Questions for those that have been in the process recently.

For how many bases can you express your preference?
What are the most likely bases for a new joiner the next few months?

FlyingStone 14th Mar 2015 09:40

You can name 4 bases, although most likely they'll put you somewhere else, unless you put one of the not-wanted bases (Romania, Bulgaria, etc.).

dirk85 14th Mar 2015 12:21

Thanks for the quick reply!

Is the assigned base known before the contract is signed, or it can be like in Ryanair where you can get a temporary base for the line training, and you get the "final" base after a couple of months?

I have no problems in relocating, but assuming that I pass the whole selection (wishful thinking) I would like to make the decision to resign already knowing where I would end up living.

FlyingStone 14th Mar 2015 12:30

You'll get the designated base shortly (as in days) after the notice of successful assessment. You can opt for a base change after line check.

Send me a PM if you want more info.

@ Guys without TR: Did you actually apply for the experienced or cadet entry scheme? I am wondering if they prefer experienced ones or if they invited ppl for both schemes.

The point is: I will have these 500 hrs total flying time, which is qualifying for the cadet entry in about 2 months I guess and the 500 hrs jet time, which would be qualifying for the experienced entry in about 6 months.. So wait until I can apply as an experience pilot or won´t it make a difference?

Thanks :ok:

@Plastic: Thank your for your honest and subjective opinion. :ok:

Any other advices?

B767PL 15th Mar 2015 01:23

Don't you get to pick whether you will be under a service-provider contract, or a Wizz employee?

worldoffe 15th Mar 2015 06:32

Dudes, I'm working in business aviation. So I'm used to get called all the day :)

payforlife 15th Mar 2015 11:25

Never got called on days OFF, never got a single threatening email, i've always been asked if i "could" do this or that and whenever i said no, well, nothing happened, nobody fired me and still happy and flying.
Don't know if in the past was like Syntax and Plastic are saying, i have no reason to do not believe what you guys say, but these days situation seems to be quite different from the way you draw it. Probably because they realized they lost a lot of people, looking for higher salaries and being closer to home, and now they try to deal with pilots, can't speak for cabin crew, in a better way.
Not saying it is a dream company, no one is, but far away to be nowadays the scarying and sad place you guys depict.

payforlife 17th Mar 2015 09:09

Never called me on OFF days. I fly about 70 hours per month with peak of 90 in high season. I knew already though that aviation is seasonal stuff, but may still surprise someone :)
Have also to say that most of the time, on a 6/4 roster, you get the 6th day becoming OFF, so turning it to a 5/5, not bad for commuting if you have direct flights to your country. Even more because are for free.
As I said before, it is not the best company in the world, far from being, but it is not the kind of nightmare you depict. Might have been in the past, now is definitely different story, but don't wanna convince anyone. Enjoy my life and let the others do the same.

worldoffe 18th Mar 2015 17:03

Not to unusual that a CPT occasionally flies as an FO:)

payforlife 19th Mar 2015 21:06

Joined one year ago, been through one summer and one winter already. As said, summer time you hit the 90 hours easily but never got my roster screwed, always had my 6/4 and most of the time, off peak, it turned to 5/5. Believe it or not, that's how it is. Don't wanna convince you Syntax, i am just stating the facts as they are in my experience. Have friends in a couple of different bases and they are not complaining either. Are we working hard in summer? Yes. Is the nightmare you depict? Not really. But again, don't wanna convince anyone, just reporting facts. I repeat it: it is not the best company in the world and far from being, but in my personal experience is not as bad as you say. Maybe because i've been working harder in the past doing different jobs
;)

payforlife 21st Mar 2015 15:20

Well Syntax, I can only say that we have very different opinions about the company and many of the things you are saying don't reflect my experience. Might be I am a lucky guy, would be first time in my life. I am able to commute three times a month spending three full days at home since most of the times my sixth day turns to OFF from available. Of course the fact that I have direct flights home with Wizz helps a lot. I do understand people leaving because there are other companies with far better conditions, rosters and bases, I am not saying the opposite. I understand your disappointment if that is really your experience. Anyway, just wanted to share a different opinion. Won't spend more time on this topic, take care and all the best

imaximov 22nd Mar 2015 12:52

Guys,
How often Wizz has crew overnights? Is it their right to transfer you to another base at any moment?

GA Button 23rd Mar 2015 20:51

Syntax - it is highly unprofessional to propagate a rumour about an individual who can be easily identified from your "story". Think, would you like it if the boot was on the other foot? Stick to facts before you start shooting your mouth off.

GA Button 24th Mar 2015 18:54

And how exactly does that justify you spreading malicious gossip in which the individual can be identified? You must be a very sad little man if that's how you get your kicks - run along now and try to be a bit more grown up in future.

GA Button 24th Mar 2015 20:32

Oh I seeee - so that must make it perfectly alright to slander someone on a public forum? Er, don't think so Plastic - engage brain and don't defend this idiots blabber mouthing.

dirk85 28th Mar 2015 19:30

Any news from the people that went through the assessment in March?
Which are the assigned bases? Success rate?

Pittslover 30th Mar 2015 06:13

Any news on how many they are hiring?
