Now what??

After spending weeks to finally get my log books up to date and total all those hours I am finally done. I logged on to the EK app and finished that to. Now that I have hit the send button I'm wondering, what now? Was I expecting the phone to ring that quick? I was left with this empty feeling or maybe I'm tired from the log book calculation blues. In any event I done and the app is in their hands so only they can answer, Now what?

Paitience, if your hours are good you will get your first email (automated) confirming your application has been recieved. As soon as someone looks at it (working week Sunday-Thursday), again, if your hours are good, you wil be advised that you are shortlisted. Expect an invitation to interview within a week or two.

There you are, easy!

He just did tell you.

Your last post appears childish and petulant

Be careful if you get invited.

Personally I agree with helen-damnation. Having your hours is not that impressive...maybe to you. There are multitudes of pilots with tens of thousands of more hours than you who are much more humble about it.

= Just barely enough to apply.

That being said, it is enough to get an interview, as skyvan very politely informed you, and you very abrubtley and rudely responded to. At the interview, by far the most important thing assessed will be your personality and ability to deal with stress, conflict, cultural and comunication differences, and work with others.

If you reactions here are typical for you, then yes, this IS representative of what you can expect!!!

Ok let me see if I get this right. I post something that was not a question to anyone in particular but rather a general statement. Someone decides to reply which is ok by the way and I reply with tell me if the jet hrs are enough and the multi crew experience and I get attacked by you two?? What's up with that?? Now I never said how many hrs I have in total nor did I put in that post my turbo prop time yet you feel that I have just barely enough without a full picture huh? Like I said if that's what to be expected by the people you work with then I have already been let down!!! BTW it must be a culture clash because I truely never intended it to be rude al all.

Thanks fellas

Angel Lessons in prune posting

Well you tell me my friend, I have 1800 in the CRJ and 2500 in the A320!!
Hey matey...how about saying it like this...

"Thanks Van for your reply. Much appreciated. I've got 1800 hrs on the CRJ and 2500 on the A320. What do your reckon my chances are on getting an invite? Thanks again."

Now doesn't that sound so much better. Try it at the interview...might help you.

Lesson over...green out.

You guys are absolutly correct. Even though that it was never my intent to come across like an a$$ I can see how different cultures may clash over what one believes to be insulting.

My apologies to one and all.

Only thing is A320 the guys replying to ya aren't from another culture we're canadian, american, british and aussie i would guess. Probably more of a internet thing where you were misunderstood...easy to happen when you are reading posts on a forum. Good luck with your app.

320PLT, to emphasise Avpilot's point, several of us just withdrew our interview offers/apps. and we each had over 10,000hrs big jet...the change in rostering practices was the clincher. (The poor EK recruiters do not deserve to be put into this position, but that's another thread...they don't make policy, it must be very difficult right now. They have my sympathy).

Am I detecting that english is not your primary tongue? Your syntax and diction perhaps suggest otherwise; maybe that's why your posting came across other than as you intended...

Good luck with your application...

Point well taken and again my apologies. I have over 8000tt and while not that impressive I do understand your point. I was speaking of only the 121 jet time and not 121 turbo prop or 135 turbo prop time. I see it pissed people off and again I apologize. I do hope that this brings this subject to a close.

Thank you for the well wishes. BTW english is my native tongue, i'm just bad at it.

Chill

A320 don't worry about some of the responses. If you had written it for US audiences it wouldn't have been a problem. A lot of the same nationalities previously mentioned can fly almost anywhere in the world and navigate ATC until checking on with BOS and worse NY centres. Some of us find that challenging because of the non-(worldwide)-standard phraseology. Might I suggest that when you come for the interview (chill dude you'll get an invite!) you try to tone down the colloquialisms. Most of the people that you will meet on the interview and subsequently on the line speak good/correct english but most American English is not really well understood.

Thanks bro I really appreciate that. I have had several email exchanges with the original gentleman who told me that he never took offense to what I stated and for me that was all that really mattered.

I was somewhat concerned about making the move to EK from here and the more information I got the more I got worried. I really don't think it's for me now but I do appreciate all that has been given. I'll look for you on Bos or NY center

Have a great day my friend.

Just one more tip...

In this region, watch out when using the word "my friend" people will take it wrong very easily, as this is one one of the phrases used a lot by some of the people here in offensive conversations...

Cultural.....

Chill II

Whoa A320PLT as I have stated on other threads those of us that post on prune are not a scientific sampling as there almost 2,000 drivers here at EK and maybe 30 regular contributers. My humble advice is to come for the interview and see for yourself. Pprune is not Ebay and I suspect your decision is too serious to make based on a "picture" on the 'net. There's still something to be said for kicking the tyres.

I'm not a big fan of stereotypes even though, unfortunately, they tend to contain kernels of truth they don't allow for individuality. If you join EK you'll hear generalities about most of the nationalities (& there are many) and then you'll interact with someone from that country who'll display none of those traits.

The US pilots here at EK are treated no better or worse than anybody else and that includes by JFK customs. Might I suggest that you try to contact US pilots here (not on prune) and speak to them directly.

Having said all of that, there are RULES THAT PROVE THE EXCEPTION. Where is TRE Tartan Guy these days?

My dear fellow mensaboy I found some of your previous post somewhat offensive. Don't intend to get into an argument with you but the Americans here (& there are more than most of us realise) integrate as well as any other nationality.

Even George Bush is touring Africa at the moment!

I really appreciate your comments about this. Please allow me to explain my situation. I am currently employed by a major US carrier on the Bus. I am currently making just over 80K US and due a raise next month. I looked at EK and did just what pilots there said I shouldn't, I got blinded by big jet envy and the idea of being a captain in one in real short order.

I saw the pay and attempted to justify the loss I would be taking by asking EK pilots to explain to me just how they couldn't make it when all the big bills were covered by the company. I was willing to let go the fact that there is no union protection and all that goes with that.

In short I really don't think EK is for me as it is today but again I do thank you and all the others who took time to educate me.

Fly safe bro and I will see you out there someday.
