Dec At Ek!!! HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!

2 German Condor pilots got offers as DECs with EK starting in January 2011.

HERE WE GO!!!!! :mad::mad:

Didn't we all expect it?

KRUGERFLAP 18th Oct 2010 10:04

Man, What do you expect? Do you believe EK Fligth Ops Managers?

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBLEASE:ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

Fugazi 18th Oct 2010 10:11

How much? Year one Captain's salary? :{

Boeingbuddy 18th Oct 2010 10:20

So what is the problem. There are hundreds of DEC at EK. The only way
you can stop it , is to have a Union. They will do it any time they want.
You should have known it before you joined.

KRUGERFLAP 18th Oct 2010 10:26

A wise man once said over here:

"Expect to leave Middle East exactly at the same position and flying the plane you were hired to.Anything better than that is just a BONUS. So you will never be disapointed."

Rgds

Do we have to have yet another thread about dec's? If they come they come. Yes it sucks, no I don't like it, but what's gonna be done about it, f@ck all!

Oblaaspop 18th Oct 2010 14:02

NOT TRUE!!!

Mate, stop spreading crap....... If you know them personally, then tell them to stop winding you up. They are lying!

It 'may' happen in the future, but its not happening yet!

atuk 18th Oct 2010 14:54

Well....whats wrong with DECs..??
Someday we will all become captains(well...most of us) ...and at some stage in our career, with perhaps command experiences that we have, some will probably choose to jump ship or return back to their home country to take up better offer as probably DEC as well..
Its an open market out there, and middle east is no different. The pie is big & its growing..people come and leave...& one will get their share when the time comes .......just my 2 fils worth :)

australiancalou 18th Oct 2010 16:00

45 years old, captain A330, 11000 FH, 8000 FH as CPT on multijet,
2500 FH as CPT B747, 4000 as CPT A330.......
Looking for a new challenge.
Minimum salary: 25000 USD per month (That's my actual gross) plus .............
Won't work for peanuts!
Cheers and DDay mates:}:}:}

NG_Kaptain 18th Oct 2010 19:44

Not really, he's just stating what he'll accept and the sandpit doesn't pay that kind of salary. As an aside, looks like the influx of Mexican pilots will not be coming out here to bail the carriers out of their crew shortage. Heard the LAN group (LAN CHile) have hired most of them.

Nightfire 18th Oct 2010 20:24

Australiancalou is EXACTLY RIGHT! :D
If we all had that attitude of "won't work for peanuts", instead of constantly trying to underbid each other, then perhaps this job will still enable us to own a house and a car in future.
The reason why we get no bonus, no salary increase and permanently treated like :mad: is because we all accept it.

waldorfin 18th Oct 2010 21:43

Austra.......

Great cherp!!!! Classic... made my day. And may I say spot on.

411A 18th Oct 2010 23:05

Heard the LAN group (LAN CHile) have hired most of them.
The TACA group as well.

DesertHawk 19th Oct 2010 08:12

EK has massive expansion and will hire DEC til the end of time. Sucks for the FO's but they seem to be attracting FO's from all over the region to join the big red machine of abuse.

Get it right DesertHawk. It's a Green, black and red machine of abuse!:p

dustyprops 19th Oct 2010 10:10

It's the same crap over and over, why does someone always start a dec thread. We winge and moan for a few weeks, then, wow nothing happened. Change the record, bored of this one.

parabellum 19th Oct 2010 10:56

If you work for a rapidly expanding airline any where in the world then DECs are a possibility. If you work for a rapidly expanding airline in the ME or South East Asia, Far East etc. then DECs are a certainty, has been that way for decades, and yes, most of you will end up looking for DEC jobs when you decide to leave Emirates, Itihad, Qatar etc.

The primary concern for the airline is not having aircraft sitting on the ground through lack of qualified crew and if simulator availability is limited, or there are other training constraints, then DECs it will be.

Proper command training is a lengthy process, at the end of which the company have a brand new, inexperienced captain. Airlines have the option to compromise or take in DECs, if your quarrel is the quality of the incoming DECs then you should take it up with the company and be prepared to back up your complaints with irrefutable evidence.

Spent most of my working life in the airlines and as a FO have been walked over myself, it happens, look forward to the day when you are immune from DECs.

Time Traveller 19th Oct 2010 17:41

Its says on PPJN that pilots with previous medium category jet command, can be exempted from the usual upgrade requirements (3 yrs EK, x thou EK hours), if insufficient FOs meet the criteria.

Is that true in practice?

Immigrant 19th Oct 2010 17:58

Heard the LAN group (LAN CHile) have hired most of them.
Copa took a BIG piece as well (Mostly DEC's)

P.s.
Common guys ..if you are struggling for the upgrade so badly...come to Copa...6 month and you are Captain.....GUARANTEED!! :ok:

If not PLEASE stop this baby crying..its already sounds like an anecdote...

DEC's&EmirateS :{ :O
