Even a Base Cpt of a big base had the smart idea to fly for a week with flu symptoms in full pandemy, this winter, because he wanted to “set the example”.
He turned out positive to covid.
Result? Swab for half the base and whole office staff.
With that attitude he will probably be considered for regional manager, if it wasn’t that they prefer cabin crews these days for that position…

To be fair, I work for an employe in the Far Eastr that is going the same way - abuse and a system that forces pilots to fly sick to pay the bills, all the while screaming from the rooftops that safety is their number one priority . It won't end well.

But we do get paid 20.ooo euros per month to do it, so it's not all bad. You just need to draw the line and man up.

Hard to do for a 250 bob yeager with 200k debt hanging over his head and barely able to afford the beans and toast for dinner before sitting in the right seat of a wide body.

Not a pretty sight.

But thanks to his bravado, I'm sure he just about paid the bills that month. That's why he did it. Me me me. Madness

And this is why we need a union that vets and has veto rights on all new recruits. One no vote from the panel and you're on your bike. No reason given. :mad:

We need to maintain integrity. Not lose it. And with the insta clowns overrunning us, THAT is very much a priority. All the pilots need to be fighting from the same corner, against the management and accountants, who have already proved to be absolute maniacs taking advantage where they can. And the chinese bat flu has been one HELL of an opportunity for the bottom feeder airlines, of which Wizz is one. (However Wizz seems to be screwed now).

They can't put a price on good will, so just go straight for the jugular, the low numbers and ticks in the boxes. Screw it down to the bottom line.

If the flying public was aware you would have half filled airplanes, with the 10 euro stag party brigade, too pissed to know if they were on a plane or a hearse, the only remaining passengers. And you're welcome to them.

And then maybe think about why you really want to become a pilot? Is it for the insta shots and facebook profile ego, thanks to the bank of mum and dad and the house remortgage? Or do you really have built in skills, aptitude, managerial skills, previous flying experience, and the right stuff to have a rewarding career as a reliable Captain? I think we're out numbered here.

And I can't wait, and they will, for chancers like Wizz and Norwegian (and the rest of the fly by night cowboys) to fall flat on their faces.

Ryanair, difficult one - as long as you get the show on the road, safely, you get paid well with a decent roster at a regional base. You just have to turn a blind eye to MOL and his outrageous outbursts, and don't get involved.

As for Ryanair P2F FOs, well, you made your bed, now lie in it. It's going to be :mad: money and you'll be in debt for years. Enjoy.

However, not that I want to encourage it, but Ryanair was a well trodden path into a quick command at Emirates, for all that's worth these days. I suppose they're in the dole queue now too...

Wizz is King to internal messages. In April after "bad apples" tape leaked they made "internal" investigation which said that "nothing illegal is done". Which is strange because all external ones - all European courts where "bad apples" appealed their redundancy- announced them illegal. Unfortunately it will take at least one more year for things to get settled during which people will continue suffering without income!

Rosters that I saw and excolleagues I have spoken confirm the fact of “be prepared” we are gonna suck your soul...

Basicly the bases they usually give people when they want to punish them. Questionable quality of life and impossible to commute from.

What's the Confair deal like now? Any base salary or just pay per block hour?

Have you noticed how when Wizz is diving deeper into the :mad: simplyflying starts to publish useless information about them to decline the attention ;)

KUT is open. YM is flying from it currently.

Georgia is far from bad place to live, so I'm not sure why it's hated so much here. Same with Albania; an hour from finish and on the beach if that's your thing.

So if you would only accept a UK base there is no point in applying?

Kutaisi is a very difficult place to live if you don't speak russian, and definitely requires a lof of adaptation, depending on where you come from, obviously. The nature is amazing and also the food is great, but definitely not the cup of tea for every western european citizen.

I've been invited too for an assessment. As far as I know, a lot of crew received the invitation too.

How are the chances ? Does it really worth it to go there knowing the difficulties to travel during this pandemic? and finance the ticket and hotel and so on?

Do you know if they need lot of pilots? o they will just gonna hire a dozens FO and captain.

Is there a pilot shortage within Wizzair?

They are short of pilots. Currently using wet lease aircraft in Wizz Hungary and Wizz U.K. they have plans for 500 aircraft in the fleet for 2030 I think. Flight cancellations are happening due to lack of crew (inc cabin attendants).

Lauda air have started to advertise with a 5-3 fixed pattern so looks like things are moving again for recruitment. Wizzair will have to rethink the terms and conditions if they want to retain crew going forward.

I'm ex-TBS base personally for another carrier. I speak both Russian and Georgian reasonably fluently, and you'll pick up bits of both quite quickly if living there. Kutaisi isn't my personal cup of tea but is super cheap to live and many of the younger Georgians speak English fluently. I do agree that any such move requires certain mentality though, which is likely more in line with mine than some others. That said, especially at Wizz you'll pick up bits of various languages over time if willing to learn.

Very short. At a guess there are enough crew for just under 100AC at full capacity (including the ones heading East overnight), meaning IRO 600 pilots are required over 2 years. CC requirements I'm not sure, but they are present.

Mate…I know that is fairly easy to jump into the “hate wizz” bandwagon but what you say is simply not true.

They will not send you to punish you, they will send you when you get your upgrade (in case you’re an f/o) to the less requested base and in need of captains. It’s pure logistic, same as Ryan Air.

During covid for sure commuting was a pain in the ass from these places but currently it is another reality, especially if you consider how big is wizz network.

Regarding quality of life…it is a matter of managing expectations. Most of these bases are in Easter Europe so that is the reality you should expect.

As someone mention it, some of these bases are 1 hour away from really fun stuff. Just not for bitter people who will stay in their apartment complaining about everything.
