So what is the problem. There are hundreds of DEC at EK. The only way
you can stop it , is to have a Union. They will do it any time they want.
You should have known it before you joined.

A wise man once said over here:
"Expect to leave Middle East exactly at the same position and flying the plane you were hired to.Anything better than that is just a BONUS. So you will never be disapointed."

Well....whats wrong with DECs..??
Someday we will all become captains(well...most of us) ...and at some stage in our career, with perhaps command experiences that we have, some will probably choose to jump ship or return back to their home country to take up better offer as probably DEC as well..
Its an open market out there, and middle east is no different. The pie is big & its growing..people come and leave...& one will get their share when the time comes .......just my 2 fils worth

Not really, he's just stating what he'll accept and the sandpit doesn't pay that kind of salary. As an aside, looks like the influx of Mexican pilots will not be coming out here to bail the carriers out of their crew shortage. Heard the LAN group (LAN CHile) have hired most of them.

Australiancalou is EXACTLY RIGHT!
If we all had that attitude of "won't work for peanuts", instead of constantly trying to underbid each other, then perhaps this job will still enable us to own a house and a car in future.
The reason why we get no bonus, no salary increase and permanently treated like is because we all accept it.

EK has massive expansion and will hire DEC til the end of time. Sucks for the FO's but they seem to be attracting FO's from all over the region to join the big red machine of abuse.

It's the same crap over and over, why does someone always start a dec thread. We winge and moan for a few weeks, then, wow nothing happened. Change the record, bored of this one.

If you work for a rapidly expanding airline any where in the world then DECs are a possibility. If you work for a rapidly expanding airline in the ME or South East Asia, Far East etc. then DECs are a certainty, has been that way for decades, and yes, most of you will end up looking for DEC jobs when you decide to leave Emirates, Itihad, Qatar etc.
The primary concern for the airline is not having aircraft sitting on the ground through lack of qualified crew and if simulator availability is limited, or there are other training constraints, then DECs it will be.
Proper command training is a lengthy process, at the end of which the company have a brand new, inexperienced captain. Airlines have the option to compromise or take in DECs, if your quarrel is the quality of the incoming DECs then you should take it up with the company and be prepared to back up your complaints with irrefutable evidence.
Spent most of my working life in the airlines and as a FO have been walked over myself, it happens, look forward to the day when you are immune from DECs.

Its says on PPJN that pilots with previous medium category jet command, can be exempted from the usual upgrade requirements (3 yrs EK, x thou EK hours), if insufficient FOs meet the criteria.
Is that true in practice?

Common guys ..if you are struggling for the upgrade so badly...come to Copa...6 month and you are Captain.....GUARANTEED!!
If not PLEASE stop this baby crying..its already sounds like an anecdote...
