, less than 4/10 pass selection on average

Housing Allowance

Hi,

Does EK offer a housing allowance and utilities allowance if you opt to not take company housing? If so, how much? For FO's/ Captains?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure for Captains, but I know someone who recently started as an FO and opted out of company housing. He got 152,000 AED (or was it 153,000 AED) per year.

Captains get 14,400 a month (172,800 a year). You can rent a 2 bed villa in Al Waha (spelling?) right next to the company accommodation for 60,000 a year. No certainty that rents will stay low for ever but at the moment you would have to be mad to stay in company accommodation. Trouble is once you are out you can't get back in if your circumstances (or rent) change.
