Those that sued the company, at least.

booze 16th Jul 2021 07:17

The so called wizzair non-punitive culture... putting someone on a list because of not extending duty, not taking calls on a day off or calling sick is a indefensible move from a company. Putting people on lists brings back bad memories especially in Eastern Europe. I wish wizz trainers had the balls to refuse to train any external candidates before all 265 got their jobs back. Now that's what i would call a start of something...oh well...we know the answer: it just won't happen.

student88 16th Jul 2021 09:52

When applying, does the status always read "You have not been selected"?

It's been showing that from the second I submitted my application.

Nikker 16th Jul 2021 09:58

That's why I said the ones who went to the interview. Not 265.
If you wanted to protect their rights you should have started on 14th of April 2020,or the latest in August 2020 when some were rejected in application to the interview. Now the train is gone.

Indeed i did. Many of us did. Last April we tried to convince some ppl we knew who still had jobs at wizz to stand up and stand together for their colleagues who were let go. Nobody was interested unfortunately, due to fear for their jobs. Even some who were let go were convinced that if they stay under the radar they'll be called back. Truly petrified ppl who believed that their online comms are monitored, etc. Many denied joining online working groups, etc. When the whole thing blew over and the voice recording as well as the meeting minutes leaked we tried once again, especially that at least half of the "let go" were still not called back at that time... No luck. It really seems that the wzz pilot group are not willing to stand up for themselves. Now this would be the absolute last chance, for the trainers to stand their ground, to simply refuse to train anyone until everyone of the 265 gets the opportunity to get their old jobs back (many of them have and will refuse as they've found sg else since or just plain disgusted to ever work for wzz again). This opportunity is going to be missed as well like many before, I'm afraid.

Don't know mate. Most TRI-s I happen to come across in BUD back in the day were so far up JV-s backside that it made me blush at times. Doubt if it changed for the better over the years.

daywalkera 17th Jul 2021 08:02

It's amazing how all media are advertising the great expansion of Wizz. Varadi is talking only about "capacity", "green airline", "bla bla bla" and no one dares to ask about safety, safety culture and the notorious redundancies which broke all labor and human rights. Medias are slaves to corporations! EU doesn't care about human rights and EASA doesn't care about Safety! Any of the so called Wizz managers don't answer unconvinient emails, phone calls and any kind of comunications. I think if CEO is man enough he should accept invitation for open conversation in front of the media, he should explain his definition for bad apples and why he don't care about respecting laws. Why people who has opinion (the one who didn't agree being fired without reason or proper selection process) are bad apples? And can a person without opinion be a Captain?

Javeee 17th Jul 2021 11:20

Are they calling non-type at the moment?

TBSC 17th Jul 2021 14:16

After the events of this week they will call everyone who ever saw an aircraft very soon.

captain.weird 17th Jul 2021 14:43

Lots of guys who were not selected with thousands of hours apparently (NTR).

LO_152 17th Jul 2021 16:26

TBSC

What exact events?

dirk85 18th Jul 2021 00:32

I suppose he refers to the tens of flights being cancelled on a daily basis due to lack of crews.
Also wetleases companies stepping in to help.

TBSC 18th Jul 2021 05:37

Also the head of crew planning reporting sick while his deputy quit his job with immediate effect. Only 70-75 aircraft are flying out of 140. The 110+ planned for August won't be a walk in the park even with continuous wet-leases.

Giuff 18th Jul 2021 09:44

What would be the most probable bases for the new hires (Cpt and FOs)?

Thanks in advance.

FlightDetent 18th Jul 2021 10:20

EASA wet leasers completely maxed out since the last Tuesday, out of the blue. Not sure how large a role WZZ may have played.

daywalkera 18th Jul 2021 10:25

Restarting an airline is not like managing a pampers company (P&G). But there is no way that some CEOs know it. I know "bad apples" with at least double managing capacity than your current CEO. Now the most important task is to hide this from shareholders

PilotLZ 18th Jul 2021 10:25

There is definitely a GetJet A320 flying for WZZ these days, there might be others as well.

hid3 18th Jul 2021 11:20

Wizz has a good safety record and normal safety culture/policy. In their internal messages they often emphasize that safety in #1 thing. What particulary makes you think safety is compromised?

dirk85 18th Jul 2021 11:46

Sarcasm right?

Crews are absolutely TERRIFIED to call fatigued, or even sick, and would accept 18 hours duties with no minimum rest without blinking an eye, in order not to be considered a bad apple.
The rosters I have seen for June/July/August are absolutely soul crashing, and in a normal company with a half decent FRMS system would cause plenty of fatigue reports. But yes, sure, safety is their number 1 priority.

Flying Clog 18th Jul 2021 15:32

hid3

Lol! You're taking the piss right?

Their internal messages emphasise safety as number 1 priority? OK, that'll fix it!

Give me strength!
