@330 Airbus, when was you interview, how long before you received a date of joining. And when would that be.
From what I heard, the training department makes the rules, they decide regarding the available training slots, but they are short of instructors, this explain the long wait. Currently the wait is about 3 months...

gdukkog,

Interview done 2 months ago.
Got the good news after that followed by a contract.
Signed the contract and got the joining date 1 week after that.
Start date end of this month.

Well your "Date of joining" is pretty much only the date you move to Doha, as there is a lot of paper work to be done initially, uniforms, quick ground school sessions, so while you're doing all that they might be scheduling the SIM dates for you.
That probably already takes a month itself, who knows..

I could be wrong, but look forward to hearing from someone who has the answers.

Regards,

330A

As I understand it you will have to validate your license, in my case a JAA license, to a QCAA license once employed.
Will you get the Type Rating onto the JAA license or only to your QCAA license. If not is there any way to convert the type rating to a JAA license?

Hey, I am just wondering what is the level of experience the people who are joining have and are you going for CP/FO/SO?
Just write down the approx hrs and # of companys worked for, it's good to know what they are looking for.

Cheers, best of luck.

Applicant Experience

@Tropical ...

I applied for First Officer position.

Total: 1270 hrs
A320 Type Rated ~100 hrs on A320
Military Fast Jet Fighter: 1112 hrs, 766 PIC & 346 F/O&PUT

***BTW: Is there any {civilian} rule of thumb or something I can use in order to estimate my block-time total experience? I'm asking because the times I mentioned above are flight effective times [get airborne to touchdoun], because of different metering sys in Air Force.

Anyway, it seems like this is not the profile they are looking for.
I got no interview invitation.

Would having weak vision be a problem at all with the medical?
I hold a class 1 medical and never had an issue in the past (eye sight -4 on both sides).

Should be okay with QR too?

owning a dog

Hi all,

I will be joining Qatar in a few months and I need to know from someone there if the accommodation is suitable for a dog. I have a setter/pointer type breed - about 25kg. Joining as an FO.

Thanks in advance and good luck to all awaiting their interview results.

FT,

I do not believe the eye sight would be a problem.
I myself am pretty blind without my glasses, and it has never been an issue with any of the companies I have worked for.

HOWEVER, I would like to hear about this from somebody on the inside, as I will be doing my medical with QR in the near future.

@ Gevin

the answer to your questions are in the cabin crew forum ... I'm sorry but here you can find only greedy, aggressive and dangerous animals ... called pilots!

@ 330

... no problem with glasses ... or any other solution you can use to reach 20/20!

eagleeye23,

Do that only if there is absolutely no chance for you to make it on Nov .
Sometimes things can go wrong.
HR are pretty helpful though in general, i'm sure they could help you out.

patrickr82,

The technical test has been changed to 25 questions now.
There is no technical interview.
Good Luck!
